I live in a very very hot summer area. Triple digits sometimes last for weeks and my potted plants outside suffer. I started adding these coco coir bricks over the top of the potting soil and it has made watering every second and sometimes third day possible instead of everyday. My plants love these bricks and so do I.

I have no other brand to compare it to, but this seems to do what it is expected to. My only complaint is the instructions... it says 4-6 quarts to rehydrate. 4 quarts is 1 gallon. I would expect to add 4 quarts and wait 30 minutes, then add more as needed. But nope - 4 qts is way too much water. For the next brick, I'll try half the amount and add from there after 30 minutes of soaking. Another tip- use a shallow wide container rather than a narrow deep one - easier to break apart and the bricks don't need to submerge (they float anyhow) they only need to be in contact with the water.

Don’t be deceived when you open the box and see 6 bricks all different sizes. If you put them on a scale, the total weight will likely be above the description weight of this item. Other review showed and complained about the coconut fiber being too fine and making mud. TOO much water added to any substrate, will give you muddy results. Add your water slowly, more as needed, and you will end up with a perfect natural and nice spongy mix. I’d definitely buy from this vendor again.

I ordered the 12-brick package of coco coir and unfortunately my box only arrived with 11 bricks. The bricks themselves were just thrown loosely into the shipping box and the wrapper/label that was supposed to hold them together was tossed in separately, so the packaging definitely didn’t feel very secure or organized. I’m currently in the middle of building my garden beds and needed the materials right away, so I contacted Amazon hoping they could simply send the missing brick instead of having me return the entire package. Unfortunately, that wasn’t an option and the only solution offered was to return the whole order. Since I’m actively working on my garden right now and trying to finish by the 1st, returning everything and waiting for a replacement just wasn’t practical. That said, the product itself is excellent. The coco coir bricks expanded beautifully, hydrated evenly, and the quality is honestly fantastic. I had zero issues with the coir itself and would absolutely use this product again. My dissatisfaction is strictly with the packaging and the lack of a simple solution for a missing item. If the packaging and fulfillment process were improved, this would easily be a 5-star product.

I’ve been using Coco Coir for two years now and I have grown to love it; I use it for cuttings and seeds. At first, I didn’t like the results. I didn’t realize that it has little to no nutrients and minerals. Once I learned that I started trying out different additives to the coco coir to give it a little fertilizer. I didn’t want to use harsh chemical fertilizers; I wanted to use something gentler. Here’s where the worm castings come in. By mixing the worm castings in it gave it just the right kick that seedlings and cuttings need. My success rate doubled, if not more. I also mix some perlite and vermiculite in to give it drainage and to loosen it up. For me, this process and mixture work best. I hydrate 3 bricks at a time. I stand them up vertically in a 5-gallon bucket. Add 2 quarts of water and let it sit overnight. The next day I flip the bricks (sometimes they come apart, so I try to make the top of them even) and add 3 quarts more water and let that sit overnight too. For me, that usually does the trick. I then break it up. I add 1.75 quarts of perlite, 1.75 quarts of vermiculite, and the same amount of worm castings. Once seedlings take hold, about 2 to 3 weeks after sprouting I’ll add water soluble fertilizer. Same for the cuttings. I don’t give them much to start out with and increase it over time as you would any normal plant. This is what works for me, you may find a different process that works just as well.
