When the child Arthurโs father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthurโs uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacyโฆwhether he likes it or not. Review: Nicely done Mr Richie - *** This review may contain spoilers *** This arrived on Bluray Monday and we sat last night with no expectations to watch. From the opening sequences to the end this is an excellent movie, humorous in places in that way the Guy is know for but action packed. It moves away from the usual romantic image of Arthur and in its place gives us a man who is the opposite of a hero. He does not want his birthright he is quite happy ducking and diving, running scams and schemes whilst protecting the brothel and the inhabitants that rescued and raised him. I thought Charlie was very good match for this role, he looses the odd American accent he has and what comes out is good east end boy. For me this gave him a role to actually grow into as I am going to assume there will be more films in this franchise. The cameo by David Beckham is excellent, the expression on his face was worth it! Review: Great Film - Yes it was panned by some, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was great that somebody grabbed hold of the Myth, because that's what the legend of King Arthur is, a myth and they didn't try to go down the "Well we have narrowed the who was King Arthur search down to a dozen people, that's if he even existed, so lets make a historic film" avenue..I'm looking at you monotone Clive Owen and that god awful King Arthur film!! It's Disney's Sword In The Stone + Game of Thrones + mixed with Lock Stock + Some "Geezers" + loud music and sounds (Brilliant through quality headphones) and then add an over the top Jude Law and you get a great popcorn movie, if you watch this with a "Oooh this isn't King Arthur" then you'll hate it, everybody else, just watch the spectacle.

A pleasant Surprise
As a long-time lover of the King Arthur legend I put off watching this film due to how it was panned by all the critics. Now I've watched it, I love it. O.k. it veers away from the traditional legend as we know it but Camelot, the Lady of the Lake, Excalibur are all there. I'm sure the other elements would have come in, in the planned sequels. I thought Arthur was a strong character and the Sword Excalibur was a character in itself, the battle scenes with it in action were amazing. I also liked the depiction of the Lady in the Lake and the Mage who helped Arthur. Overall a very entertaining mythical, medieval, action packed film, the sort to make You feel good after You've watched it. I would have loved to have seen the sequels and where Guy Ritchie would have gone with the tale.

Worth a watch, quirky and fun high fantasy.
Saw this on a flight recently and it made me realise how terrible the marketing was for this film as I enjoyed it far more than expected. It's a high fantasy take on the Arthur legend and despite a relatively small budget pretty good effects. The Lock Stock style of characters does give it a very British feel but I do wish Guy Ritchie could imagine a world that wasn't entirely faux cockney for a minute. Worth a watch. Enjoyable film and now the bluray is so cheap well worth supporting British movies.

Fabulous and out of this world
As other reviewers have suggested, this is not like the original story of King Arthur. Frankly that doesn't matter, we watched this cliff hanger and loved every minute of it. It was indeed mostly fantasy but brilliantly acted by Charlie Hunnam in the lead role. There was a sense of realism but in our view the overall effect was one of giving free magnificent reign to the imagination. We found the story easy to follow and would recommend it.

An unfairly criticised film. A shame it flopped.
Right this is an honest review from someone who has liked some Guy Richie movies and hated some others, especially 'Revolver. After noticing that this new King Arthur film flopped and reading the bad reviews, I only bought this film as I have just upgraded to 4k and was fed up waiting for more critical acclaimed films to be released. So I bought this only to test my new 4k bluray player never expecting to like the film. I was therefore very surprised how good the film is. Unlike the last big budget King Arthur film, it does not try to fit the legend into a historical context, thus compromising the fantasy element unlike 2004s 'King Arthur'. It is also not as weak willed and plastic as the 'First Night' film. This movie is for people who liked 'Excalibur' although fans of that great 70s movie may have a gripe with the liberties it takes with the establish mythology. Guy Richie tries to reinvent the myth but he launches his version head first into the realms of fantasy without constraining the magical tale us fantasy lovers like. I respect that. The film looks great, the acting was better than expected and I feel the criticism is unfair. I enjoyed and the fact i was expecting to dislike it, made my enjoyment even better. Shame there will be no sequel due to it flopping at the box office and not making a profit. All I ask is you watch it with an open mind and try not be annoyed at the deviations from what we, the ones who hold 'Excalibur' as the bench mark of King Arthur films, and you may be pleasantly surprised. Overall, a film unfairly criticised. PS: one thing that may annoy you is the cockney accents that seem to suit the film Snatch more than a fantasy tale set in medieval timeline ..... if that doesn't spoil it for you, nothing should. Leave these small gripes at the door and you should enjoy it like i did.

A bit less scary than the cinema version.
I saw this first in the cinema and though the monsters are less scary on the smaller screen (and none the worse for that in my view, coward that I am), it has been great to revisit this fun filled take on the Arthurian legend. The setting in the ruins of Roman Londinium are cleverly used to ground the film in some sort of reality while the magical interludes are cleverly intercut. Arthur himself is handsome enough to be a heart throb and laddish enough to give us a great sense of a real person who might be behind the legend. I hope that there are a couple of sequels in the offing.

I bought the movie because I seen it before and really liked it. It was a Blu Ray and digital download for a great price.
