Pop Up Pirate is one of those games that almost everyone remembers, and it’s great to see that it’s just as fun now as it ever was. We bought it for our five-year-old, who loves getting everynoe together for a quick game - it’s often one of the first things she reaches for when friends or family are around. The build quality feels reassuringly solid and sturdy, very much in keeping with the versions many of us grew up with. The barrel and pirate are robust enough to cope with repeated use, and the swords slot in smoothly. Each round only takes a couple of minutes, which makes it ideal for shorter attention spans and easy to fit in between other activities. Despite its simplicity, it has great replayability. The anticipation of not knowing which sword will make the pirate pop never seems to wear off, and it consistently gets laughs from both kids and adults. When you’re done, everything packs away neatly, making it easy to store without losing pieces. A simple, well-made game that’s stood the test of time and still works brilliantly as a fast, inclusive family favourite.

A fun toy for my dd and her cousins/friends to play with

Push the pirate down and take it turns to drive a sword into a hole in the barrel until one of them pokes the pirate and he jumps a good foot in the air! It is purely down to luck who wins with a different hole activating the mechanism each time. It is just mechanical so no batteries are required. Play to pop or not to pop, up to you. Good with two players but better with four for added excitement and suspense and you can play rounds. Each game takes just a couple of minutes, so you can always squeeze in a quick game if you are short on time, but promised you'd play something. Can be used as a fair and fun decision maker if you have two or more children fighting over something! If your children like this sort of game, try also Dino Bite (really makes you jump) or Buckaroo which has an element or skill as well. If you have a Frozen fan there is also a Pop Up Olaf version . Great game and a good one to get out if you have family or friends over as anyone can play and it will entertain all ages.

Rather a disappointment as despite loading in the pirate he didn't always pop up even with Avery sword inserted. Maybe we were doing something wrong but it wasn't that much fun

Defective. It rarely works properly. You can insert all the knives and the pirate often doesn’t pop up at all. It works maybe once every five tries, which makes it pretty much useless.

Sumamente divertido sobretodo si lo juegas con compás y se ponen retos cuando pierden, se nota la calidad del producto, cada que juegas cambia de hoyo, es mas grande de lo que esperaba, inicialmente se me hacia un poco caro pero una vez que lo tienes se nota que vale cada centavo por lo bien que está hecho y lo bonito que es, sinceramente lo compre porque lo vi en un episodio de larva y turba y es igual de divertido que en ese video
