A good book, brought for my self taught dad.
Brought for my dad who loves making things, as he is self taught I thought it would be a good gift for him and a chance to maybe learn new techniques. He was extremely impressed with the book with lots of new fancy joints for him to practice. I was a little disappointed when I saw that over half of the book required 'machines' to do the steps however after a closer look you will see that by machines the book means certain hand held saws and general tools that you can pick up from the hardware store, some joints do require big machines but not many, overall an excellent buy.

no weed and no papers?
I bought this halfheartedly on an amazon recommendation. It was cheap enough and I was about to be making a lot of joints in timber (windows). I intended to use open mortice and tenon joints, and have done them before, so expected little from the book, however it is a very nice well printed book and contains good clear explanations. It told me that a coping saw was handy for cutting out the bottom of the mortice. I had been drilling and chiseling out the mortice, so now I have ordered some new coping saw blades, and will be putting that into practice. It was worth it just for that, how much time will that save me!

A wonderful book.
This is a fascinating book. It is fun just to study, or at least to consider how I will use the various joints. This book shows and tells how to improve the beauty of a project. There are things I knew little about...it is especially helpful to know which joints are strongest and how to properly strengthen them by making a few variations. It is very nice to have the binding the way it is so I can take it into the shop and not fear it being beat up by using it there. I wish I had purchased this book 30 years ago. My wife is amused to repeatedly find me sitting on the love seat looking at this book! I have shown her a few of the joints and she is impressed...even asked me if I needed a new tool to make the joints. (How many men have a wife like mine for 44 years? None!)
