For years I've purchased really inexpensive drugstore lipsticks. I really like the makeup itself, but the original packaging is disappointing. It seems to crack very easily, and the tubes are not deep enough to fully retract the tip of the lipstick "bullet" and keep it protected when removing or replacing the cap. I end up replacing my lipsticks before they are "panned," because I inevitably destroy the tip when opening or closing the case, or the cover cracks and the whole thing gets crumbs inside the case. I looked up online to see if there is a method to "refill" nicer lipstick tubes, using any preferred lipstick. It's easy to find the more detailed info online. Essentially: put the full lipstick into the freezer for about 30 minutes, to harden. When very firm, grasp with a tissue and pull to remove the makeup only from the tube. Then immediately, gently press it into the new tube. Youtube has plenty of tutorials if you wish to preview the process of transferring lipstick into a different case. I found that these cases fit both the Wet n Wild Silk finish, and their Satin finish lipsticks in diameter, and also in length. I didn't test these cases with any other lipsticks. Now I can fully retract them into the new, beautiful tube before replacing the cap. No more broken tips! I also used a 'scridger' type of tool (the green tool pictured) to lift off the lipstick labels and transfer them to the bottom of my new cases so that I can remember which color is which when it's time to replace a favorite color, since these cases are all identical. When I've used up a lipstick, if the fancy case is still in good condition, I plan to carefully clean the empty tube with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol. These seem to be pretty durable, as well as attractive, but only time will tell if they last longer than the lipstick I'm placing inside.
