The Jolly Postman

This is a lovely book, one which I used to read as a child and just had to get it for my own children, I brought one for my neighbours daughter and all of her family love it so are all buying one for their children. A lovely book you can sit and read together or a book they can enjoy on their own.

My favourite childhood book - made a great Christening present

I forgot how much I loved this book as a child. I bought it for my children and they are just as engrossed as I remember myself being. They loved opening all the mail and the connection to familiar storybook characters. It’s a new favourite in our household.

I bought The Jolly Postman for my youngest nephew because his grandad is a Royal Mail postman — and I thought it would be a cute little nod to the family profession. What I didn’t expect was how seriously he would take it. The interactive envelopes inside the book are brilliant. Pulling out the little letters makes story time feel more like an event than just reading a book. My nephew now insists on “checking the post properly,” which basically means we must open every envelope with great ceremony. The illustrations are charming and detailed, and the story is simple enough for younger children to follow but still entertaining. It’s one of those books that encourages participation, which is ideal when attention spans are… flexible. It also sparked some hilarious conversations about whether Grandad secretly delivers mail to fairy tale characters on his route. Ogni due pagine c'è un busta contenente una lettera che il postino recapita a casa del destinatario: è meraviglioso da sfogliare! Conosco questo libro da anni, l'ho sempre trovato magico e ne consiglio vivamente l'acquisto! L'edizione in italiano è fuori produzione.

I had The Jolly Postman when I was little, and it was such a joy to share it with my daughter! The story is fun and engaging, but the real magic is in the little letters tucked inside for kids to open. She absolutely loves reading the notes and discovering each surprise, just like I did years ago. The interactive element makes it even more special, and it’s a wonderful way to bring storytelling to life. A must-have for any child’s bookshelf!
