These headphones are terrific value. Their solid build means they are going to last – AKG bent the cable 80,000 times during production just to test longevity. The generous padding is nice and comfy, while the 3m cable provides enough play for listening comfortably at home. This is a classic studio headphone design, and while you could just about get away with wearing these out on the street, the long cable demonstrates that they're not made specifically for that purpose. The sound is pleasingly expansive, with a breadth and scale rarely found in the kind of headphones you'd normally see on the high street at this sort of price. They certainly come across as smooth, not to mention the controlled bass. The midrange isn't quite as clean as you would like, but for the money, these are amongst the best over-ear headphones if affordability is a factor.

TL/DR Good for the price, need to be EQ'd & if you aren't on a budget I'd look elsewhere. I've been using these headphones for music production, music listening and a bit of "competitive gaming". Initial impressions were poor and I definitely recommend you EQ these headphones to either your own preference or if you want them to be completely flat for those of you who like to mix and master music, as these have neither a good flat frequency response curve nor a good out of box sound profile. The headphones have a nice long cable (Read paragraph 3) & they feel a bit cheap but not fragile. Once these headphones are EQ'd they sound above and beyond for the price, for music production and mixing they have pretty good overall clarity & for gaming they are quite the treat to use too owing to the fact that the left & right "stereo" sound is very very nicely defined and can sometimes give you a bit of an advantage. There is a small but noticeable at times amount of cable noise (noise that reverberates through the cable into the ear cups themselves), for it to be noticeable though you have to be quite rough with the cable or be fidgeting with it. For those on a low budget they are a bit above acceptable I'd say, but if you have a bit of a bigger budget behind you I'd definitely look elsewhere.

These AKG's are very good. They are comfortable to use over long periods. The sound is neutral. They don't excel in any one area. The bass, mid range and top end all come through cleanly, revealing the production of the music. If a track is bright, then that's what you'll hear. If is bass heavy, likewise. You get ample cable, over 2 metres. The connection is a 6mm plug so you'll need an adaptor to plug into most hi-fi. The fit is adjustable, so easy to get a good fit. AKG make good headphones and these live up their reputation. I recommend them.

Very light and comfortable, and sounds great. Very long cable. If you just plug these into your sound source you will be disappointed, as these have (relatively) flat response curve. You need to EQ the sound to your liking to get the best out of these. For the price, cant really beat these.

The AKG K72 aren’t the kind of headphones you buy if your main goal is to enjoy music or get an exciting listening experience. They’re not really designed for that. Instead, they’re aimed at providing a reasonably accurate and functional representation of sound, and in that respect, they do a decent job for the price. The treble and bass are slightly emphasised, but overall they remain neutral enough to give a fairly honest picture of audio. They don’t sound particularly impressive or engaging, but that isn’t really the point of them. Their purpose is to let you hear audio as it is, rather than to enhance or flatter it. In my case, I use them for live radio work, where accuracy and the ability to hear issues clearly matters more than enjoyment. For that kind of application, they are perfectly serviceable. They are also very comfortable, with a light fit and low clamp force, making them easy to wear for several hours at a time without fatigue. For me personally, these are a stopgap solution while I work within a limited budget and plan to upgrade in the future. However, if someone is looking for a very budget-friendly and relatively neutral monitoring headphone, the K72 are a reasonable entry-level option—as long as expectations are kept realistic.

My digital piano is situated in the living room so I needed a pair of suitable headphones for practicing without disturbing other family members and vice versa. Good points: - these are very light and comfortable even after a couple of hours of practice time. - sound quality is very good for music. - I have read reviews complaining of sound leakage but I have not experienced that all. Note these are not noise cancelling so look elsewhere if that is important to you. Bad Points (minor): - the cord length is very long which may be a benefit or nuisance depending on your requirement - cord itself is fixed to the headphones so cannot be removed/replaced. - combination of the above is also a faff when tidying away (No Cable wrap/tidy included) - no storage case - the 6.2mm headphone jack converter is a screw type. This is secure but not helpful if you want to use it with another set of headphones. Overall: The bad points noted above are probably a trade-off for the price of these headphones. Overall for £26 these are impressive headphones and happy with my purchase. Too early for feedback re durability.

I've been a long-time AKG fan, I've owned all sorts of headphones throughout the years but the K77's I bought about 10 years ago have exceeded my expectations for the price point that I've looked no further since. Unfortunately, one of the drivers stopped working eventually (or could be the cable, which can't be replaced). Immediately, I went to look for a newer AKG offer and the K120 seemed to be the best choice. Unfortunately, those cans sounded flat and blocked none of the ambient sound. Fortunately, these K72s were the other "Amazon's choice" and I absolutely love them. Supremely lightweight and comfortable, for a guy with large ears I can wear them on extended basis with no issues at all, very large cup. And the stretchable band has been improved significantly. Long cable for comfortable movement. The sound profile on these is fantastic. It is not the flat reference sound of the K120, these have a punch on both the bass and highs and respond excellently to EQ adjustments. They can be used for enjoying music just as much as producing it. Also the low resistance means I can turn the volume down to 25-30% on my PC and it would get as loud as standard reference cans at 80%. Build quality looks solid, despite it being all plastic. They're very flexible (and of course as mentioned comfortable). If you didn't know, one might assume they're worth $500 based on the sleek design. Absolutely love these, you can't go wrong, and here's to another 10 years.

Can’t beat the price and reliability of these. The design is made with inexpensive materials but is very sturdy. The ear cuffs fit super well over ears, even bigger ears, and the headphones are so light that I never experience ear pain or any discomfort even after 4+hours of wearing these. The sound quality is great and I’ve mixed and mastered on these quite a bit.
