He absolutely loved it and spent a good while laughing his way through the pages. The book is written exactly like a classic Haynes manual, but instead of fixing cars it “explains” how to operate a pensioner – including things like early bedtimes, complaining about the weather, and the mysterious ability to fall asleep in front of the TV within minutes. It’s incredibly well done and anyone familiar with Haynes manuals will appreciate the jokes even more. My dad kept saying how accurate some of the sections were, which probably says a lot about how quickly he’s settled into retired life already. It’s a light-hearted, funny read and perfect as a retirement gift. Overall, a brilliant little book that gave everyone a good laugh. If you’ve got someone retiring (especially a dad who grew up with Haynes manuals), this is a guaranteed winner. Review: At last!
