Good product, cleans hard to remove stains very easily when used with the sponge. Quite expensive but cheaper than buying a new toilet

Upon moving into a new house (where previous tenants didn't seem to realise toilets need cleaning - especially in a hard water region!), there was work to be done. The downstairs loo had the gruesome "brown scale/uric stain" all under the water line, and some beneath the rim. Supermarket brand cleaners did the job under the rim (quack quack oops), but the pan was another story. No matter how many times various products were used, it always returned just a few weeks later. The most successful approach seemed to be using plain old bleach to take the colour out, but obviously the scale was still present throughout...the standard liquids/gels didn't seem up to it...Out of desperation, before ripping the whole thing out and starting over, I thought "Why not give this a try?". It's a bit pricey @ £10, but I thought "I've already spent more than that on regular solutions". When it arrived I was a little surprised at how cheap the bits seemed, but what did I expect? The plastic "cleaner" is basically just a handle (think toilet brush without the head), the "non-scratch pad" attaches to the handle. I have to say it is a waste of time doing that as the pad gets split in two by the scrubbing action in under 2 minutes. I gave up on the handle and just donned a pair of rubber gloves and grabbed the pad and got busy! The cleaning liquid is watery, but spreads easily. Others have said they used 1/2 - 1/3rd, I just used the whole bottle. I recommend applying, leaving for 2 hours, re-apply using the scrubbing pad **(See picture: dip pad in bowl of cleaning fluid and wipe around - paying close attention to the bottom of the pan), use plenty of elbow grease and scrub liberally**.I repeated this every few hours over a 24 hour period, luckily we have an alternative bog upstairs (if you only have 1 - apply night before, re-do before bed, maybe leave overnight and re-do again in the morning). I have to say that the scale on ours was particularly bad; so drastic measures were necessary! After just a few hours I could no longer "feel" the scale as I was scrubbing the pan, like I could to begin with. I think the "active" chemicals are quite low concentration (to avoid taking the enamel off the porcelain) and as a result need time to do their work. It also means you have to exert a fair bit of effort to get the best results, so don't spare the rod!You can see from the pictures, that the end result was very good. Saved me the trouble/hassle of having to sort out a new loo. The cost of this "kit" is significant, but in the end was worth it. I think the trick here is to just purchase this product in the 1st instance; rather than try "cheap skating" it and get by using supermarket brand cleaners. I kept the pad, after disinfecting it will prove useful again. I scraped some of the really "gunky" lime-scale off using the bare handle, as the pointed end is quite handy for that, otherwise - just old fashioned elbow grease is the way to go.Hope this review helps somebody else to make their mind up. Dropped 1 star due to expensive price only (should be around £7 IMO).

We live in a hard water area and have noticed that things are now regularly sticking to the bowl and then sadly a toilet brush has to be used more often now to clean things up. We've realised (after closer inspection - no pun intended) that this is because the bowl has quite a bit of limescale on the back, above, and below the water line. The good news is that the issue seems to be limescale and therefore the good news is that the toilets do not need re-glazing!Double Trouble:We have tried this product on two toilets in the house. The night before, I used a Harpic Bleach product that was supposed to remove tough limescale. It hasn't done the job (see the photos) and we've used it regularly for a long time so now was the time to try something new. To be honest, we had thought it was working but the residual deposits of limescale don't lie.The first toilet is bright white and the second is "champagne" which is an off peach colour. We only bought one application but there was plenty fluid in the bottle to clean both toilets.The applicator brush also lasted so that I could use it on both toilets. However, after two applications the brush and plastic holder are now definitely finished. The good news is that I never felt that the brush was going to fall off. But once it is used twice the brush is done.I followed the instructions and put on the fluid and waited for 30-40 minutes. The next step was some vigorous but slow scrubbing under the rim, in the bowl, and around the U-bend. A good point is that the pink fluid foams up as you rub it and it gets into contact with water so you can see where you have been.Results:The White toilet looks really clean and the limescale is almost all gone. A pleasing job and seems to have done what was expected. I'd give it a good 9 out of 10 on white toiletsThe Champagne toilet looks clean to the eye. In the photos it doesn't look as good as the White toilet, but this might be because of the darker colour of the toilet itself. I did also note that in this case there is still some limescale left below the water line which I'm guessing would need more rubbing. So for darker toilets I'd give it a 7 out of 10.I would definitely use this product again - may be once every six months. It was not a difficult job and the results were very good as long as you wait at least 30 minutes.Slow but vigorous scrubbing is required with the fluid mixed in with water from the bowl. That way you will get good results - go slow to avoid unwanted splashback. Do not expect the fluid on its own to eat away the limescale, you have to put in the work I'm afraid. I suspect that this is why others weren't impressed.Everything comes in the box including gloves so when you're finished you can bin the lot with the pride of a good job done and the knowledge you won't have to do this again for a long while yet.What this has made me think is whether the regular products I have been using are any good. I may start looking at a more effective limescale removal fluid rather than something that is more like bleach that isn't really doing the job.Photos attached of old cleaning product, this product, plus before and after pictures of both toilets.

Fantastic reaults. Used it in my dqughter's toilet which had a build up of lime scale. Nothing else was budging it. Poured it in and left it Product disolved the majority of the limescale and the bit that was left was removed easily with the scrubbing tool. Toilet is like new again!

I was a little disappointed with this. I expected a strong acid but really it's not. I used the entire bottle on one application, and you could just tell that it's not very strong at all. No fizzing. It is a gel so at least it stuck around for a while. It was very difficult to squeeze it out of the bottle though. Not sure why it has a fine spout on the bottle, you can't "fire it out" so you might as well remove the spout and just pour it out.The scrubbing pad fell apart pretty quickly, but you can't expect much more. The gloves are good, but thin.It did remove all the scale, so give it credit for that, but it took a very long time.I have certainly used far stronger products than this in the past so I am afraid I have to think this is somewhat over-priced.Recommended with reservations.

I have struggled for years with our toilets. We live in an extremely hard water area, injunction with being one female amongst several men. One thing for limescale deposits, but another for uric scale, YES, if you don't flush, you get uric scale too! So I bought this product with all optimism, read the instructions which ended with you may have to repeat process. Oh Yeah, I thought so how many goes? Put together the brush, abrasive pad, squirted the liquid up and around the bowl, and some in the base of toilet, didn't use too much, because was thinking, I am gonna have to do this several times! Left it for 45 mins, went back to it and used the pad initially up under the rim, oh my god!I have never experience the black gunk that came away! I don't think that any other cleaning head has reached that far up! Which has cleared the water jets, so now I have a more powerful jet! I worked at it for a few mins, then used this handles brush, which actually conforms to your toilet "neck" couple (ten good hard) strokes and my base of pan was clean! No dirty ring and all yellow limescale gone! I know when I have pumped out the water and allowed limescale to dry it is over 1mm thick!So basically I am like Oh my god! I have used approx third of the bottle! in 45 mins. So am I impressed, you betcha I am! I have another 2 toilets to tackle, which is why I bought two sets of this stuff, but now I am thinking, well ya know I will keep the other bottle, for once every often deep clean!I am a mother of 5 teenage boys, plus hubby, peeing and flushing has been my nemesis!If you are not sure about this product.....take my word as one who has suffered for years, this is the bees knees of getting results, I 100% recommend.

Works well but not sure it's any better than strong bleach

Had a toilet which had not been cleaned in years, brown limescale stains above and below the waterline and around the rim.Forked out for this stuff not expecting much - and late one night squirted it under the rim and above the water line to start with. Hardly any of the normal 'kills 100% of limescale' etc. products you buy in the supermarket seem to work (including the big brand ones) so assumed that in the morning I would need to get some scouring pads and slowly try to remove the dirt using multiple applications on a daily basisSo I was very surprised to find in the morning that a lot of the dirt simply fell away at first flush - and in fact when I just used the loo brush on the rest of the muck 80% of it shifted to leave a clean surface.I did one more application that night - letting a lot fall under the waterline - brushed again next morning and the loo ended up looking like new.Given the state of the toilet, this product would not be too expensive if it was double the price because in my experience it worked like no other product I have used. I still have 50% of it left incidentally.Well worth it - and encouraged me to try other HG products which hopefully are as effective.
