Proteus Versipack

I strap this to the handlebars of my bike, and it's perfect for day rides. Far more comfortable than wearing a backpack and it's removable in a few seconds when needed (I attach it by reversing the two front straps and clipping them behind the bag, this also makes the pockets easier to access). It's large enough to carry my lunch, tools and repair kit, my camera, my phone (easy access in the front pocket) my wallet etc. It's completely weatherproof (my camera isn't, so this is important) and it's easy to clean mud off. It's been on 5 rides with me now, and I can't fault it. It's expensive, but it feels practically indestructible so I'm expecting it to last. I can't comment on its intended use as a hiking bum bag, but if you don't mind looking like a bit of a prat I expect it'll be excellent for that too. Update: years later I can say the bag has stood up to many bike rides and mud/rain like it was nothing. I am now using it as a baby bag, and it’s excellent for that too. It’s small enough that it’s easy to hang/attach to a buggy, and it’s big enough to hold a bottle (the side pockets are perfect for the squat style bottles that are common), 3-4 nappies, pack of wet wipes, pack of food, small medkit, odds & ends like nail scissors, tube of sudocrem etc. etc. Thanks to the abundance of webbing attachment points it was easy to put a couple of bits of shock cord on it so I can securely lash a thermos to it for heating food/milk. It continues to be a very versatile bag, I wonder what use we’ll find for it next…

We all know and love Maxpedition for their quality and this item is no exception. Everything is extremely sturdy and the materials are of prime quality (impervious to the rain to, which helps quite much!). I'm a rather large guy and the width of this bag very well matches my chest preventing it from getting in the way or hitting it with my hand while walking. Do mind though, that the belt is none too long which means that gentlemen with beer gut might find it difficult or simply impossible to buckle it up. The interior is well designed, with a number of additional compartments for better managing the space and preventing the contents from trashing around.

I bought the bag in black a few months ago primarily for two reasons: (1) so my stuff is better organised and easier to locate when camping and (2) the waist belt means I can be hands free to handle our dogs. It is a great bag that works well on both counts. I find it has plenty of room for the items I actually need to carry. I have hand washed and drip dried the bag - so easy to keep clean. Whilst originally bought for camping, I have also used it as a more general handbag as it looks relatively tidy and the stitching against the black background give it a pin stripe appearance. Overall very pleased with this purchase.

Great quality.... Just as well coz its not cheap. Easily fits 52 inch waste and the buckles are pro quality. Just one thing missing - there's loads of attachment banding/loops on the outside but it could do with some inside the compartments. That would get the fifth star. Great for hiking, biking, first aiding, or using as a Man-bag with the straps neatly tucked away in their bespoke hidy place. I even use it as an IT kit bag - Holds a 3TB usb book style drive nicely.

Used it only once with the Janus extension pouch the combination worked well i bought the shoulder strap threaded strap through back of Janus pouch

A little smaller than I thought, although I can still get a packable waterproof jacket and trousers in the main compartment. Very well made with lots of upgrade options. You will want to add a drinks holder (which are EXPENSIVE) but there are good ones available from other sources with MOLLE straps - and I find them best on the belt itself so you can get a drink easily on the go. A great alternative to a mini back pack if you want to keep your shoulders and back exposed to a cooling breeze!

This is a really great little pack from Maxpedition. This is a newer version from the photo as it has the two D clips attached for use with a shoulder strap than can be purchased separately. I've just got the 1.5" Maxpedition shoulder strap in foliage green and it's just right for this pack and colour as the webbing and waist strap is also foliage green. Maxpedition in my opinion make the best packs you can buy and this one is no exception! I plan on getting the larger version of this pack - the Sabercat very soon! Ik ben zeer tevreden over de Maxpedition Messenger Bag Proteus Versipack in zwart (MAXP-402-B)! Excelente calidad en materiales y acabados. No es barata, pero te durará para siempre. Está muy bien diseñada y tiene muchos compartimentos para llevarlo todo bien organizado. Está pensada para llevarla por el asa o a la cintura como una riñonera, pero comprando una correa, que se vende a parte, también se puede llevar en bandolera. Yo la uso para llevar un equipo de emergencia en el coche o si voy de viaje, pero también es muy adecuada para llevar un botiquín o un pequeño equipo de fotografía (o cualquier otra cosa que se te ocurra). La calidad no te va a decepcionar.

Lieferung erfolgte sehr schnell und vor der angegebenen Zeit. Die Tasche ist Maxpedition typisch super verarbeitet und es passt eine menge Kram rein, mehr als ich gedacht hätte. Für jeden Tag im Auto eine gute Alternative zu einem Rucksack, der für mich für jeden Tag zu gross ist. Da Maxpedition seine Produktion umstellt und teilweise nach Vietnam verlagert ist das Logo ohne " Hard use gear". Trotz der Produktionsverlagerung Qualität Top. Klare Kaufempfehlung

Un bolso de cintura resistente con unos materiales de calidad. Muy practico para el uso diario o de viaje. Es un diseño que me gusta mucho, como toda la gama de articulos de Maxpedition.
