The opening should be 11.75/15.75”

what is the outside dimension of the 12x16 door? I'm assuming the dimensions given are the size of the opening?

the one i have measures out to be 12 1/2 by 7 on the outside i just measured it

What type of silicone should I use to bond it?

I used a standard white silicone in a tube. It was bathroom and kitchen silicone

Sheetrock acces

We put this behind our washing machine to cover a valve in the wall I put in to tap a cold water line. Worked well for us but it is very thin and flimsy. If it will need regular use it might not be what you are looking for. But for limited use and a quick patch in Sheetrock it works really well! I would buy it again.
