Extra Large Fair Trade Bamboo Wind Chime from Bali

Why did you choose this product over others?: I chose this product because of the reviews! Cause how do you choose a wind-chime from a picture? And I'm so grateful for reviews cause what a gorgeous thing this is! Looks lovely, well made, big, quite a statement, but the sound it emits is just so mellow. Very soothing, not clangy or jangly, not jarring like some that really get on your nerves! Quite loud, so we hook the dongly bit up at night cause we really like our neighbours! Any way lovely product and super duper value, trust me!!

Chimes arrived pretty quickly and were well wrapped. Upon inspection the interior of the chimes were covered in a what I presumed to be a black dust but was easily removed with a duster. The sound the chimes make is deliciously mellow, definitely not intrusive if you have close by neighbours like we do. My only criticism is the hook they supply to hang it with as it’s very flimsy and not up to the job of hanging the chimes safely. Other than that I would recommend…

Arrive quickly, and a sound quality made wind chime. Ready to hang straight out on the box, plus the sound is nice when the wind blows (not over loud)

Having had this in my garden over the summer months last year I was quite surprised at how quickly the bamboo was beginning to split. I suppose I should have known better really, bamboo bean canes do the same thing after a short period exposed to the elements. This got me thinking.., could I somehow prevent this from happening? Well after a quick look in the shed I found some 'Waterproof' PVA Wood Glue and with that disassembled my wind chime and started painting wood glue on every piece. I even painted wood glue on some toilet roll tubes and inserted into the ends of the bamboo to give it extra strength. These are invisible when hanging and as it happens using wood glue gave a really good clear glossy finish. I actually gave each piece two more coats for good measure and now my wind chime is now restored to it's former glory and no longer splits :)

I bought this as I enjoy the sound of windchimes. On opening it I discovered one of the holes in the top was cracked so one of the pipes wasn't in place. It was reasonably easy to fix with a bit of tape, but doesn't hang exactly in place. However it does make a lovely soothing sound when the wind blows or a small toddler runs past it and whacks it one.
