I assume you would need to have a shower or at least clean your pits everytime before applying? So unlike deodarant you can not just put it on??

Of course! It’s a stick deodorant not a spray! You would feel most uncomfortable without doing so!

I have never used dry stick before? How does this work? IF i just dab it on doesnt this mean the stick will become un hygenic?

It is not totally dry.. your body heat will melt the top layer so it glides onto you. It is not at all unhygienic - I've been using this for 19 years now with no issues at all. It is expensive though.

Is this solid white or more clear/translucent?

No its not solid white, there is no trace of white its almost translucent.

Is the stick actually alcohol free or not? The is conflicting information on the details ans ingredients lists.
