Ring Automotive BRL0397 Aurora LED Daytime Running Lamps

Considering the price, these Ring units are seriously great quality !I expected them to be a little 'plastiky' and for the price, they possibly should be, but quite the opposite.The DRLs have a glass lens, the bodies are heavy resin (almost steel to the touch) the wire at the rear of the unit is completely silicone sealed and waterproof and the brackets are very solid.There are 2 allen bolts to hold & adjust them and the cables are plenty long enough. The cables also have a good plastic sleeving to protect them and the Auto switching unit has a metal black anodized casing. Stunning quality !I had some fiddling about with the fitment, but that was due to my car and not the DRLs. Just lack of space and me making sure the whole fitment was spot on.They are superb in the daylight. I have them connected to the main beam (simple one wire connection) and as soon as you switch the lights on, the DRLs switch off. Simple.In conclusion, I can only thoroughly recommend the Ring Aurora DRL. The quality is simply stunning and the performance is top notch !

Excellent product.I originally fitted these to a Renault Clio but when I sold it, I just took them off & fitted them to my Honda Blackbird motorcycle, just under the mirrors.They are really bright & diffuse the 'beam' sideways allowing viewing from the sides as well as the front.The lamps are very bright during the day, not far off a headlamp & the switching circuit is really simple to wire.they literally are fit & forget.

The lights were supplied hoked up to a temporary battery pack so you could test to ensure they were working. Lights very bright as stated and depending on where or how you mount them they are easy to install. The switching unit supplied has short leads for my installation but should be OK for a normal sized car with the battery under the bonnet - easy install but would solder or use crimp connections rather than scotch lock to ensure no loose connection. Excellent product and a good price saying as how supplied with the switching unit which has worked for the last two weeks so time will tell - made by Ring so should be good.

These are very easy to fit using the self adhesive strips, to any flat clean surface. Just make sure you position them correctly first time. The lights as so bright you can't actually tell they are 5 separate LEDs.... its a solid bar of light, much brighter than the daisey chain LEDs on Audis.You can't change the lighting configuration..... they have to be connected directly to the battery. The lighting control module "spots" the battery voltage dropping as the starter is engauged, & increasing as the alternator kicks in, switching them on. The only off function (apart from automatically 5 seconds after the engine is turned off) is to connect the third wire to another light source. I've connected it to the dipped beam, so they still work in conjuction with the side lights. I think they would be too bright & distracting after dark with dipped beams. The are DRLs after all !! They show up on a bright sunny day, & look good too. Fitted in 20 minutes within the lower grill. Note - they are higher than most DRLs due to their reflector design so make sure they will fit.#### UPDATE :: After a year of service.... I've now added a remote LED dimmer unit to thses (£9.99 from Discountlightinguk) & so can control the brighness of these at dawn / dusk when they tend to dazzle people. Works fine... but... on a very dim setting, the auto detect on/off function may not detect that the ignition has gone off & the lights stay on permanently. I just experimented until the setting was right (not too dim) for the auto off function to work..... & of course its my own custom set up so can't blame the lights or dimmer unit.

These were bought to replace a previous set of BRL0397 lamps with a failed component which was no longer available.On opening the box I found 2 battery holders, each with 4 batteries, but no explanation as to the purpose of these. From reading earlier reviews it would appear to be for testing the lamps before fixing. Unfortunately 5 of the batteries were corroded and leaking and the other 3 were flat, and one wire from each holder was cut off.On fitting the lamps I had to mount the control module behind one wing, this meant that one of the connecting wires was about 50 cm too short. This was easily rectified but was inconvenient.On testing the lights they worked and switched off as they should, however when I turned the engine off they continued to flash intermittently. This was found to be caused by a battery charger being connected , when disconnected the lights functioned normally. I had used this charger for the last 5 years when the vehicle was in store with the previous set of lamps with no problems. I now have to remove the lamp fuse when the charger is connected.

Quick delivery and a good price, fitting was easy and they look good on my Audi TT Mk.1 Roadster where they are set into the left and right air intakes. Only criticism is no explanation as to what the two sets of AA batteries and prewired packs are for in the instructions. Turns out they are for testing the two lights at 12v before fitting them. Once testing is done the battery packs can be discarded. Mine arrived with the pre-wiring on the battery packs broken which made it even more puzzling as to what they were for. Amazon very quickly replaced them which solved the mystery when the new set arrived. Lights themselves are of a good solid construction and superior to most others I have seen in this price range.
