HTA100 Integrated Stereo Hybrid Tube Amplifier 100 Watts

The Dayton Audio HTA200 is a terrific piece of stereo equipment. Great warm sound with plenty of power to drive most speakers to uncomfortable volumes. I am using this integrated amp with a pair of vintage Boston Acoustics CR8 speakers as a secondary system in my office (for reference, my main system is Yamaha Yamaha R-N2000A receiver with Martin Logan 60st speakers). Though the sound quality produced by the Dayton Audio/Boston combination would not necessary fair well in an A/B comparison with my main system, given the price difference between the two ($400 for the HTA200 vs $4000 for the Yamaha), on a value basis, there is no way the quality of sound produced by the high quality Yamaha is 10x better. I had previously purchased and ultimately returned a Fosi class D amp before ordering the HTA200. Simply put, I found the Fosi to be accurate to the music, but sterile; whereas, the HTA200 produces a warmer sound (with an class A/B amp and tube preamp section), much like you would find during a live performance in a concert hall. I listen to music primarily via bluetooth connected to my phone, which works very well with on the HTA. I may add additional sources in the near future - either a streamer or CD player - and HTA provides input options for either via its internal DAC digital inputs and analog connection. The amp also provides a phone input for a turntable equipped with a moving magnet cartridge, a great addition at this price point. Like other have noted, the remote is lacking, with poor response when trying to raise or lower the volume. However, it does work (with the great old school motorized volume control) after holding the button for a few seconds, so it not worth deducting any starts as far as I'm concerned. All in all, I think it would be difficult if not impossible to find a better integrated amp on the market at this price point.

The Dayton Audio HTA100 has been a great addition to my office setup and an easy amp to enjoy day to day. I’m using it to drive a pair of Sony bookshelf speakers as well as a variety of headphones, and it’s handled both roles very well. With headphones in particular, it pairs especially nicely with my Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro and Sennheiser HD6XX. Because it’s a hybrid design rather than a full tube amp, it also works well with planar headphones without the usual limitations or noise issues you sometimes run into with tube-only designs. Sound-wise, this is not a reference or clinical amplifier, and that’s part of the appeal. The HTA100 has a warm, slightly rich presentation that makes music feel engaging and enjoyable rather than analytical. Bass has good weight, mids are smooth and forgiving, and the top end is relaxed without sounding dull. It’s a fun, musical amp that encourages longer listening sessions rather than critical analysis. Power has been more than sufficient for my needs. It drives my speakers confidently with power to spare and has no trouble powering higher-impedance dynamic headphones. While it’s not meant to replace a high-end separates setup, it performs very well for an all-in-one unit at this price. Aesthetically, it looks fantastic. The exposed tubes, metal chassis, and clean layout make it a real visual feature on the desk. If this amp is going to live somewhere visible, it adds to the space rather than disappearing into it. For the sound, power, versatility, and visual appeal, this is a strong value. It’s a great option if you want one component to handle both speakers and headphones while adding a bit of character to your setup. Dayton Audio put together something that’s practical, enjoyable, and good-looking.

I bought this about four months ago, on a splurge, and paired it with Denon tower speakers and a subwoofer. I have been listening to it every day while I work, and I think it's magnificent. The sound handles rock and jazz equally well, it's a well-rounded delivery, nice bass but plenty of high and mid, and the subwoofer adds a mellow bottom that's thrilling. It's also just a cool piece of equipment to look at. I'm really happy with everything ... the Bluetooth connection drops a bit now and then, but I blame my internet and the Echo device I'm using for that. Very satisfied for the price, and I'm hoping it's a stereo setup I can enjoy well into the future.

Fantastic receiver! Love the old school vacuum tubes. Looks great, simple, very powerful (I got the 200 Watt version), and glad I did. The bluetooth connectivity is effective but not as great as other receivers. I have an optical line that runs from TV to the receiver, and playing music this way is far more clear and louder than the bluetooth. Music sounds incredible and warm, and is improving more and more as times passes. Have it paired with a pair of Triangle Borea BR03 speakers and the receiver really enables the sounds to shine. Took one star off for the GARBAGE remote! Honestly, for $399, I agree with other reviews that the remote could be much much better. Still, highly recommend the receiver!

Wow . 😮 What a lovely warm sound. The best stereo system so far for my limited budget. My father build his own Tube Stereo system in the 1950th or even before. This does sound better than solid state. Sure in the old days many stereo systems were mono but now with improved electronics we can have blue tooth as a bonus. Used A 12 inch Cambridge subwoofer and a slave 12 inch Cambridge subwoofer. It will rock your house at the lowest settings. Not that I am into heavy metal, but a gentle base that makes a rocket lift off in your house. Sure, Pink Floyd has been dubbed so many times and if you get a clean modern studio recoding this Dayton 200 will give you amazing results. Also purchased the Dayton 100 and could really not tell the difference in sound Quality. However the Dayton 200 runs cooler and so far the cooling fan has never started up on Dayton 200 amp. The Dayton 100 the fan comes on. I guess with the extra wattage on the Dayton 200, the system does not have to work so hard. I play the music at 11-12 a clock settings for best sound with a faulted 16 foot ceiling in a 24 foot wide room, Dayton 200 also has a remote, a nice bonus also a bigger size. Both systems come with blue tooth, optical, Phono, aux, coax if I am not wrong. I am writing this review a few years later after the purchase. So please do your own homework to confirm the latest model’s For the main speaker I tested the Polk 100, The Fluance speaker not expensive but still an impressive sound, also the Paycon speaker made in China, very substantial speaker that rivals the Polk 100 a speaker well constructed with real wood veneer on the outside. The Polk 100 main speaker was most expensive in this test . The subwoofers were around 900 dollars like 20 years ago by Cambridge Soundwork’s Used 12 gage speaker wire for the two sub’s a 50 foot run and a 14 gage wire for the main speakers in copper finely stranded. I did change one set of tubes on the Dayton 200 to see how much better the base would be, but the factory tubes work just fine. I guess the more we experiment you start to hear Ghosts. What is better? Also updated the knobs and gages on the Dayton Amps. Machined some knobs on the metal lathe and made some aluminum brass rings for the illuminated gages. This does not fool an improved sound Quality but gives it a personal artistic touch with a 1950 space age look. This is a basic review for a simpler life if you want! Your own ears are the limit of how much you desire to spend. The Dayton 100 system I gave to my friend. All I know it beats a solid state with a nice subwoofer and the subwoofer is also a main key to clean crisp sound. So don’t skimp on that. No distortion! From both units. So. for the last few years, ive been wanting to get a turntable and get the old vinyl out. I of course wanted a tube amp, but lets be honest. Im not $1000 anxious for one. So I found this. a nice tubed preamp with a solid state power amp to the speakers. vintage VU meters. no muss no fuss. The first one I got, had a faulty VU meter that would go in and out. (yes I checked with various different input sources). So I called them up. Boom, a guy answers the phone , in ohio, from the actual company, that speaks english. We talked about about the issue and he said to just return it for a new one. First one I bought was from walmart. So I drove down to the store and dropped it off, meanwhile I ordered the replacement from amazon. Received it in two days. No issues with this one. I purchased a fluance rt85 turntable to go with it, and plugged it into my Technics SB-L55 speakers I purchased in the 80s in high school. The sound is wonderful. Warm, full, yummy. If you can, get some real 3 way tower speakers. at 100 watts RMS, do yourself a favor and get some full range speakers. (cerwin vega cough cough) Book shelfs are cute and if you dont have the space, I understand. BUt youre just missing out I think. There is a reason bands have big speakers at shows. we always ran big 3 ways with separate subs. You just get a much better sound stage. This ALSO has a sub output. so you can really dig into the bass if you want it. eventually i'll probably do that, but the technics sound great as they are. The bluetooth works great as well and VERY simple to pair. before my turntable came in, i just paired it with my ipod touch to see how it performed. Highly recommended. oh and, its looks awesome with the tubes glowing :)

A nicely built and beautiful sounding amp with surprising power. Very pleased. A disappointing boxed-in mindrange was eliminated with upgraded tubes. This amp shines driving ELAC Debut F2.0 6.2s @ 6ohm or Dynaudio Audience towers at 4ohm. Roll the tubes for sure. Replace the (2) 6K4s with (2) GE JAN 5654W (huge power and headroom gain) and the big tubes with Gold Lion KT77s then prepare for goosebumps. There is no ss integrated or receiver that offers this smooth fluid sound so definitely an upgrade over my Arcam, Marantz, Denon and Yamaha amps - at a huge discount. You can't beat the tube pre + ss A/B amp combo. Vocals are crystal clear and liquid. Bass is tight, full, powerful and controlled. BT receiver is above par and sounds great, but using a top ESS chip BT + DAC will add more transparent flavor if you have speakers that can reveal it. Distortion is not noticable IMHO.

I really wanted to like this amplifier. Looks cool, sounds pretty good as well (I'm using it with Polk Audio Reserve R700 floor speakers). The only reason I'm sending it back is that it emits a lot of audible, high pitching noise, no matter what volume settings or input selected. I was able to track it down to WiFi interference - it only makes this sound whenever my WiFi access point in the room is turned on. Disabling WiFi on the access point solves the noise problem, but it is not a long term solution for me. Another flaw is the volume knob - it is very hard to adjust the volume by a small amount. The knob rotates about 300 degrees (i tried this with the unit turned off) so you would think you have a lot of room for fine adjustment, but unfortunately it is not the case. It is enough to turn the knob maybe 5 degrees from zero position and it gets very loud. Another 5 degrees and it is crazy, window shaking loud. So it is very hard to adjust volume, because every touch of the knob can change the output by big margin.

El Dayton HTA200 me sorprendió. El sonido es cálido, detallado y muy agradable, especialmente en voces e instrumentos. Además, está muy bien construido y luce increíble encendido. Por el precio, ofrece carácter y musicalidad que no se encuentran en amplificadores digitales comunes. Muy recomendado para quien quiera disfrutar la música con sensación más orgánica y natural.

Very happy with this amp the sound is warm and distinct, no problems worth worrying about for what this amp costs. I have no issue of the amp not having a remote control, after all if you are playing a vinyl , then you will be constantly up and down to change records, and guess what, getting off your backside occasionally, you may even loose a few pounds.

El amplificador es una buena opción de compra, está bien construido y se siente de buena calidad. Lo tengo en mi oficina con unas bocinas bookshelf Mourdant Short Mezzo 2, la nitidez es buena y la calidad de audio es excelente. Obviamente no es un equipo high end, no se puede comparar con los amplificadores de bulbos de alta gama, pero si buscas un equipo high end, con buena relación precio/calidad es para ti. Te recomiendo usarlo con las mejores bocinas que pueda pagar tu bolsillo. Vale la pena.
