Did you know that there's a Magic Tree House book for every kid? Magic Tree House: Adventures with Jack and Annie, perfect for readers who are just beginning chapter books Merlin Missions: More challenging adventures for the experienced reader Super Edition: A longer and more dangerous adventure Fact Trackers: Nonfiction companions to your favorite Magic Tree House adventures Review: Great kids books that are sneakily educational - We started reading the magic tree house series after a trip to America where I think the books are more widely known. The stories follow Jack and Annie on their travels through time to various places in history in a magic tree house. The books are all 10 chapters in length and are all based around some form of historic event or time. For example, we've read about the pyramids, ancient Greece, Pompei and the wild west to name few. As much as the books are fun fictional stories, the subject matter is factual and educational without children seeing it as such. Each story book does have an accompanying fact book although I can't comment on these as we haven't bought them. They did run an English version of the books (which are American based) for the first few although eventually they went back to a common series. We're on book 22 now and I believe there's more than 40. My 4 year old is too young to read them herself, although now she's learning to read at school she does read some of the words. They're probably better suited to 6+ as actual reading material. If like us though you're looking for a good bedtime series to get your teeth into then I can't recommend them enough. Good stories - but this is an American edition
My son loves the Magic Tree House stories and we have quite a few from a British publisher. This boxed set however is from an American publisher and therefore published in American English. Obviously the American version is the original, but if you buy these books to help your child with reading and spelling, make sure you get the right version.

Great first chapter books!
These books are GREAT. They're easy to read, but not dumbed down. The characters have adventures, but they're "not too scary" (a high compliment from the 8-year-old who made me turn off Frozen). They give interesting glimpses into history and different cultures. They make really great first chapter books! I started out reading them at bedtime, two chapters at a time, but that apparently wasn't fast enough, because they disappeared into the kids' room and two days later they demanded I order the next four.

Read with imagination!
I homeschool my son and ordered these books for him to read. We started with book 1. They are 10 Chapters each. He can easily get through 1 book a week. He enjoys these books - so it’s never a struggle to get him to read. It’s very engaging for kids, let’s them read with imagination. I definitely recommend!
