ESV Large Print Value Thinline Bible (TruTone, Raspberry, Floral Design)

This book has a format of two columns on each page which I think most bible readers will be used to. Binding and printing are to a good standard. The book size has been criticised elsewhere but it is a standard USA size which I find very comfortable to handle. Most importantly the paper used in this edition is not the thinnest and so the pages do not drag downwards as is the case of many large books. To give a practical example when I held the bible open at John the left hand side of the book moved downwards only a little. Those of us who hand hold the book to read will appreciate just how good that is! As a comparison I have the CEV version and the pages are much thinner and are very prone to slip. So it is a very nice book to read at the practical level. Footnotes and other essential cross references are kept to small print at the bottom of the page so that they do not interfere with continuous reading. I find this a very good translation although to enlarge on meanings I refer to other versions on occasion and it might be dishonest not to admit that. On the whole though it is a good reading version, but I am still not sure that it is 'better' than the Revised English, which I consider is still very undervalued. Nevertheless it is still my 'pick' of the large print bibles of which there are not that many really. One final note is that the text is clear and large of course but the font has 'tall upright character' which I am now settling down to but which I had not seen before. The easy to read properties of this bible are probably going to make it my favourite book.

I am amazed at the quality of this bible for the price. The embossed cover is so beautiful and everytime I hold it in my hands I can’t stop thinking what a special edition of the bible this is.

A very fine version.

A larger version of the large Print Compact Bible (see my other review) but still excellent, not quite a portable, but same clear text. Also worth buying - between this and the Large Compact, there's very little difference - the Compact perfect for travel, this larger one perfect for home as easier to handle.

Delivered fast and packed nicely. Love the colour. The font size is perfect for reading. There is a bit weight on it but still good if you plan to use it outside. God bless you!

As a student at a Christian university, this Bible was an ideal discovery for the following reasons: 1) Appearance: The size is perfect for toting around. Unlike some compact/condensed Bibles that end up too thick or lengthy, this one is small enough to pull out in class and easily fits in backpacks and purses. The cover's softness gives a comfortable, personal feeling to the Bible that is often missing with more rigid (even leather) textures. Consequent flexibility of the frame allows each page to stay in place regardless of its proximity to the beginning or end of the Book. Finally, the neutrality of its color--a sort of smokey blue shade--is subtle and appropriate for both sexes. 2) Content: I am very impressed by the amount of information included in this thin, lightweight edition. The introductions at the beginning of each chapter concisely combine the authorship, summary, context, key themes, and date of writing that usually span pages in regular study Bibles. The concordance is surprisingly thorough, and the footnotes are neither excessive nor lacking. 3) Text: I am all about structure, and my favorite aspect of this Bible is its clean organization. The font is clear and readable, slightly changing in different sections so that intros, section titles, and the canon are distinct and tidy. The layout is aesthetically pleasing throughout. Also, the accuracy of the ESV translation makes it widely embraced and preferred by Bible professors. You cannot go wrong with ESV. This product terminated an extensive search and failed attempts to find a smooth, slender, classy-looking Bible that provides a little extra context/information without being bulky. The product dimensions, weight, and content are hard to beat. I definitely recommend this Bible.

Beautiful Bible, perfect gift. The text is very easy to read and it is accessible to anyone. The presentation is beautiful and encourages one to read more. Great way to gift Gods word, whether to a friend/family, a stranger, of yourself. 10/10

My wife loves her new gift. What could be better than receiving the Word of God? The size is of this edition is very handy. She enjoys doing Bible study in bed. Her other Bible (the ESV Study Bible) is excellent, but huge and heavy. It needs to lay on a solid table, not on your lap. But the size of this edition is perfect. The font is still perfectly legible (any smaller, though, and it may require some squinting). The cover is very handsome. Beautiful!
