This Modern Love: Darbyshire Will

Like other users my book did come with scuffed white corners so if this bothers you I would order somewhere else. However, don't let this put you off the actual book because I would imagine this is an issue with amazon not the publisher and it has absolutely no affect on the ability to enjoy the book. It just looks vintage as the book is so thick and heavy which I like. As for the book it's a really beautiful and unique collection that was both moving and uplifting at the same time. I had no idea this guy was a youtuber, do not let the stigma of this put you off buying. A wonderful read!

I didn't expect this book to be as powerful as it is, i would never buy a youtuber book, but this book is really something else it captivated me and my fascination with love, this book allowed me to experience so many different emotions-i cried at some of these entries and i laughed. This book is incredibly powerful and i would recommend it to anyone; we can all relate to love.. which is what makes this book s oaccessiable yet unique, it antithesises itself in such a lovely way, i am obsessed with this book and i would give it an infinite amount of stars if i could

Before accidentally coming across this book, I hadn't heard of Will Darbyshire. When I saw this book, and the explanation for how it came into being, I was instantly intrigued. After suffering his first break-up, rather than turning to his friends and family, Darbyshire took to the internet (isn't that a testament to these modern times?!) to express his heartache. He began to realise that his words were reaching hundreds, if not thousands of people, and he started to receive emails from others who also wanted to express their pain. As the starting point for this book, he then posed 6 questions on-line to his followers: 1. What would you say to your ex, without judgement? 2. Write a thank you note to your partner - describe or share (in a photo) the big and little things that make you happy. 3. What single word sums up your love life, your partner, or someone you like? 4. What single image sums up your love life, your partner, or someone you like? 5. What would you say to a crush? Write a letter to them to express it. 6. How has technology affected your relationship, either positively or negatively? Describe your experience. This book collects some of the responses that he received. With love affecting everyone in one way or another, the above questions mean that everyone would have at least one that they would easily be able to answer, if not more. And, in a sense, it is difficult to put a rating to this piece of work, as this is really people exposing their hearts, desires, and losses right there on the page. How do you rate someone's pain, or joy? The reason I think this book 'works' though is that, especially if you have experienced a break-up, the letters in here can make you feel less alone. The break-up may not even need to be recent to still resonate. But, there is a reason why I only awarded 4 stars. Personally, I would have liked to have more input from Will. It is intriguing to know why these specific letters were chosen. Although he does give some insight - the book is structured by having an introduction, then a note on the process; following this, he divides the responses into 3 sections, beginning, middle and end. He introduces each section with a few words. For the middle section, he encourages those of us in relationships to think about our partners when reading the book; what are we most thankful for? And do we say it enough? For me, though, given the title of this book is "This Modern Love," I do feel that Will doesn't reflect enough on the last question he posed to his followers; how technology can affect our relationships, either positively or negatively. Overall, this is an interesting, honest, raw and often heart-warming or funny book about something which makes us human. I would definitely recommend it.

This book is very interesting to read with letters from real genuine people expressing their love

Pros: Hardback, lightweight Cons: None that I can think of This is a heartwarming book that really does make you feel mushy inside. I didn't know the author that well but saw the promotional video he did on his youtube channel and thought I'd buy it. I like the simple design and love that it's hardback so that it keeps its shape. The corners have kept neat and although I have not finished it yet, I​ am most of the way through and I am thoroughly enjoying it, I would definitely recommend this book!

I bought this book as a gift for a friend of mine. And she loved the content. She also let me have a sneak! It tackled the realistic way on how love is. Content wise I will give it 5 stars. Cons: The packaging of the book is quite weak and it reaps off quickly. Also, the colour of the outer covering fades on certain parts.

Such a lovely book, my favourite section being the 1st a true hopeless romantic, i loved the idea and the concept of reading thoughts people may have never told anyone, and that they never will. Most are beautifully written and is a book i will keep hold of for a long time to enjoy and read again and again

Es muy fácil de leer y mantiene tu atención, lo recomiendo

Habe es in einem Zug durchgelesen, oder besser gesagt durchlebt, ich liebe es! Das Buch liest sich fantastisch, voller Höhen und Tiefen, ich lachte herzhaft und weinte tief berührt. Ein muss für alle hoffnungslosen Romantiker aber auch für Normalos fabelhaft unterhaltsam. Es inspiriert, spendet Trost und schenkt Freude... "tender and beautiful", voll und ganz! Das Paket kam übrigens super schnell an und das Buch war in einwandfreiem Zustand. Die Aufmachung des Buchs ist ebenfalls nennenswert! Allein der Einband ist schon so schön an zufassen mit den eingestanzten Lettern, die Typografie einfach klasse mit kleinen feinen Details die das Auge erfreuen. Ein fabelhaft gelungenes Stück!

Un peu déçue par rapport à l'arrivée du produit : les coins sont fort abimés ... Sachant que c'est un livre relié, ça gâche un peu le livre en lui même.
