THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLING NOVEL A BARRACK OBAMA READING PICK A lone astronaut. An impossible mission. An ally he never imagined. 'The most enjoyable hard SF I have read in years' GUARDIAN 'Weir's finest work to date. . . This is the one book I read last year that I am certain I can recommend to anyone, no matter who, and know they'll love it.' BRANDON SANDERSON 'If you like a lot of science in your science fiction, Andy Weir is the writer for you. . . This one has everything fans of old school SF (like me) love.' GEORGE R.R. MARTIN 'Brilliantly funny and enjoyable. One of the most plausible science fiction books I've ever read ' TIM PEAKE, astronaut ________________________________________ Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company. His crewmates dead, his memories fuzzily returning, Ryland realizes that an impossible task now confronts him. Hurtling through space on this tiny ship, it's up to him to puzzle out an impossible scientific mystery-and conquer an extinction-level threat to our species. And with the clock ticking down and the nearest human being light-years away, he's got to do it all alone. Or does he? An irresistible interstellar adventure as only Andy Weir could imagine it, Project Hail Mary is a tale of discovery, speculation, and survival to rival The Martian -- while taking us to places it never dreamed of going. ________________________________________ 'One of the most original, compelling, and fun voyages I've ever taken.' ERNEST CLINE, author of Ready Player One and Ready Player Two 'Undisputedly the best book I've read in a very, very long time. Mark my words: Project Hail Mary is destined to become a classic.' BLAKE CROUCH 'Andy Weir's brilliant Project Hail Mary ...is one of those stirring sci-fi novels about every government on Earth banding together, through science, to save civilisation from collapse. I loved it.' THE TIMES 'A suspenseful portrait of human ingenuity and resilience [that] builds to an unexpectedly moving ending. A winner.' PUBLISHERS WEEKLY 'Weir returns with gusto . . . his writing flows naturally, and his characters and dialogue crackle with energy. With this novel, he takes his place as a genuine star in the mainstream SF world.' BOOKLIST Review: A Stellar Introduction to Sci-Fi: A Review of Project Hail Mary - As someone who has never been an avid reader, Project Hail Mary holds a highly personal milestone for me: it is the first novel—and the first book—I have ever read cover to cover. To say it was an amazing experience would be an understatement. The book is so incredibly gripping that I devoured it in less than a week. The narrative quality is top-tier. The author's writing is exceptionally immersive and vivid; I could clearly visualize the entire story unfolding in my mind like a film. It is rare to find a story that captures your imagination so completely, but the pacing and world-building here are truly the best of the best. I would rate both the story and the science a perfect 10/10. Even though it is firmly rooted in science fiction, the scientific elements are brilliant, engaging, and make the stakes feel incredibly real. The plot balances complex concepts with high-stakes thrills flawlessly. Overall, this book is a masterpiece. I give it my highest possible recommendation to anyone interested in space and sci-fi. If a novel can turn a non-reader into someone who finishes a book in mere days, it is undeniably something special. Review: "An Epic Sci-Fi Adventure with Heart, Humor, and Brilliance" - Project Hail Mary is one of the most gripping, emotionally satisfying, and cleverly written sci-fi novels I’ve ever read. From the very first page, I was hooked by the mystery and momentum—and it never let go. The story blends science, survival, and humor with perfection. The pacing is spot-on: never slow, never rushed. Just like The Martian, Andy Weir’s signature wit shines through, but here he adds a surprising amount of heart and emotional depth—especially in the bond between the characters. The climax is absolutely epic, and the conclusion left me stunned in the best way. It’s not just a great sci-fi story—it’s a celebration of friendship, sacrifice, and problem-solving at the edge of the universe. If you want a book that makes you laugh, think, and maybe even tear up a little—this is it. A modern sci-fi classic.

Great sci-fi with heart & unexpected allies
“Oh, thank God. I can’t imagine explaining “sleep” to someone who had never heard of it. Hey, I’m going to fall unconscious and hallucinate for a while. By the way, I spend a third of my time doing this. And if I can’t do it for a while, I go insane and eventually die. No need for concern.” Imagine waking up, with no memory of who or where you are. That’s what happens to our protagonist who wakes up from a cryo-esque sleep in space. Think of him as humanity’s last hope to divert an energy crisis, looking for solutions and finding unexpected allies. No pressure! Similar to the author’s previous work, The Martian, every obstacle in this book is met with intellect, creativity, and duct tape-level improvisation and a lot of sarcasm and self-deprecating humor as a coping mechanism. Themes exploring friendship transcending species, reworking your identity from scratch from habits and a fuzzy return of memories and healthy collaboration! Yay! It perfectly encapsulates the essence of humanity; what it means to be both selfish and unselfish, scared, helpful and curious. Far from perfect but full of nerdy epiphanies and an ending you won't see coming but will make sense. It’s a hopeful, feel good, slice of life but will keep you at the edge of your seat read!

Such a beautiful and crazy book.
What an extraordinary book! I've just finished it, and honestly, mere words can't convey the depth of my emotions. The 8-10 hours spent immersed in its pages were truly among the most profound of my life. If I could, I'd forfeit anything for the chance to experience it again as if for the very first time. The premise—a man on an interstellar mission to save Earth and humanity—might sound clichéd, but believe me, this book shatters all expectations of boredom. I was captivated from the opening page. By the third chapter, a powerful connection had formed, sending shivers down my spine, making it utterly impossible to set aside. The narrative's beauty was such that I simultaneously wished it would never end and yet found myself compelled to finish it in a single sitting. There was even a moment when my vision blurred from tears, a testament to the sheer emotional resonance of the story. The surge of excitement, the gnawing anxiety, the pure happiness, and the rekindling of my love for all things astrophilic—these feelings are simply beyond description. The writing is incredibly lucid and brilliant, making even high-level physics comprehensible to anyone. I didn't just read this book; I truly lived within its pages. I don't know how much justice the movie will do, but I'm glad I lived this story through the book, and no movie adaptation can come close to this. My lifelong aspirations of becoming an astronomer, venturing into distant galaxies, and traveling through space remained unfulfilled (and realistically, modern astronomers don't physically explore other galaxies). However, Andy Weir's masterpiece allowed me to embark on that journey, and I'm currently overwhelmed by an indescribable sense of wonder.

Facinating Sci-Fi novel with a fresh new premise.
Project Hail Mary is for people who understand Science. Physics actually. Not a whole lot, but that would ensure that reader has an aptitude and tolerance for Physics. There is plenty of Physics, yet evenbone with basic knowledge of college physics will want to read through, will not want to skip pages, and wants to keep reading till the end. The premise of the book is itself new. Not the usual sci-fi. It feels like ypubare reading some new revelation. As one approaches the end, one reads with bated breath for the outcomebas per the author. Learnt a lot about space travel and life on a spaceship and piloting it. Definitely an enjoyable, fascinating and enlightening read for a person with college physics knowledge.

Wow, another ripping yarn!
Great series of stories. Shows great insight into science. Cliff hanger plot. Loved it. Not sure how you would do justice in a movie, but hope so.

Sci-fi masterpiece
I absolutely adored PHM. It has everything: adventure, humanity, encounters with alien life forms, suspense, science, and, yes, emotion. I was in awe of the book. What a story. A rather ordinary science teacher is sent to a distant star to save planet Earth and meets an alien, Rocky, who is trying to save his own planet. A beautiful friendship blossoms between the teacher and the alien. It's such a beautiful story. Not a scientific person myself, I wasn't in the least put off by the science in the book. In fact, it's wondrous. This will stay with me for a long time. A truc sci-fi masterpiece and a great story, whether you like the genre or not.

Bence Weir'in en iyi kitabı
Weir yine bilimsel detaylar, denklemler, hesaplar vererek harika bir kurgu yazmış. Bitireli baya oldu hala daha üzerine düşündüğüm bir kitap.

1000% recommend getting this book.
An amazing book. I never finish books really. Always start them, but never end up finishing them. Andy Weirs work I can never put down. So far he’s 2/2 with this and the Martian. Hopefully the Artemis is this good. 10000/10 recommend getting this book.
