Surprisingly happy with product
I bought this item because in the room I play Kinect in it is almost impossible to play with two people. One can just about play but it misses off a little of the feet. I had read the numerous amount of mixed reviews for this product and I decided to go ahead and try it, without much hope and figured I would send it back if it didn't meet my requirements. Well I got the item, opened it, fit it which took about 30 seconds, literally just apply the kinect protector and clip this on whilst being careful that the protector doesn't come off. I have no idea how some people have said this has broken there Kinect.. I didn't even need to pick the Kinect up, I fit it whilst it was on the TV unit. Once switched on and loaded up the results were to be seen immediately. Whereas before the persons feet were missed if, it was telling me I needed to move closer! It now fits two people in to the screen and with space to spare. This has made my Kinect 10x more enjoyable and useable. I would simply say, don't expect miracles from this product, if your room is completely altogether to small to play Kinect then this probably won't be enough help. But if like me, you just needed a bit of extra space to get the desired results then this is definitely for you. On a footnote, the Kinect didn't really pick up my friends 4 year old very well before this, but now it seems to work with him perfectly.

Works well if you follow instruction
After reading so many conflicting reviews I bought this really unsure what to expect. My living room is quite large but having to move the furniture everytime the family want to play two player games, means that the kinect rarely gets used. A reducer lens in principal seems a great idea. The Zoom arrived about two weeks ago and since then I've had the chance to test it in varrying conditions. On the whole I have to say I'm genuinely very impressed. Installation: Setup was a doddle, just stick the included plastic protection on your kinect and then clip the Zoom over the top. Thats it. All i can assume is that the other folk saying it damaged their kinect were a bit hasty and either slid it on the from the side or didn't spot the protective sticker in the box. Logically it needs to stop any light getting down the side of the lens when its in place so its going to be a tight fit. When in place, initially it does look a little odd but this is more likely because of being used to seeing it without. After a few days you will hardly notice it. The colour match and gloss finish is almost perfect. Usage: We've used the Zoom with all our games and it works fine. It makes a major difference when 2 people are playing and works especially well when one player is a lot taller than the other. Something which was a bit annoying without the zoom if the game adjusted the tilt angle based on one of the other player. Both players can stand around 4 - 6 feet from the wall mounted kinect rather than the original 6-10. In natural day light it works great. In the evenings under artificial light its not as good. My living room has spot lights in the ceiling and the reflections and shadows are magnified by the lense meaning it doesn't track anywhere near as well (your shape gym games seems worst affected). I found dimming my lights down a little helps. I suspect if in had a standard light fitting with a higher ceiling this would be further improved. Conclusion: Excellent product for giving your kinect a new lease of life and it does work exactly as is described. You own room lighting is probably the biggest contributing factor to how well it will work for you. If you tend to play more during day light hours you will probably find this a very useful addition to your setup. If you are a night owl and have very directed lighting its probably not going to work that great.

Nyko Zoom for the xbox Kinect bar
It quickly became obvious that I was not able to access the full playing potential of the Xbox 360 Kinect for two reasons. My room is, only just, too small and I am 6' 6" tall. The result is that despite being forced back against the sofa front the Kinect bar was unable to fit my full height body into its Tracking Window. Due to this I decided to buy the Nyko Zoom Kinect accessory hoping the device would sort these issues out. The Nyko Zoom was delivered BNIB in less than two days from placing my order on Amazon and was competitively priced including very reasonable P&P. The Zoom was nicely packaged from which it was carefully removed. A guide is included explaining the correct way to attach the Zoom to the Kinect Bar and a recap for ideal conditions using the Kinect Tuner which really does need to be complied with. I took care applying the provided protective sticker to the Kinect Bar and then removed the protective electrostatic film from the Zoom surfaces. Although the Nyko Zoom is not an Official Microsoft Product the Quality of Build and Finish are to a Very High Standard and is a perfect cosmetic match for the Kinect Bar. Attaching the Zoom to the Kinect Bar is a simple operation as per the included instruction. It is important to closely line up the Zoom Lenses with the Kinect bar lenses before clipping in place. You may then need to reposition the Zoom with a very small sideways movement to allow the proper seating of the Zoom Lenses confirmed by a reassuring click. I then went through and successfully completed the Full Kinect Tuning process. To my delight I was able to stand a couple of feet closer to the Kinect Bar, my full body height, was within the Kinect Tracking Window with more room to spare. I have tested each of my Kinect Games with the Zoom fitted. So far I have not experienced any problems with any of the games or Kinect Recognition for the Xbox Live sign-on by using the Nyko Zoom. In conclusion, I have to say that the Nyko Zoom is a Great bit of Kit, with excellent Build Quality and Finish which really does what I had hoped it would.

Dissappointing
Due to having a slightly smaller living room we found space a little restricting when trying to play with the Kinect so when I saw this product I thought all our problems had been solved. Alas the product arrived a day later than expected but its the Christmas post so not complaining. The product is very easy to fit on to the kinect, and I would reccomend using the scratch protector that comes with it. Unfortunately when trying to configure the kinect with the Zoom Range Reduction, I noticed the screen that displays what the Kinect can see showed a fuz around the outside of the picture making for a small clear display in the middle of the screen, then I kept getting a message that my kinect could not detect the floor space but allowed me to continue setting up the Kinect to see me for tracking. We tried this on 3 games, Kinect Sports, was not really an issue until any jumping was involved, as was the same issue with King Fun Panda and Kinectimals. The unit does not recognise when I or my Daughter jumps (this is due to not finding the floor space during config) I tried my Kinect in 2 Positions. 1 Mounted on top of the TV via a mounted clamp and secondly mounted on the cabinet that the TV stands on (we use both positions prior to having Range reduction) but neither of these positions worked or made any difference. Unfortunately its a good idea but sadly does not appear to actually work. we have reverted back to using the Kinect on its own until maybe another product becomes available. I will be returning the product and I will be getting a full refund regardless as some reviews have been told they cant's get their money back. Well The product is not fit for use and does not work therefore you will be entitled to a refund if you have the same problems

Great product, easy to set up
I looked at loads of reviews on different sites for the Nyko Zoom Reduction Lens, and I am glad I chose to ignore and give this a go, it took 5 minutes to install and set up, I ensured I applied the protector cover, lined up sensor lens and green power indicator light with the Zoom Range Reduction Lens and with slight gentle adjustment easily fits into place, you can hear the zoom lens move into place on top of kinect sensor lens, and then its in place. It works in reducing playing sapce down, I was able to play between 3.5 ft and 4 ft away from sesnor/tv screen, and you can use for two players aswell, when setting up it will track and locate you in the "good" playing area, not "best" playing area, as the kinect is reading distance as normal, not zoomed distances, it is more than responsive enough, I'm really pleased with this item and have purchased some more as presents for family who also use kinect, from my personal experience I am glad I ignored all the negative reviews of which there are many, and went ahead and brought this, would recommend to anyone. It works brilliantly !!!

If it's too good to be true...
Followed the instructions precisely, tested in various configurations and lighting conditions, across three Kinect games, and must unfortunately conclude this is a flawed product. Like many, I would love to be able to use Kinect in a smaller space. After seeing the mixed reviews, and seeing some people had success, I assumed that if I followed the instructions properly, I would get a reasonable result. Instructions are clear, and the protective sticker if applied properly does mean that your sensor won't be damaged by clipping the new unit on. It is reasonably easy to line up with the lenses, although you may find you need to lower your sensor if you formally have it above your screen. Unfortunately for me, no amount of tweaking produced a usable final version. Looking at the calibration screen, there seems to be use fall off towards the edge of the screen, and some internal reflection within the lenses so that the tracking often sees ghosts of you. You'll also see that it offsets the image slightly, so for games like Fitness Evolved, the cut outs are slightly off centre. There are also problems with floor detection, and you'll often find that the game will lose you during levels, or at login, it will calibrate out by a significant margin. It remains one of the flaws of kinect that it fails easily in small spaces. However, this product, although producing a convincing optical effect when you look on screen, removes the delicate motion tracking needed for most Kinect games. If you're fed up with Kinect tracking, I can understand why you'd want to give this a try. However, my suspicion is that you'll be disappointed and this will end up dusty on a shelf.

Not as good as it claims... but works for me
To begin with, the biggest let down of the zoom in my opinion is that it can't function properly above the TV... this isn't really to do with the fact it is above the TV but the fact it is high up. It appears the lens' angle upwards slightly and hence when Kinect finds you it is practically aimed as far down as it's little adjusting motor lets it go... therefore when playing games were it usually adjusts downwards to see your feet and legs better it simply can't see them... this leads to all sorts of problems were it confuses your arms and legs together. After I realised this I conceded and placed the Kinect sensor below my TV and tried again, this time it worked fine, however like the packaged quick start guide indicated the Kinect hub menu hand tracking wasn't up to scratch but the games worked fine. (Kinect adventures, Kinect Sports, The Gunstringer & Rise of Nightmares) For me the Nyko Zoom succeeded in reducing the space required for the Kinect by about 3ft however as my TV is on a desk the Kinect had to be moved 1.5ft forwards (since it has to be lower down) so that it was on the edge of the desk resulting in an overall loss of 1.5ft. For me the reduction of 1.5ft was usefull as it provides just enough room for me to play Rise of Nightmares etc without the annoyance of banging my elbow off my bookcase and not having room to step backwards properly. Overall I would not recommend the Zoom but neither would I recommend avoiding it, my hope for 2-player has not worked out (due to 1.5ft loss due to desk and below TV) but it has enhanced single player a bit. Before buying this I recommend checking that this product will make a big enough difference to your playspace to warrant the price tag. (keeping in mind it should be no more than approximately 3ft above the ground).

Works Perfectly!
Despite many negative reviews, we bought the Zoom based on some of the positive reviews. Glad we did! I bought the Xbox 360 w/Kinect & the Zoom on the same day from different vendors and by chance, they were delivered on the same day, so we have never...not...used our Xbox w/o the Zoom. It was easy to set up/calibrate - very easy...Since we have a 72" TV in a smaller room, the Zoom made the difference between being able to use our new Kinect or not. We would never move couches and rearrange our room every day in order to do our daily workouts - ain't happen'in, crisis averted...Btw, our Kinect camera is about 26" off the ground. The Zoom will always be on the Kinect, although it only takes a split second to remove it, slightly longer to attach it - lining it up left to right - SIMPLE!!! Fyi, the Zoom is just a series of magnifying lens(one unit...) that snap on the Xbox Kinect camera. Not much too it, but it is a great idea and vital for situations like ours...I'm not sure why so many people are having problems with this. My guess is that some of these reviewers have problems with many of the things they buy...(draw your own conclusions...). My advice: if you think you need this, get it. The price is right. Btw, the aftermarket "privacy" covers for Kinect cameras will not fit if you have a Zoom on your camera - this should be obvious...A PHD isn't required to improvise. Maybe some genius will make one for Zoom owners, while others will just use a black sock or hankie...Whatever it is, we are feeling sort of creepy w/ this camera pointing at us while watch TV, Netflix, ect. so we are currently turning it to the side while not in use. If we can find a cover, we may just pony up another $20 for a piece of black plastic...What's another $20? (sarcasm)

Funziona!
