AKG Y50BTBLK Portable Foldable On-Ear Rechargeable Bluetooth Headphones - Black

The AKG Y50 comes with a very high expectation, so naturally they were destined to disappoint, and yes I was expecting an audio revelation. More than one expert review said these are comparable to headphones at twice the price, so when tested at £80 by reviewers, these should sound like £81-160 headphones (though I got them for less). So, I shortlisted Sennheiser, Beats, Philips, and Audio Technica, but reviews kept steering me to AKG. At the budget end, What Hifi best buy headphones under £50 were also looking good, the Panasonic RPHTX7. While I prefer the WW2 radio operator style of the Panasonic, the black AKG Y50 looked like it belonged to an assassin. And every material on this is soft to touch (black version). Even the cable is soft, let alone the ear pads which are sublime; the matt finish on all surfaces makes them look like stealth headphones. So, I borrowed my daughter's Panasonic RPHTX7 to do a sound comparison (£40 headphones versus £80), and swapped between those and my new Y50s while listening to Mussorgsky 'Night on Bare Mountain' on vinyl. The Panasonic sounded great, loud, and boomy, very clear, difficult to beat, and sometimes available at £22, amazing value. But then the AKG showed me something quite different, very comfortable, the sound was less harsh, less muddled, and very very good. Neutral, inoffensive, tight bass, well controlled throughout. It almost steers you through individual notes with ease, it tames recordings. So this is what £80-160 headphones should sound like, I thought. Smooth, and comfy. Are you looking for boomy harsh sound, then AKG will disappoint you, but reproducing music and vocals, AKG hits the sweet spot. Only one query, they're quiet, and so the volume needs to be turned up to actually hear the detail in the music, just remember to turn it down when you unplug the headphones! Compared to reviews for other quality cans, £80 Grados are unbeatable for sound, but less comfortable. £120 Sennheiser Monitors are simply gorgeous, but in a different price bracket (these were my first choice). Audio Technicas are apparently bass heavy (but respect the heritage and make great styli), and lastly Beats, which are the most trendy, but pricey and bass heavy (apparently). So for £80, the AKGs seem to do everything, batsman, bowler and fielder; sensible, practical, no weaknesses, well behaved, a little radical in appearance (if you opt for non-black), easy to live with, a labrador with a spiky collar? 5 stars.

There is an interesting story about how I got this incredible headphones. I used for almost 3 years the Beats Solo 2 but they stopped working from one side. I went to Apple in order to request a repair, expecting that this was something easy to fix. For my surprise they wanted to charge me almost £100 for the repair. I rejected, of course. So after this bad surprise I just started to look around for new headphones. I did hear about AKG before and then I saw all the reviews here. I must say that my previous Beats stopped working just in good time. This headphones are just SUPERB! The sound quality is much more superior compared with the Beats Solo 2 and they are much cheaper. The sound is incredibly clean, the bass is perfect, it is very comfortable to use and really good looking as well. I'm really happy with my purchase. The Bluetooth works really well and the battery life so far looks impressive. I'm using the headphones for 3 days already and it wasn't necessary to charge yet. And I've been using this a lot. You don't go wrong with this purchase. This is fantastic, believe me. I got the grey ones and they look awesome!

Pros: These have been my first pair of wireless headphones and they are really simple to use. I've had no problems with connecting them to devices and I like the fact that they can also be plugged in if I want to save battery. The battery life is excellent; I didn't even charge them when they arrived and they still lasted well over a week, with an average weekly usage of around 10 hours. The sound quality is great, nice and clear and more bass-heavy than my previous headphones (Monster DNA On-Ear Headphones). Sound leakage seems to be low; I'm fairly comfortable using them on the train, although I do still restrain myself a little with regards to the volume. In terms of noise cancellation, these do a fairly decent job. Definitely better than my previous headphones; however, if you're really looking to block out all sounds these may not be for you. Cons: The left ear cup detached after less than 3 weeks. I've seen a couple of other reviews stating the same thing, so I don't know if there is just a flaw with the swivel design. I took great care of them, so I was obviously disappointed. I thought about getting different ones; however, it had taken me a long time to pick a pair in the first place and I was pretty happy with them in every other way so I decided to just get a replacement. This was straightforward as I was still within the returns period. I've had them for a couple of weeks so far and I'm trying to leave them unfolded as much as possible, in the hope that it may help to prevent them breaking again. I would also say that I have quite a small head and these only just fit - when I have the adjustable band on the highest setting they still sit a little lower on my ears than I would ideally like. However, this isn't a problem in terms of them staying on my ears or in terms of sound and I soon got used to it. Finally, they aren't the most comfortable headphones I've had. I'm definitely getting more used to them as time goes on, but in the beginning my ears would start to feel sore after only around half an hour. Overall, I would recommend these headphones as they offer great sound at a very reasonable price. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that my second pair are more durable than my first!

Auriculares muy bien construidos y con bastantes partes metálicas, bastante cómodos en relación a otros del mismo tipo. Además los auriculares se pliegan completamente hacia la diadema, lo que hace que ocupen poco espacio cuando se transportan (vienen con un bolsa de neopreno para transportarlos). Posibilidad de utilizarlos en modo pasivo con cable cuando se quedan sin bateria (el cable viene suministrado con el producto) y la autonomía de la batería es la que se promete (unas 20 h). Son fáciles de conectar con cualquier dispositivo vía bluetooth En cuanto al sonido, con bluetooth no presenta cortes molestos. Aíslan bastante del exterior aunque no destacan por esto respecto a otros productos que realizan mejor este cometido a cambio de ser mucho más aparatosos, ir mucho más cerrados (aunque estos cubren todo el pabellón auditivo) resultar más incómodos y calurosos. Por lo que se refiere al sonido propiamente dicho, mi percepción es que se trata de unos auriculares que ofrecen un sonido muy natural, muy equilibrado, no presentan ni agudos estridentes ni graves exagerados, que es lo que yo buscaba, ya que los utilizo para oír jazz, vocal y clásica, donde el exceso de graves tan de moda en muchos productos de este tipo, resulta más bien contraproducente ya que impide apreciar ciertos matices de la música y reduce la escena sonora. La calidad del sonido está a la altura de otros productos mucho más caros y no siempre tan bien acabados como este.

Dopo averle usate per quasi un mese, posso dire che sono delle ottime cuffie. Hanno un ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo, e sono molto soddisfatto di averle acquistate. QUALITÀ COSTRUTTIVA L'asta superiore è in acciaio, così è garantito che non si spezzi. Sull'asta sono segnate delle tacche numerate, così ci si sta un attimo ad allungarle al punto giusto. La copertura dei padiglioni è in alluminio verniciato in modo che si intraveda un po' di metallo, il risultato è che sono belli da vedere e non pesano. La spugna dei padiglioni è "compatta" e morbida al punto giusto. Il cavo (rimovibile) sembra un po' sottile, ma è comunque abbastanza resistente; ad ogni modo le connessioni sono sufficientemente rinforzate da non danneggiare il cavo in caso lo si tirasse accidentalmente, AUDIO Premettendo che non me ne intendo moltissimo, devo ammettere che i bassi si sentono abbastanza, ma non sono mai eccessivi. Nel complesso mi sembrano ben bilanciate. Isolano bene, ma non totalmente, dai rumori esterni. A me va bene così. Le ho provate anche in treno, la qualità sonora resta ottima e non è necessario alzare troppo il volume. COMFORT I primissimi giorni mi davano un po' fastidio, ma poi mi sono abituato e a volte quasi non faccio più caso di averle addosso. Certo, se le si usano per ore consecutivamente stringono un po'... Ma basta riposizionarle o toglierle per qualche minuto.

Casque AKG qui est cité sur tous les sites spécialisés comme une bête de course dans sa catégorie. Je l'utilise dans les transports et franchement c'est assez isolant et confortable. Facile à transporter car il est pliable et livré avec sa housse. Pour plus de durabilité on trouve facilement les mousses et câbles de remplacement. Un bon investissement et beaucoup de plaisir à son écoute. Bonne dynamique et bon équilibre pour tout type de musique (je n'ai pas testé le classique, sinon j'écoute de tout.

Très bon produit pour plusieurs utilisations : films, jeux vidéos, musique, etc. Le son est de très bonne qualité et le casque est très confortable et s'adapte bien. Je recommande ce produit !!!
