Works well on the move
We use the TP-Link in our van and when staying in B&Bs etc. The TP-Link was simple to set up. I just put the SIM card in and it did the rest so set up time was under five minutes. It worked straight away and hooking up devices was straightforward. It works well in the van so passengers have watched videos and even downloaded and uploaded files while we have been on the move. Obviously it is only ever as good as the mobile network’s signal (EE in our case) but we have had very few dropouts and managed to work while we have been away. Charging doesn’t take long; we tend to leave it plugged into the usb anyway so it has not run out of battery on us. It is capable of running for hours though. Size-wise the TP-Link is fairly flat, slightly thicker than an iPhone, and easily fits in a pocket.

phenomenal piece of kit M7650
unbelievably good, needed for pairing with a 10" NixPlay Cloud photo-frame for remote mother-in-law photo displaying and remote control. Need it to run 24x7x365 and not overheat, with a data plan it can't overspend so automatically disabling is a must. Cousin might stay over so letting them use their tablet would be good. No broadband yet in their home so needing a solution in the meantime. Oh boy, every box ticked. Battery can be removed and it's cold when on the cable. The tpMiFi app is great and can set a hard upper limit and disables for the limit you set - device shows an option to disregard and carry on or disconnect - perfect. The range indoors is as good as a home wireless router - through 2 internal walls we're still getting 15Mbps. Outdoors for beaches or parks for a family etc it's outstanding. On the golf course we couldn't get far enough away in a quick test - over 150 metres away and still 15Mbps up and download. Odd really, of all the spec blurb, TP don't mention the range - light & bushel come to mind. Streaming video is flawless, mp3 are cached quickly. Battery life is great but having it removable will be perfect for running all the time - maybe put it on a timer and mobile stand. Display is clear and remembers values without power or the battery attached. Sending/Receiving texts might be useful in the future. Couldn't be happier - ordered but returned a Netgear one as I thankfully found out in time there was no data management option.

Very reliable and easy to use.
I've had this MiFi box for around 8 months now. And I have quite a lot of positive things to say about it. It's reliable, very portable (fits in my pocket easily, can put it anywhere in my bag) the connection is great, and the battery life will last me an entire day of constant usage. It also comes with an app, tpMiFi, that allows me to manage it. It's innovative, and gives me everything I need to manage it remotely so that I don't have to bring it out of my bag everytime I want to change a setting. If you have the money, and you need a reliable connection on the go, go with this device. It's worth the price.

terrible unreliable product, poor support
Bought this just over a month ago and initially it worked fine up until a week or so when the Wi-Fi connection to the actual TP Link itself became intermittent and dropping out all of the time. Contacted customer support as per the Amazon guidance and unfortunately there seem to be some misunderstanding of what the issue was, the person dealing with the issue seem to be thinking that the device was losing the Internet connection! I repeatedly told him/her that the problem was with the device not being able to maintain its Wi-Fi connection to either iPhone, iPad or laptop for any sustained period of time. Was given a few troubleshooting tips i.e. firmware update, replicating the APN from another device (TP Link Deco) so that it wouldn't lose the Internet connection, once again I told them it's not the Internet connection it's the Wi-Fi connection to the device, whoever is dealing with this on the other side of the phone/email seems to have a problem understanding the difference between Wi-Fi and mobile Internet connectivity, which isn't particularly helpful. I have since sent another email, a small video attached showing the Wi-Fi dropping off on my iPad continuously and have requested either a replacement or my money back. Two weeks into this now and still problem is unresolved, won't be buying again or recommending to anyone, too much time wasted. Bottom line: unreliable, virtually no consistent wifi connectivity, support seems to not know the difference between a wifi connection to the device and the device’s connection to the internet via a mobile network, either that or they can’t understand English.

A cheap phone could replace this
It’s a nifty gadget and gets text messages but it’s quite expensive for what it does imo. A cheap phone and a range extender could do the same if you keep it charged and enable hotspot

Very capable
I initially bought a Hawaei mobile hot spot for half the price of this item. It was a refurbished item and unfortunately the battery was faulty. Amazon returned with no troubles. I was so impressed by the device that I decided to spend more and purchase this one from TP. These are capable of providing several laptops with WiFi, each serving video calls, music streaming, and an Xbox for gaming, simultaneously and across the whole house. Only shame is that this item does not have ports to install addition antennas, and there is no ethernet port—this would be a truly exceptional product, but I suppose those functionalities are saved for other pricier models. Great product.

Works perfectly
We bought this to use on a sailing boat in Greece when our UK roaming data wasn’t enough for streaming etc. We bought a Greek Vodafone SIM card with unlimited data and use it for almost everything. We also brought it along with us when we hired a car and went touring so we’d have signal at Delphi. It always managed better signal than our phones with their UK SIMs. Just a great bit of kit. No idea why we didn’t buy this sooner!
