FiiO R7 Desktop Streaming Player and DAC/Amp

I have to start by saying this may be a slightly biased review as I really like FiiO. I think their equipment across the board provides excellent value for money. I have a FiiO BTR5 (2021), BTR7, K7 and now this R7. This means there is a piece of FiiO equipment is involved with all my at home audio consumption. The BTR's deal with my phone audio. The K7 is for my PC and now this R7 deals with all my inhouse music and TV (it has changed location from my picture provided so I could plug in my TV via optical cable) The only time I don't use something FiiO is when using my DAP. I initially wanted a FiiO DAP but was presented with such a great deal for a Shanling M6 Pro I just couldn't refuse. Having said that, it does stay hooked up to the R7 as a drive when I am not actively using it. The R7 is more than powerful enough to deal with my headphone collection and the speakers I have attached are the self-powered Triangle AIO Twins + JAMO S 810 subwoofer. Running my TV audio through the R7 was a game changer, especially movie night. I currently have Spotify and TIDAL installed on the R7 and my personal digital music collection is stored on flash drives, SD cards, DAP and on my PC which can be accessed via my home network. The fact the R7 can take all these as inputs make it a worthwhile piece of equipment as an all encompassing interface. Because it has really nice built in DAC's and Amp's it really does make this the perfect piece of equipment for my HiFi needs. It has no trouble 'properly' powering my Fostex Argon headphones (the hardest to drive headphones in my collection) In fact, it makes them really shine. It does have a bit of a learning curve when getting used to the interface as it has a massive array of features. Once you are accustomed to the R7, and all its features, it really is a joy to navigate because of the touch screen (why aren't all pieces of HiFi supplied with a touch screen these days? Even, a touch screen remote would be great) Easily my favourite pieces of HiFi equipment. I'll probably get a turntable for it soon, at which point I will not need anything else. The fact I have had this for quite a while now, 4 months-ish at the time of writing this, and I still appreciate how useful and great sounding this item truly is tells you everything you need to know.

Very good multifunction streamer, good sound quality, have fitted the streamer on a Kanto Audio SE2 Desktop Speaker Stand with double side tape.

FiiO have created a wonderful bit of kit with the FiiO R7. Comes in black or white with every connection you will possibly need. Outstanding build quality and unique in appearance. The technicalities of the R7 are to numerous to mention in this review and if you are reading this review i recommend going to the FiiO website and reading what this remarkable bit of kit can do. It's up there with the best but with the R7 it is priced to be affordable. You will not be disappointed with the R7 I highly recommend it.

Overall very pleased with the R7, a little smaller than I thought, only issue is positioning the unit where you have clear sight of the display, not many instructions included but if you’re familiar with Android you’ll figure it out quickly. Very versatile and sound through headphones is very good!

Overall great, item had a single line of dead pixels, fairly sure could have returned it no issue, but decided not to Only major issue faced is optical input stutter, asked on support forum with no response. Is likely something specific to my PC setup, but did see other reports. Initially thought it would be a deal breaker, but usb-c decode speed has improved substantially since most reviews were written to (to me) a fairly imperceptible level Would be nice if optical worked and if support system was better, but overall, good product

Superb peice of kit for the price does all I need it to do plus some hooked up to 4tb external hdd for music once it scans the hdd your good to go super quite background with balanced output to amp. And on your cans drives all headphones with selectable gain loving it its so convenient next to bed for late nights listening

Déjà l'esthétique est superbe, les fonctions d'affichage également. Niveau son on monte d'un cran par rapport à mon ancien M11S. Une clarté et du détail frappent dès les premières notes et se confirme avec une écoute plus poussée. C'est un bijou à s'offrir les yeux fermés !

Es lo que estaba buscando para mi audio de escritorio. Aún no he explotado todas las funciones, pero después de varios meses usándolo a diario, me sigue pareciendo que tiene una calidad precio muy buena.

Klingt perfekt - High End würdig - und mein neuer Roon Endpunkt. Bedienung einfach, wenn man ein Tablet, bzw. Smartphone gewohnt ist. Auch der Sound als Kopfhörerverstärker top. PS.: wenn man das Gerät mit USB für Videosound am PC benötigt, sollte man eher zum R9 greifen, da das Audiosignal bei diesem Gerät zu sehr verzögert. Es gibt aber eine kleine Abhilfe, wenn man die Digitaleingänge verwendet. Bei reinem Audio ist das natürlich egal.

I use it to play my flac, aac, and mp3 files, sent to an external DAC and preamp, to a pair of Edifier 3000PRO speakers. I couldn't be happier with the sound and reliability. I chose this unit because I can load 3rd party apps like Neutron Music Player and MegaSync for the best music reproduction and no hassle automatic syncing of my music file libraries. I also have the remote control which works very well but must be purchased separately and is a little hard to get. Excellent product and value.FiiO makes great stuff.
