Can you write on them with pencil? How about ball point pen?

Pencil and ballpoint pen writing is not very good

Are they removable like post it adhesive?

We loved these, but found that they did leave a slight residue, and when running documents through our copier/scanner using the auto document feeder after using the labels, some of the adhesive would transfer to the optical strip and leave a vertical line on scanned or copied documents. Took us a long time to figure out what was doing it.
