The best all-around CPU before 9950X3D is released
This is the best all-around CPU before 9950X3D is released. Its productivity performance is very strong, and the gaming scheduling issue has been resolved. All you need to do is use the "Balanced" power plan, install the latest chipset driver and press Win + G to open the game bar -> settings -> remember this is a game. Most games are auto-recognized, so this step isn't even necessary at all. In most cases, it performs similarly to a 7800X3D, and due to higher max frequency, the 7950X3D can even perform better in some cases. However, I do want to note that AMD has stopped the production of these units, and it'll be a pain to RMA when you encounter an issue. Most likely AMD will upgrade you to a later chip which is great if it doesn't take a long time. Also, there are some memory-related things people need to know before buying: 1. DDR5-8000 is the maximum the CPU will support. Anything higher is only supported by the Ryzen 9000 series, and DDR5-8000 is not necessarily a guarantee despite AMD / Mobo manufacturers advertising its support. 2. The CPU is incredibly unstable if you enable Memory Context Restore and *disable* Power Down Mode. If you want super fast (< 10s) boot times by enabling Memory Context Restore, you need to sacrifice the performance a little bit by enabling both Power Down Mode.

This CPU destroys any workload thrown at it! A++ 100% recommended.
AMD has restored my faith in their brand. Way back in early 2000s I had an AMD processor and it was terrible. 15-20 years later after deciding I didn't want to risk Intel's notoriously bad latest generation of CPUs in my new gaming PC build, I decided to give AMD another try. I did a lot of research about this little powerhouse and while some have had issues I've found it's more than likely a configuration issue on the users end rather than an issue with the CPU itself. The Ryzen 9 7950X3D completely obliterates anything I throw at it. I've run multiple resource intensive games simultaneously with this and it stayed at or below 70C. The base 4.20Ghz clock speed is zippy for everyday users, and the max 5.7Ghz clock is hard to even approach with how insanely well this thing performs. Mind you this is all my personal experience running notorious resource hogs like Diablo 4, World of Warcraft or even Ark. With this CPU and my RTX 4070 Super GPU, I'm running every game on the absolute max settings and it doesn't slow down. I've also used this same CPU as a work processor, I work in IT and it handles a heavy workload like it's a light breeze. Processing code, compiling data mapping, or having 70+ chrome tabs open. You can't slow this thing down. Keep in mind you'll need a AIO Liquid Cooler instead of typical air cooled units and a highly breathable PC Case to keep up with this CPU but the bang for the buck is worth it. Recommended MB is the Gigabyte Aorus X670 AX Elite. Dedicated CPU/SSD bus delivers lightning processing speed. Be sure to pair this with a low latency RAM kit and you'll be amazed. Can't recommend this CPU enough.

Fastest Desktop/Gaming PC CPU I've ever had
7950x3d. In my Gaming / Streaming PC, smashes anything I throw at it. Right now, I am gaming at 1440p, high refresh rates, 150+, maxed out graphics, stream at 1080p/60fps and this CPU barely reaches like 25-35% load OCCASIONALLY. Going to be upgrading and running this system at 4K at some point in the near future, and I am sure gaming, streaming, recording and video editing at 4K will finally make this thing sweat but for right now, this CPU is WAYYY more powerful than what I'm throwing at it. But I like that. I like not having fps stutters and spikes anymore. I had a FX-8350 for 10 years and finally upgraded to 7950x3d in 2024. That FX processor finally started feeling slow around 2020 when cyberpunk came out. TLDR: Awesome CPU that will smash anything in 2k and 4k you throw at it. There isn't a GPU out there that's too fast for this CPU.

Beast of a CPU, sayonara Intel
Bought this for gaming and multitasking after being thoroughly let down by recent Intel CPU offerings. Got sick of issues with e-cores being total garbage that killed my fps, and turning off most of the cores on my cpu didn't seem like a good solution so I went back to AMD after 12 years of Intel chips. Installation was a breeze, was able to get Expo to work on DDR5 6000MT ram that was on my motherboard QVL no problem. 16 cores is nuts. Mine is stable at 5.4 GHz on a full custom water loop, temps are never higher than 55C. Uses less power than my old i5-13600k and temps are better, too! It is so weird playing a cpu heavy game and seeing 10% cpu usage. Installed with a thermalright AM5 socket mount on a MSI X670E Tomahawk mono. The socket mount is great, it makes it impossible to get thermal paste all over the caps on the cpu and keeps it on the cpu heat-spreader. Extremely happy with the performance, this cpu is a monster. Intel's design ideas of strapping on 10 year old garbage atom cores to their new high performance cores is a really annoying decision because if you are like me still on windows 10, any core can get assigned any task. Had a game get assigned e-cores to render threads and the fps was bouncing between 60 and 7, it was a nightmare. After installing AMD chipset drivers and switching power plan back to balanced, I haven't had any issues at all with this chip. Was even able to use the same windows install I used for my Intel setup without issues.

Beast of a CPU after completing proper setup
This is the fastest CPU I have ever used, but it works differently than you might think compared to a normal CPU without 3d cache. You will need these requirements to unlock the capabilities of the best cpu on the market from AMD: After install physically: 1. Install amd chipset drivers so that the 3d vcache optimization services are running. This will access the full use of this 3d cache feature. You can find this as an installation option when you first run AMD Adrenaline software. 2. Download and jnstall Process Lasso. You will need this to set your games CPU affinity to the first 8 cores. These are the 3D vcache cores and by setting the affinity in process lasso you will guarantee whatever game or program you are running is exclusively using 3d vcache. You can also optionally disable the second CCD (CCD 1) in the bios and this will force everything to run on 8 3d vcache cores. I wouldn't recommend that though as if you're buying this CPU you're likely using it for productivity tasks as well as gaming, which makes process lasso a good solution. Even though this CPU requires a bit more effort to get going, once it is running properly this thing is an absolute monster and will tear through any workload you throw at it.
