Highly recommend if you have issues with your hands/joints/muscles
Years ago, I bought a similar model to this but it was big and clunky. This one, however, feels like it has a regular controller profile. It feels very similar to my Switch Pro Controller, but just for my New 2DS XL. I was confused at first because it said it's a 3-piece set (clear top guard, ergonomic grip, and stylus), and I assumed the stylus would be similar to the OEM from Nintendo but thought it had fallen out of my box or just didn't ship - I'm glad I looked around because it's stealthily hidden in the left hand grip! LOVE that design, so that the stylus always stays with the grip! I do think that the plastic lip on the stylus is machined a little big and makes it really hard to pull out of the grip, but that would be my only fault for the product. It fits my hands well and makes it comfortable, it allows for access to the game card slot (older models did not), and it comes with a protective top shell AND a built-in stylus. I love it and highly recommend this product for the New 2DS XL.

I love this grip
I love this grip. I never got the first iteration of it because I recently got the 2ds Xl. I mainly got this version because I have all physical games, and I can't see taking off the grip Everytime to switch a game. This is open all through the bottom so that's not a problem. I also do love the angles of the handles. I have somewhat big hands, and it really does feel like a comfortable controller and really helps when playing games like Mario Kart, and also games like the Tony Hawk Series. Strangely enough I seem to take it off when playing side scrolls like Rayman, New Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong etc. Before using it, just from looking at pictures, I thought the kickstand was kind of gimmicky, assuming no one is going to be watching Netflix on this. I have found use out of it the first day when playing Bloons Tower Defense on break at work. I was able to set it up with the kickstand and easily use the touchscreen while seeing everything, as opposed to it being flat on the table with no viewing angle. Also, for some reason they sent me a back clear cover instead of the front one advertised. Doesn't make much sense since the grip covers the back, but I have a front and back cover from a different purchase. So it wasn't a big deal to me personally. The stylus is also really hard to pull out. I have short fingernails so I had a tough time, but it's basically the same exact stylus that comes with the 2ds. It's the same small size, so if you have the original stylus it shouldn't be a big deal since the bottom is open and the regular one is always accessible. I don't want to take a star away for the tough stylus because if you have the original there is no need for it. I also don't want to take a star away for sending the back cover instead of the front because I think that might have just been a shipping mistake, not a faulty product. Ive only had it for 2 days as of this review, so I can't speak on the clips that hold it together. Some people say the clips snap off real easily. I have been real careful with it (as I am with all my electronics) so I haven't had any problems with those. Time will tell. If at any point they do snap I will update this review to see how long it lasted. For the price, I would definitely pick this up if you get hand cramps or seem to re adjust your hands a lot when playing the DS. It's definitely worth it.

Stays attached if held upside down!
Pros 👍 System Component Access, this product prioritizes access to all system components (aside from speakers) which has proven very useful. Notably the volume control, power button, game card slot, stylus holder, audio jack, ac adapter connector, outer cameras and even gives clear access to L, R, ZL, ZR buttons respectively. Hand Grip, this part really is more so a personal opinion but for someone with somewhat large hands I can say that I am very happy with the comfort of this product and it undoubtedly changed my gaming experience in a positive way. The grip really does add an extra level of comfort which is nice. Kickstand, I think this is a great feature. Before buying this I was actually looking for a dock instead to charge my New Nintendo 2DS XL-Poké Ball Edition but I also wanted a comfort grip during gaming. This product was able to supply both because I can rest my 2DS XL with the system closed and charge it simultaneously. Clear Case, it's a nice convenient addition. It really does offer some protection to my 2DS XL, it's also convenient that it is clear because I can also show off my Poké Ball Edition too. Stylus, this product does come with an extra stylus inside, under on the bottom of the left grip. Another nice and convenient addition, I like the placement under on the bottom of the left grip while keeping in mind that the other stylus holder is closer to the right side and that makes it ambidextrous which is a great touch. Cons 👎 Product Functionality, although it did hold up to the upside down test, I still did not feel convinced or secure. I did feel my 2DS XL could possibly detach or slide off in this position while naturally gripping the product and using as intended (e.g. laying down while gaming). Keep in mind, this is only when holding the product upside down. Otherwise the product sits inside the product almost adequately. There is some small spacing that prevented it from fitting securely and firmly as you can see in the photos. I prefer if it fitted my system in a snug and secure form. Product Aesthetics, as you can see from some of the photos I provided, the design of the product continues over the outer cameras (while still retaining their functionality). Personally, I think this is unnecessary but it's proven that it provides a better grip then why not but if not, is it really necessary? Additionally, I do not prefer the contrast of colors here on the plastic pieces but this is still my personal opinion after all. Lastly, I would include if possible some thin rubber padding to protect the system being used as well. Suggestions💡 These are a shot for the stars but these features would be an outstanding addition. If it came in colors options to compliment and match the systems that have special edition color schemes like myself. If it could somehow hold one or two game cartridges. Overall, I am happy with the product. I think that the product deserves 4 out of 5 stars. Yes, it doesn't completely function as intended, but it is clear that the manufacturer is concerned about the feedback and opinion of it's customers and is actively putting effort into making a better product. So that deserves a lot. In practice, it functions - I would be happy to rate it 5 stars once improvements are made.

Great for big hands, and the tripod is a plus.
I got bigger but my N2DSXL did not. This adds just enough mass to be comfy in my large hands, but is still small enough to fit in my pocket. The tripod is a nice feature when playing at a table, as you can put the device down for a minute and still see the screen. The grip's stylus slot is very tight and difficult to get a stylus into or out of, but on the plus side it's also hard to lose. The original ports are all accessible so you can just use the regular stylus slot if you prefer. I was worried this would look weird on my orange-and-white 2DS, but it actually looks pretty cool, and the clear top case means I can still see the stickers I put on it.

A Necessity
I've owned grips for the New 3DS XL and PS Vita, but this one is the best by far! It's comfortable, and makes every game easier to play. I have fairly large hands, so playing the New 2DS XL without a grip would make my hands cramp after 30 minutes or so. With the grip, I no longer have that problem. I’ve played games using the grip for hours, and it feels natural and comfortable. Very sturdy plastic. I was initially concerned that the small plastic tabs holding the 2DS would break if I took my 2DS out too often, but there was no need to worry. If you have that same concern, don’t worry: As long as you’re careful, the gaming system slides in and out just fine, and I only take it out to go on walks for play coins or streetpass hunts. I like the clear front cover that it comes with. It protects from scratches and gives the system extra shock damage in case I drop it (but I haven’t dropped it yet thank goodness). The only downside is that I can't get the extra stylus out without breaking a nail, but as I still have my stylus that the 2DS came with, this isn't a huge issue. Lastly, I own an orange/white 2DS and this fits perfectly. I'd recommend this grip to anyone looking for a much easier way to play their New 2DS XL.

Great idea but not a perfect fit...
We ordered 2 of these hand grips for our boys to go with their New Nintendo 2 DS XL. One hand grip fits the DS perfectly and keeps the gaming system securely in place but the other one is too loose and the DS will actually fall out if you aren't careful. Hopefully I can get a replacement for the one that doesn't fit because the hand grip is pretty awesome. They definitely help my kids to hold the gaming system and have more control while playing. Before getting the DS for Christmas, my kids had only played Xbox One so these hand grips are definitely a good investment. I really appreciate the fact that you don't have to remove the DS to change games, access the stylus or charge the battery. I don't want my kids to have a reason to remove the DS from the hand grip because that just increases the chance of something bad happening. The hand grip also comes with a stylus but it can be a little challenging to get out so I just prefer my kids not know about it and continue using the DS stylus. Overall, I feel like these hand grips help my kids play but I don't think it offers much protection from falls or other damage. The clear case on the front really doesn't have much added benefit other than keeping it clean. I'm hoping the fit of the one hand grip was a fluke and not something I run into again. I will definitely update my review once I'm able to get another one that keeps the gaming system securely in place.

Pulled my 2DS through an electronics-destroying drop.
Comfortable to hold for extended play, and access to the cart doesn't compromise the grip at all. Pretty easy to remove, but with full access to all the ports, there's really no need unless you are trying to fit in a case. Dropped the 2DSXL while it was mounted. Despite devastating spin, the system was fully intact and functional. The only damage to the grip was to the mounting clips. No damage to the system at all. Grip still works ok, even with two of the clips broken off, just a little loose and a bit of popping out if I really give it a flex. Ordering a new one because it was so good.

Best current 2DS XL grip as of this review!
I just got this and still using it for a couple of days. As of now, I have no major issues with it. It is sturdy, but since there have been a few reports that the tabs securing the handheld breaks easily, it has yet to happen on mine - but considering I haven't taken the thing off since I placed it on my 2DS XL, only time will tell. I haven't yet done a drop test or stress test on the product, but so far, the design is "sturdy". The best thing about this grip is the fact I don't have to keep removing it to access the game cartridge and the memory card. The only possible negative is that it makes the 2DS a bit clunkier - but that is something one must live for having a grip in the first place. I can still place the unit (with the handgrip attached) in my sling bag for those day trips, so the unit is still portable despite having a bigger profile. The stylus that came with the grip is a bit hard to remove, but it's a non-issue on my part. I rarely use the stylus - but that's because I also bought an after-market retractible (telescoping) stylus for the 2DS to replace the VERY short stylus that came with the original unit. I will update this review within 30 days if there is any change as I will be carrying the both the unit and the grip with me on trips out of town. I also bought a protection plan with this grip for those "just in case" things. UPDATE (June 21, 2018): Okay, so I missed the 30 day mark... the new grip holds up even after more than 30 days of on-and-off gaming. No problems with it whatsoever, no tab breakage, etc. However, I would like to point out that I've actually been taking care of the handheld as well as the grip despite "heavy" use. That said; as long as you take care of your stuff and not abuse it to intentionally cause catastrophic failure - IT WILL HOLD the 2DS XL like a glove if you don't constantly remove the grip and put it back. Basically, there's no need to remove the 2nd generation grip to access the necessary compartments like you had to with the 1st generation grip that completely blocks the cartridge door. As for talking about the 1st gen grip, I can guarantee that the 1st generation grip from Fyoung that I also own didn't last more than a month because I had to keep removing the thing to switch game cartridges - the tabs do get stressed easily due to the pressure of removing and reinserting the handheld. This new design of theirs solved that issue, once you put it on there's no need to remove it. You just have to live with the slightly bigger profile with it on.

Great Upgrade for 2dsXL
These grips enhances the comfort of playing the 2dsXl tremendously, especially for platforming games. It easily fits with the console no problems and everything is accessible. There is very little assembly required and it comes with an extra stylus as a bonus. Most importantly it stopped that discomfort and fatigue that I was having, even when I was playing in a shorter amount of time. Highly recomended!
