Plumber installed new shower and silicon smeared on tiles & glass screen. Would this product work as I cannot scrape residue off without scratching?

I found the silicon remover effective and had no detrimental effect on tiles. it didn't come into contact with any glass.

Dreadful window fitters smeared mastic over my painted walls, can I use this to remove it without causing further damage?

Mastic is a firm of glue and has much more ingredients in its formulation,than just silicone. As a result I doubt whether silicone sealant remover will help. Suggest commercial strength acetone (nail polish remover) on a cloth and plenty of elbow grease

Can you leave it around bath for 24 hours or will it stop taking effect after a certain time?

You can leave it for 24 hours but it is better to leave it a few hours, remove the softened silicone and reapply if necessary, especially if you are trying to remove a thick bead if silicone

Has anyone used this on granite work tops or travertine tiles? Concerned about leaving it so long and causing damage.

I haven't, but you could mask the area to prevent possible damage, or try a test area, somewhere small, underneath out of sight.
