Definitely a great buy!!
I am really impressed with the quality and look of this messenger bag! It's a really nice deep brown color, and the leather is nice and soft. There are plenty of pockets, and the hardware is all metal. The strap is nice and wide, and is fully adjustable, so you can wear it cross body also. There is plenty of room for your laptop, and or other electronic devices, cables, power supply, and chargers. I feel this will hold my items safely and securely. I would definitely buy another one as a gift.

Great bag with very minor caveats.
This was bought as a gift, but I'm strongly considering buying one for myself. Overall, this is a very nice bag - real leather and the hardware seem very solid. How durable it will be remains to be seen, but the leather is thick and heavy. Speaking of the leather, be advised that this leather has an odor to it. It is not unpleasant, and those who do woodworking will quickly recognize it as Linseed oil. It is used to used to soften leather, though it stiffen as it dries. I recommend buying and treating the bag with a good conditioner/protectant before use. I do not see this as a drawback. Things to about this bag - everything is held closed with buckles, not snaps or magnets. This might cause some minor inconvenience if you are accustomed to an easier open-closed experience, but for me, it lends itself to the ruggedness of the bag. Here are the negatives as I see them: The interior is nicely lined but it is not padded, so I suggest a nice sleeve for important delicate electronics, such as laptops or tablets. Lastly, if you're accustomed to having a pocket for your water bottle, this bag does not have one. All that said, if you are searching for a super solid, old school, well-crafted messenger bag, this definitely fits the bill. The stitching appears to be solid and heavy duty. The grain of the leather is very nice and is probably unique to each bag, as it is made of hide, not plastic or vinyl. Overall I highly recommend this back with the minor caveats mentioned above.

Durable Bag- perfect gift for a grad student
Where to begin. This is the most durable bag I've ever had and it has so much room/organization. I can easily fit 3 notebooks (5 subject), and two water bottles in the large middle pocket, with enough room in the other pockets for anything else I could hope to store. In addition to the main large pocket there is a pocket behind that for a laptop, with 2 smaller pockets sewn on to the front of it (that wasn't even mentioned in the product description). In front of the largest pocket there is a slightly smaller pocket with enough room for a small umbrella and a bit extra. It has 4 little slots for pens (a bit too wide for one pen but can easily hold 2 pens) and a zipper with yet another compartment for storage. On the front of the bag there are 2 nice sized pockets of the same size. Each has about enough room to fit a medium sized stapler and a recorder. Also on the front of the bag is yet another zippered compartment. On the sides of the bag there are some small, taller pockets great for lesser items you might not want to clutter the larger compartments with like a phone charger or pencil sharpeners. On the back of the bag is yet another zippered compartment perfect for storing packs of scantrons. Ultimately it has immense organization potential with so many pockets and compartments everywhere, it has so much room (the main reason I got the bag to begin with), and is super durable. The strap is extremely durable; the clamps on it in particular are the best. After almost 2 months of having the bag it shows no signs of wear and I carry a lot of stuff in this bag. And other bags of this quality were all at least $230, and typically much smaller. Plus, it really does look quite nice- I've gotten several compliments on it. For me the leather smell faded after about 2 days and went away completely within a week. I don't know if this is goat leather or cow hide but I don't really care or see why it would matter. It's a high quality bag for moderate quality price; the perfect gift for a grad student that has too much to carry and needs something that will do that and last.

Luxury is not having to buy it again
Great looking bag, and lots of compliments. It's made from real goat leather. Saw a few reviews knocking the smell, but it smells like leather..and I happen to like how real leather smells. It definitely reminds me of the pleasant fragrance of tobacco leaf or a good scotch. As soon as you get this bag, I definitely recommend stuffing kitchen towels in every pocket (to inflate the bag) and applying your favorite leather conditioner to it. I do worry a bit about some of the creases in the leather that bend often (i.e. the bottom corners of the bag and sides of the pockets), but the leather appears to be of pretty good quality and should be ok with proper care. There are some discolorations on the leather, but I like them because you know that you have real deal leather from an animal (in this case, goat hide)...not some synthetic manufactured material. The bag has plenty of storage space and pockets. The interior is made of a rugged and stiff green linen that will probably soften the more it is used. Now for the bad: there were probably 3-4 spots where some of the string used to bind the bag together were frayed. I did use scissors to trim them up a bit. While conditioning, definitely noticed a fair amount of residual glue/adhesive around the bag; I ended up peeling it off, so again, no biggie. The metal for the buckles and clips for the shoulder strap seem pretty "light", so I do worry about their longevity to holding up to daily abuse. Honestly, I think a little more effort on quality assurance or attention to detail could bring my review to 5 stars. The great thing about good leather though is that it holds up well if treated properly, so things like the metal fastenings and thread can probably be repaired later down the line...and this bag seems like it could last a few lifetimes. Lastly, I certainly did appreciate the "thank you" note and the hand made notebook from the seller. I would certainly buy this again and am grateful for this bag. The price point is outstanding, and I have definitely received a ton of compliments for how good this bag looks. One person commented that it looks like something Indiana Jones would tote around... I take it as praise. All in all, it's great to have the confidence of knowing something is built to last. A luxury item should be something that has the potential to be an antiquity due to it's superior material and craftsmanship. For the price, I think this bag certainly fits the bill.

Great looking good quality leather satchel bag
Beautiful bag. It is definitely genuine leather. Quality is great, looks are amazing. Good compartmentalized space inside. Zippers are good. Leather strap can be slightly shorter by 3-4 inches. Buckles are good. The leather smell is not that bad like reviews say, every original leather item has a typical smell, thats natural. Nothing unbearable. Overall great looking good quality satchel bag

Great quality!
I actually purchased the Cuero Leather Messenger Bag for my husband a while ago, and I’m finally writing a review because he still uses it all the time and he keeps telling me how much he loves it. The leather has held up so well and has that nice, worn-in look now that only real full-grain leather gets. When it first arrived, there was a slight leather smell, but it went away pretty quickly and wasn’t a big deal. Since then, it’s been nothing but solid. The stitching and hardware are still in great shape, and the 18-inch size fits his laptop and all his work stuff perfectly without feeling too bulky. The shoulder strap has also been really comfortable for him, even on longer days. Overall, this bag has turned out to be well worth the cost. It’s practical, stylish, and clearly made to last. If you’re thinking about getting one, do it. I highly recommend it.

Quality REAL LEATHER!
Quality REAL LEATHER! Sturdy construction, durable thick leather, quality hardware, well stiched throughout with cleanly incorporated lining. Plenty of smaller pockets including two small pockets on each end, all with leather tabs and buckles. Crossbody strap is easily adjustable, and this size is perfect for multiple uses. Couldn't be more pleased with the quality at this price point! Grateful!

Good looking satchel with critical design / execution flaws
EDIT 2: Another couple of weeks, and now the zipper on the back panel has broken. I've rarely used this; even so, the insert pin has stripped away, so now the teeth won't align. The slider will move, but the zipper doesn't zip. EDIT: After few additional weeks of use, the bag has more issues with the handles. While I was able to fix the shoulder strap connection (see pic...$10 at hardware store), the handle is on the verge of failing - see tear in picture. As a result, I'm lowering the rating to 1 star. I still like the look of this satchel, but the handle/strap issues are wholly unacceptable. While not expensive at $70 (compare to "similar" items at over $200), these problems will make the bag useless far too soon for any price. I ordered this item as a replacement for a computer backpack that had outlived it's usefulness. I was looking for something with a more professional presentation, and always liked the look of a leather satchel. This bag fit my main criteria.... large enough for a 17" laptop with plenty of space and pockets for all the paraphernalia of a modern traveler - phone, tablet, notepad, and lots of power cords. The bag has a good design, a nice look and is the right size. The bag was also a good price - about $70 when I bought it. Here are my Pros and Cons. Pros. 1) Size. Perfect for 15" or 17" laptops. Plenty of space for accessories. 2) Pockets... 4 exterior pockets. Side pockets are perfect for a mouse or small glasses cases. Front pockets good for passport, wallet, earbuds, etc. I also carry my entry badge for office, some business cards, and small pouch of tissues. 3) Look. The overall look is classic, with nice stitching and buckles galore. The bag I received was a lighter color than the picture - more light tan than brown - but I fixed this with some brown scuff repair, which the leather absorbed well. Cons 1) The designs of the carrying handle and shoulder strap are insufficient for a bag this size. The clips that are fastened to the bag are very sturdy, using rivets, but the handle and strap components are weak. One clip on the shoulder strap broke after only a few weeks of use. See attached picture. I have not yet contacted the manufacturer to see about replacement (in part because getting a new one with the same design flaw seems pointless) Without the shoulder strap, I'm concerned about the single-strapped connector on the front having to carry too much weight... will eventually see, I suppose. 2) Shoulder strap connection to the bag is placed in such a way that the strap significantly compresses the top of the bag. The top flap of the bag is 2-2.5" wider than the inward curving sides of the bag. This design causes creases on both edges of the top flap, and one in the middle just below the handle. The two-piece shoulder strap buckles right in the middle which can put the buckle right on your shoulder when carrying. A better design would have the buckle far to one side eliminating this issue. 3) The handle design is not sturdy enough for the bag. I don't overload the bag, but with computer, headphones, and accessories, the thin strap on the handle stretches precariously. [EDIT: the leather is now tearing at the connection to the bag. See picture. The looseness of the handle, combined with the thin leather, and small diameter connector have allowed the handle to pull awkwardly, creating this tear. I expect it will tear completely through within a few more days.] The stitches on the handle also use thread, rather than leather, so these stitches are coming undone. The rectangular metal clips easily turn between the bag and handle, since both loops are very loose around the clip. This rotation adds stress on the leather. 4) Computer pouch. The bag has well padded inner partitions. These padded partitions sandwich the wide (~4") center section in the bag (which does not have padding on the bottom). The narrow sleeves, one on either side of the center partition, have padding on only the one side. This means that one side of the computer is not protected very well. Despite the issues I've described, I really like this bag. I just can't give it better than three stars. I expect I'll be able to find fixes for the strap and handle so that I can keep using the bag.

Gorgeous bag
I am so happy with this messenger bag. I researched several before deciding on this one. Let me break it down for you: 1. The bag is huge! There are so many pockets and compartments, I'm not even sure I'll use them all. There are 2 zipper compartments on the outside of the bag (one at the front under the flap, and another at the back.) There are also many pockets inside and out - pockets on the front and sides - more small pockets inside, and three large inner compartments to hold my mobile phone, tablet, air pods, wallet, journal, etc. 2. The leather material is beautiful, thick, and sturdy. The colour is beautiful and warm, and makes the bag look vintage instead of brand new. 3. The large cross-body strap is also made from thick, sturdy leather. Once I adjusted it to the length I wanted, I slid the comfortable band over the buckle area to prevent it from digging into my shoulder. 4. The inner lining is a strong canvas material. This should hold up well under regular use. 5. The stitching throughout the bag is beautifully done. I read many reviews from people complaining about a smell. Hello! It's genuine leather, of course it's going to smell. That smell dissipated quickly, as is normal with a genuine leather product such as this. Another thing some reviewers complained about is the stiffness of the leather. This is also normal. Leather is stiff when you first get it. Through normal use, it softens and becomes supple. I'm guessing that the reviewers who complained about the smell and feel of the leather aren't used to genuine leather products. Reviewers also complained about an oily substance and plastic wrap. Both of these are found on the buckles and metal rings. This is also normal. Oil is used to condition the leather; it's natural for there to be a residue on the overall bag. Within minutes of using the bag, the oil, like the smell, dissipated. After continued use, it shouldn't take long for the smell and oil to completely disappear. As for the the plastic wrap - also normal. This is to protect the metal parts on the straps and pockets. The makers add it to protect the metal parts until the product reaches the consumer. With very little effort, the plastic easily came off. Overall, this is a beautiful, leather crafted, messenger bag. It holds my 15-inch laptop easily, as well as my full-size iPad, phone, thick writing journal, and more. With all the additional pockets and compartments inside and out, I know this bag will more than meet my needs.

Great product
Tbh I bought this before I read the reviews and then read the reviews and thought I’d thrown my cash away, BUT this is a fantastic bag. It doesn’t stink (it smells like leather) is hardy (at the moment I’m travelling for work most weeks and I’ve been using it pretty much non stop for two months and it’s held up well), it fits my laptop and cable well, as well as my compendium, a novel I’m reading and various other odds and ends with not trouble. It’s got plenty of compartments and pouch’s for you to lose stuff it. About a week ago I put some leather conditioner in it and it’s more soft and supple and beautiful than ever. Update- I’ve now had the bag for more than a year, I use it every weekday to take my laptop etc to and from the office or wherever else. I occasionally get a compliment from someone on how nice it looks. The more I use it the more dark & supple the leather becomes. Really glad I bought it. Have whacked some leather conditioner on it a couple of times in the year and a bit I’ve had it
