Performance over all else.
Bought this to replace a dying CPU fan. Points: * This fan is loud. However, it's not as loud as you might expect. This can be mitigated by setting your fan curves in your BIOS to only go above 20% when under load, and also just wearing headphones. 20% is easily enough to keep the fan no louder than my few remaining Molex fans (hey, they're ancient but the airflow is fantastic), while still keeping it cool at low load. It does get fairly loud on heavy loads (Mine is set to go to 100% at 65'C), but I find video game audio drowns it out pretty well. It might bother you if you're doing other intensive tasks like video rendering. * This fan is effective. I'm getting 10'C lower temps under prime95 load. Considering I did nothing but replace the CPU fan and I'm just using a regular Hyper 212 EVO cooler, that's damn good. * The rubber corner pads are brown. I dislike it, but it's not exactly ugly. You can swap them out with the coloured pads that come with Chromax fans and that you can buy separately. I changed mine to solid black. * This fan is designed for pressure, not for airflow. You'll want one of the S12A variants of whichever series for case fans (The A12 variants are good all-rounders also). In summary: This is a very good fan, but you should only buy this if you only about performance above all else. Buy a different Noctua fan if you want a good balance of volume and performance. The Chromax line is good and looks pretty.

High Airflow / Static Pressure at low RPM
These are honestly the best «high static pressure» fans I have ever seen. They can be used anywhere, but you need high static pressure fans if you are going to use them with a radiator/water cooling. I bought these to replace my NZXT Kraken Z73 360MM AIO's stock fans - which are not bad, but are weaker in terms of performance / speed / static pressure. I honestly expected more noise for 1800rpm, so was pleasantly surprised - I'm running 3 of them in my system and at speeds of up to 1800 rpm - the fans operate in surprising silence. · They're so efficient that even at around 50-60% (1500-1800 rpm) speed they're keeping everything cool and run virtually inaudible. · At 60-75% (1800-2250 rpm) they make a "swoosh" noise that's acceptable (and a lot better than the average annoying fan sound). · At 75%-100% (2250-3000 rpm) - we can hear a more serious noise, but I don't see the need to run it at those speeds unless you're cooling a very hot radiator. 👉 It's also very important to say they look very good; build quality is impressive; the sleeved cables and anti-vibration pads are top notch. ✔ Pros: + High static pressure at low RPM (perfect for radiators) + Focused airflow (meaning straight air path for better dissipation) + Low noise levels + Superior build quality / Top notch materials ✖ Cons: <none> I will update if I find anything on continuous use. Overall, I'm extremely happy and will buy again in the future. Definitely recommended! ↘ ↘ ↘ I rely on reviews when I make purchases, so I put a lot of time into reviewing everything I buy on Amazon. Are you an enthusiast? Seeking ultimate performance? These are for you.
Okay, I wanted to write a proper review of my experiences with Noctua and their products which involves the 3000 RPM fans. In 2014 I bought their top of the line air cooler. Big, chunky and silent. Allowed my 4790K to get up to 4.8Ghz. I then build an absolute monster of a PC in 2018 with 2x 2080 Tis and 9900K. This included 2x Revo D5 pumps and 3x 480mm CoolStream XE radiators from EKWB and 1x 240mm Coolstream XE radiator also from EKWB. They're all thickest they offer. I wanted to make sure I buy fans optimised for radiators and I wanted to make sure they move a lot of air and are proper pressure fans. It was no brainer to get 3000 RPM 120mm Noctua fans. I however asked Noctua if I can use 3x Commander Pro (since my motherboard doesn't have enough fan ports) for 16 of these bad boys. Andreas Karner from Noctua Support Team replied to me the next day. I explained that I am using multiple Commander Pros and wanted to ask if their fans will be compatible as I am planning to buy many of them. They did research, which surprised me. No other company would do that. That's incredible. They explained that Commander Pro takes maximum of 4.5A combined and each Noctua fan will consistently eat only 0.3A per fan header. This means 6x fan headers * 0.3A = 1.8A total! They explained that I could also contact Corsair as it's their product and it would be more to do with their product rather than their Noctua fans. Very understandable and excellent response to my question so I decided to buy 14 of these. All the rads are now taken. Minimum speed allowed with latest Commander Pro with it's firmware updated is 500 RPM. Slight ticking noise, but you need to put your head next to the fan to hear it. Any speed set by Commander Pro these fans will follow. Very loud at 3000 RPM as they're obviously INDUSTRIAL fans, not made for typical home PC. People leaving bad reviews need to understand that these are not advertised for their quietness but excellent performance. 110CFM and 7.62H20 of pressure. Compared to Corsair ML120 Pro fans... 4.2H20 of pressure and 75CFM. Huge difference. Price wise, the Noctua fans are only £4-5 more expensive, but you do get an extra year of warranty (TOTAL of 6 YEARS!). Air goes through my thick rads like bullets through paper. The average temperatures on my GPUs and CPU is as follows: After gaming with open window: 1st 2080 Ti topped at 32C, second 2080 Ti topped up at 35C and CPU topped up at 45C. With ML120 Pros it was more like 36-39C on GPUs and 50C on CPU. This overall picture combined together with excellent Amazon support is what makes these fans purchased on Amazon so good.

Uber quiet and does what it says on the box
Great fan, oh so quiet, I chose this for my Minisforum BD895i SE Mini ITX build because of the reviews, it is uber quiet, even when on full power, inside the Fractal Ridge case you cannot see or hear it, which is what you want it to dom thought i might need a water cooler, but alas no need

This fan is really very good for "direct" cooling
1. This fan is designed not for consumer PC 2. If you use it for PC, you should know what to expected and where place it. 3. This fan is really very good for "direct" cooling, I mean, not use it as case fan I to push/pull. Just use it for CPU heat-sink Really good product. Corsair C70, Asus Maximus VIII Hero Alpha, I7-6700K (4200MHz - stock), GSkill 16GB (Overclocked to 3200MHz), Asus GTX980TI Matrix (stock), PSU Corsair HX1000i. On photo: temp of CPU with Noctua NH-D15 + NF-F12 PPC 3000 PWM at the time of writing - I can't hear CPU fan, more loud are my other 3 case fan (Corsair). And I never crossed 66 degree (Celsius) in max load and never spin more then 2300. Can be loud, but not really for me. If you have clean and tidy system then everything is ok, no more loud then other fan. And if you sometimes need more performance then you can easy wake up beast. But this is what you should expect from fan like this. Ps. I use fan for 8 months

As quiet as a 3000rpm fan is ever going to be.
So the reviews in this seem all over the place. So here's my take! I bought this to replace a very loud stock 120mm fan on a Dell PowerEdge T320 Server. The stock fan was idling at 2760RPM at 38% utilisation. Therefore a maximum fan speed of 6000RPM. This idle speed had my CPU measuring at 26C and my drives at 24C while the inlet temp was 21C... The stock fan did a good job but was way too loud because it was running so fast. I purchased this as my thinking was Noctua know what they're doing with fans, they're known for relatively quiet fans. So replacing a 6000RPM fan with a 3000RPM fan means it'll essentially idle at half speed. Sure enough it's idling at around 1350RPM and is quiet as a mouse. For the first time I can actually hear the drives doing something and can be in the same room as it. Even when driven hard I can only just hear the rear fan. I couldn't be more happy with this fan.

Don't expect a miracle
I have an AMD FX 8350 CPU within a NZXT H230 case, the case itself has only one intake fan and one exhaust fan fitted. I did have a Cooler Master CPU water cooler but the pump failed after just 12 months, this put me off water coolers and I started searching for a decent air cooler since my faith in water cooling had taken a hit. Since my heatsink clearance is only 158mm it somewhat limited my options. I finally came across the Cryorig H7, reviewed better than the popular 212 Evo I went ahead and purchased. My temps were manageable but I wanted lower, thats when I saw this beastly fan with its 100+ CFM rating. I took the Cryorig fan off the heatsink and placed it at the bottom of my case as another intake. Meanwhile the NF-F12 went on the heatsink. As a bit of a novice I was really expecting a noticeable difference, what with the addition of another intake and a much more powerful fan on the heatsink itself. Truth be told, there is barely a difference in temperature, I'm maybe 2 degress better off. Moving on to the noise now, it gets pretty loud but that should be obvious. Below 1600 RPM it is very quiet but after 1600 RPM the sound changes to another pitch, at 2000 RPM its now very noticeable, the sound levels continue to rise until the RPMs max out (2885) on my fan. Due to the potential noise I highly reccomend using fan control software. I use SpeedFan which I've set to open automatically when Windows starts, I've manually tuned it so it remains at under 50% RPM until the CPU temps reaches 55 degrees, this means normal everyday use the fan is nice and quiet and only cranks up when playing games, 4K video etc. Maybe I overrated what this fan was capable of, the FX 8350 is one of the hottest chips around and so it probably needs much more cooling than I'm willing to give it. Maybe a very good water cooler with 2 of these Noctua's attached would work a treat. Overall though, build quality is good, 6 year warranty, pushes alot of air, the 4 pin cable seems strong and is very long, price isn't that bad considering the specs of it. Just a shame it didn't work as I expected in my set up. Can't blame the fan for that though so 4 stars from me.

support is great and the product is very nicely presented and packaged
Highest quality fan as expected from Noctua (and at last a sensible colour). Worth the price, support is great and the product is very nicely presented and packaged. As other reviews stated, bear in mind is this high-RPM model is LOUD in comparison to your average computer fan, as it has to be for it's excellent performance, the airflow is quite something. You definitely don't want it sat next to you on your desktop all day long though, for regular use the 2000RPM model is more than enough. This 3000RPM model is much more suited for servers and NAS builds that are tucked away somewhere the noise won't bother anyone. Even using the PWM function on my motherboard, the fan appears to need a minimum ~40% to spin up so I can only slow it down to about 1200RPM before it stops spinning. However, if you want high performance and durability and don't mind the noise, this will not disappoint.

Keine Ahnung. Meine anderen, normalen Noctua Lüfter laufen bisher ohne jede Probleme seit Jahren.

Literally the best fan I've ever purchased!
I have built a custom desk that fits my HP Z800 workstation and MSI gaming rig. I decided to have each side of the desk be an intake for each computer. With 4 fans on each side being powered by each PCs PSU. The Z800 with how many fans that thing has on its own it probably doesn't even need that many but lemme tell you a few things. This desk is 79.75" long. And 26" wide. That's alot of area that needs some form of airflow through it. Now on the left side is all 4 noctua indistrial 3000rpm 12v fans. The right side has 6 corsair HD120s (3 for the rad and 3 for the intake) and one noctia industrial as well. Now the corsair are some decent fans. Quiet and move a decent amount of air. I'm not very good at math but they do a pretty good job for how expensive they are. Now I heard noctua makes great fans. Alot of youtubers use them, some friends of mine use them, and it seems anyone who's anyone uses them. When I was doing testing on the computers I was EXTREMELY impressed that the noctua industrial I've purchased actuslly can move air more then 3/4ths the length of the desk. It blows the corsairs out of the water. My fan controllers are their own devices that run off the sata power cable. They weren't cheap at $67 a pop but their great quality, what I'm getting at is as the fan controller starts up their LOUD BUT once the proper RPM kicks in you can't even hear it. 3000rpm is alot and at 1200 even 1500 I legitimately dont even notice it. The corsair fans yeah I can hear them but these fans are excellent all around on efficiency. For pretty much making a blind choice of fans to buy I made a great choice. Their build quality is impressive too. They are also quite responsive too when it comes to an rpm spike or going from an idle speed to max it kicks up to where it needs to be very quickly. I honestly think any build i do from now on will use these fans now that I've actually seen the light of how great these are. Now if they coild make a delta style fan where it's got dual props on it that's as insanely powerful as those id buy them in a heart beat over deltas server fans as the noise reduction would likely be amazing.

The same great quality you expect from Noctua...
After having read positive reviews on Noctua's fans I decided to replace one of the stock fans on my AIO Corsair H75 with the NF-F12 PPC-3000. The order was placed on the 22nd and despite having selected standard shipping, the item arrived a few days early. What can I say about Noctua that hasn't already been said before by others. The quality is evident in the weight and the materials employed. At no point while handling the fan does the word "cheap" come to mind. I have to say that it is noisy but I knew this when I ordered it. Since my computer is dedicated to very CPU intensive tasks, I wanted maximum airflow through the cooler's radiator. This fan does not disappoint. It moves a lot of air. At full power it sounds like a very small jet idling on the tarmac. This doesn't bother me as it only runs at full power when I need it to. At other times it runs at a medium setting and the sound is fine. If you want a quieter fan though then I would suggest the 2000rpm model. At maximum power settings it has managed to decrease my CPU temps by about 5 degrees at idle and peak by about 9 degrees. I am pleased that Noctua has decided to introduce a black version, as I think some of the more aesthetically sensitive are turned off by the standard Tan/Brown version. Hats off to Noctua with a great product. I will be replacing the fans on some of my older computers with offerings from Noctua from now on.
