will they smudge if used on Architects tracing paper which is very similar to modern day greaseproof paper (not the old tissue style paper)

Just tried it on a piece of grease proof paper and the pen doesn't smudge. I put some lines on the paper and smudged it with my finger and it was alright so should be fine for you.

What size are these? Are these like the mini version or the normal size pen?

These are normal sized pens but with a fine nib, like the mini ones! Hope that makes sense?

Do they come with the box shown

yes but note that the box is not a hard plastic box but cardboard so not sure of its durability. May need to buy a replacement storage case in the long term.
