How is the sizing does it run small? Buying for daughter in law who takes a large should I size up?

so im 5 foot 6 inches, pretty darn skinny though and small does me right. I tried medium and the waist isent bad either but the small waist does it better for me. And the medium is also a little long. Not sure but if the person is roomy in the hips they might need a larger size plus hemmed pants, but the material is super strechy. And sooooo comfoy :). like im not sure why we arent all wearing womens panjama pants tbh when i tried these suckers on lololol
