What size miter guide slot does this fit? I have an older Craftsman 14” band saw, not sure of the guide slot dimension…

Miter guide bar adjusts to fit standard 3/4 x 3/8 miter slots. I have a Craftsman 12 inch "Euro" fits fine very adjustable. Works great! no more destroyed blades LOL.

how wide a log will it hold? Also, can it hold a log lengthwise to cut a slab?

At the top the tool is about 10 inches, but I wouldn't attempt anything more than7-8 inches in diameter max. As far as being able to cut a slab with this device, maybe a 4 inch teeny weeny slab. Carter makes a device called the Accurate Log Mill, that you can purchase on this this site, that you might consider for cutting planks up to about 24 inches, or so.
