One of my kittens keeps licking the filter since she discovered it by accident. I removed the filter out of concern. Would it pose any danger?

Likely not if she is only licking. If she is chewing there is a choke hazard or a foreign body hazard but licking alone isn't a big deal.

How do you stop cats from clawing and biting at these? Ours have been ripped to shreds within weeks by two 5 month old kittens 🤦♀️

Gett them off and put their claws on the scratching post and then give them a treat, should take a few times.

do u just use ordinary cat litter

yes susan just use whatever is your preferred litter.the tray is absolutely huge so its quite a large area to fill.we have 2 young indoor cats so i change litter twice a week and don't fill too deep.its excellent tray for a deep fill and weekly change without odour.what you will find if you have an ardent digger they have hours of fun rearranging the litter.excellent tray for large cats or several smaller.hope this was helpful

Can you wash the filter and reuse?

The filters are not washable. I change it for a fresh new one every two weeks when I clean and refill the tray with new litter.
