I need to replace with a plastic switch and there is no earth present in the socket. Please can you confirm that the switch is entirely plastic?

All accessible parts are plastic except for the fixing screws. I've just replaced several in my parents 1960’s bungalow, the metal plastered in back boxes were MK of that vintage and unearthed but in mitigation the screw receptacles are plastic on these back boxes so the metal screws are insulated, not entirely happy but most had no visible earth in the cable and would not pull through easily.

Is this compatible with mk k1189rpwhi pendant fitting and led bulb? i’m looking to replace an old dimmer that could be causing flashing and flickering

It should be compatible but it’s just a plain on/off switch, not a dimmer.

could you tell me the distance between the screws please? thanks

Ivy,We bought one of these a while ago, so I measured the distance between the two screws, answer 60mm.I'd very much recommend this vendor, as we needed longer screws than supplied, and they sent a couple without fuss.As ever ensure power is turned off before doing any work on them.

Hi Liz - as far as I can see they are general light switches and I bought it for my kitchen. It is, however, a 2 way switch as I have a door to the outside and a door to my lounge, both of which have switches on the wall next to them in the kitchen to turn on the centre kitchen light and I bought this one to replace the one by the lounge door. If you need one for a room with only one switch in it for the centre light (or wall lights), then you will need a one way switch. I don't think it makes any difference whether the property it is going to be installed in is a house or a flat. Just make sure it is correct for your purpose as in the difference I mention above.
