Exillent tarp for camping

Excellent Tarp, especially when the weather is against you.
I already use a DD Travel Hammock with a 3m x 3m tarp, but since I had a swinging weekend planned :-) and the weather was looking particularly bad I thought I would upgrade to a larger tarp, so bought this XL 4.5m x 3m. As with the other DD tarps, this is an excellent piece of kit. Lots of strong tie points. In fact at one stage the wind was blowing so hard it broke one of my lightweight karabiners holding the tarp (continuous ridgeline) but the tie points all remained secure. The tarp is a little bulky, but it is a good size and allows you to place over the hammock with enough spare at each end to seal off and make a very cosy cocoon. As you would expect from DD, the tarp is extremely well made with reinforced corners and the new multicam pattern worked well in our wooded location. I would recommend this as an addition to your hanging kit, especially if you aren't just a fair weather user.

It’s massive!
Bought to use mainly for hammock camping and also a bit of tarpology. Took it out the first time and it was so big I had to hang it sideways over my hammock, with more than enough to spare. Bonus is, this meant that I was able to close the sides in like doors at night to keep more heat in, without sacrificing and headroom for general tasks (like organising my boots and pack). Love it so much I might buy another slightly smaller as a tandem system.

It’s waterproof, tested as a flat box section, did get very weighed down and saggy (not shown),
1 kg does get heavy, but you get a lot of tarp, for most tarp configurations you waste half of as ground sheet, not good for its waterproof fabric.

Worth every penny, versatile and easy to use
Great bit of kit, packs away to the size of a larger can, so many designs from a flat sheet, waterproof and quite lightweight for its size, great quality
