SAMSUNG 9 CUBE ICE MAKER ASSEMBLY DA97-07365G OEM Original Part

In searching for a replacement ice maker for my Samsung fridge, I found 2 different ice maker models on the internet that said they fit my fridge. It was difficult to determine which model was correct for my fridge, but I finally figured it out. Here is what I found, in hopes this helps someone else: My fridge: Samsung, model RFG295AAWP/XAA, French door with bottom freezer. Ice maker is in fridge compartment and discharges thru left French door. Problem was faulty heater element. Ice tray would fill with water and freeze, but motor would make clicking sound while trying to push frozen ice out of tray without help of the heater. This ice maker: Samsung model DA97-05422A. This ice maker fits my fridge, and comes completely assembled with ALL PLASTIC HOUSING PARTS INCLUDED AND ATTACHED, including top hanger bracket, ice guide fingers, and ice tray paddle. If you buy this ice maker, all you do is remove one Phillips screw to remove a small panel to access the cable plug, unsnap and pull out the old ice maker (no tools for this), and reverse the steps to install the replacement ice maker. This literally takes 5 minutes and you are done. This is a very simple customer repair. The other ice maker that fits: Samsung model DA97-05554A. This ice maker also fits my fridge. The difference is this part number gets you the guts of the ice maker (motor and motor housing, tray, heater, and cable), but does not include the top hanger bracket, ice guide fingers, or ice tray paddle. These 3 plastic parts generally do not break, and can be removed from your old ice maker and attached to this new ice maker before installing this ice maker in your fridge. Two of the plastic parts just unscrew from the old ice maker frame, but the ice guide finger bracket contains tabs that fit into other parts of the old ice maker frame, so the entire ice maker (motor housing etc.) must be disassembled to get this part off. So, if you want to save a few dollars, buy this ice maker part number, but plan to spend an extra 30 minutes getting the plastic parts off your old ice maker and installed on your new ice maker before snapping it into your fridge. I elected to spend the extra money and purchase the DA97-05422A complete unit, and was happy to eliminate the need to swap the plastic parts! The new ice maker makes lots of ice, and is faster than the original. TIP: Have patience when it is first installed! When I plugged in my new ice maker, it did nothing. I pressed the reset button on the unit and held in for 10 - 15 seconds, still nothing. I put the fridge and freezer into "power freeze" mode (since I had the door open) to quickly cool the insides, and tried the reset button several more times, still nothing. So I gave up and went to bed. Next morning (7 hours later) the ice tray was full of ice, and it's been working fine ever since.

This was so simple to replace and it works great. Would have cost way more to have someone come out to even look at the old one.

I was able to install this replacement ice maker into my refrigerator within five minutes. One screw, a cover plate for the cable and plug were the only things that I needed to be conscious of. Taking it all apart was easy and the plug separated with little force. The toughest part was getting the clip pushed in the right way to allow the actual motor to come off of the roof of the refrigerator. Installation of the replacement was quick and once I turned it all back on, I was back to making ice within an hour and the tray was full within 12 hours. Very easy DIY project and good replacement part so far.

I have done it. The new ice maker arrived, and I installed it with trembling hands. Ten minutes, no more. A simple mechanical act—removing the old, placing the new. Yet even in this small task, I felt the weight of my crime… depriving my family and dog of ice cubes for what seemed an eternity. At first there was only silence. I pressed the test button, but no chime came. The machine sat cold and dead. I stood there in the kitchen, convinced I had been punished once again. No ice, no sound, only the terrible quiet of doubt. But in the morning, I returned—and there it was. The bin was filled to the brim with perfect, shining cubes. A small mountain of ice, glistening like evidence of my redemption. The dog wagged his tail with shameless joy, and my family smiled.

The original icemaker in my five year-old Samsung stopped working right before Thanksgiving. I replaced it with this one. It was an extremely easy fix using only a Phillips head screw driver. This unit is an update of the original, with greater clearance between the edge of the ice tray and the paddles that remove the cubes. This should help stop the unit from grinding on ice build up, and it does seem to be a lot quieter than the one I had to replace. It's been working flawlessly for a month now.

Replaces original, easy DIY install.

What it is: Replacement 7 cube ice maker unit. Why you need it: Original units made by Samsung for Samsung and GE Refrigerators are prone to fail due to a faulty heating element and faulty MAIN PCB board. If your appliance has this issue, call GE at 800-386-1215 opt 5 or Samsung (Samsung Bulletin Number ASC20071012001 and get the kit. The kit (Samsung Part DA81-01421A) includes both the Ice Maker (Samsung Part DA97-05422A) and Main PCB Assembly (Samsung DA41-00413C). Both parts are interchangeable with the respective Samsung and GE appliances. Why I like it: I did not know there was a Service Bulletin, and bought just the ice maker. It works great, and makes ice much faster due to the improved design. The Service Bulletin was in the box, so I called and will be receiving the upgraded Main PCB direct from GE. Users should replace both the ice maker and the main pcb assembly to prevent the issue from happening again. If I knew about this ahead of time, I would have called them direct, and received the kit for a major discount since this is a Technical Service Bulletin. Good luck, and I hope this helps save customers a headache and some $$.

This review uses Samsung refrigerator and part model numbers. This part is apparently used in GE refrigerators as well, but I do not know if they use the same model numbers or not. My Samsung refrigerator's ice maker started making ice sporadically, and eventually it stopped making ice at all. After some research online, I discovered this is a fairly common problem with this particular part, and they tend to quit working after only a few years, needing replacement relatively frequently. So, I ordered the part, and with the assistance of a youtube video, was able to swap out the old, malfunctioning unit with the new one. Within the hour I could hear the new ice maker dropping ice into the bucket. Mission accomplished. The repair takes less than five minutes and requires only a screwdriver to remove a single screw. So, save yourself the hassle and cost of hiring a service repairman to come to your home. If your Samsung ice maker fails, order a replacement directly from a parts retailer and install it yourself. Just do a search on youtube to learn the installation procedure. Also note, this part is a seven cube model. I see online many folks needing a nine cube model ordering this part in error. Make sure you're replacing a seven cube ice maker. Now, an additional caveat. Some Samsung models also require their main control board replaced in addition to the ice maker itself. Based on my research, four models fall into this category: RF267AABP, RF267AARS, RF267AASH, RF267AAWP. If your fridge is on this list, you want to order part DA81-01421A, which is a kit including both the ice maker and main control board. If your fridge is not on this list, you need only the ice maker. The main control board is located on the back of the fridge behind a service panel easily accessed with a screwdriver. Just make sure you unplug the fridge before tinkering with the service panel. The board comes out easily after unplugging all the wire connections, and you simply need to plug them all back into the new board. I hope this review saves some folks some time and money. It really is an easy fix, whether you need the ice maker only, or the kit with ice maker and control board. Good luck!

Fit perfect. Easy to install

Samsung fridge stopped making ice so I checked Google and Youtube and I narrowed it down to two parts, the filter housing containing the solenoid valves or the ice maker assembly. Unfortunately I replaced the housing first...I have an extra one now as that was not the problem. I ordered and installed the ice maker assemble and it works great. Perfect fit for my fridge. Fixed just in time for the refreshing warm weather drinks.

Very easy install. Took no time and makes ice just like original. Arrived earlier than expected and save us a ton of money. No repair man required for this install.

Works perfect and is exactly like the oem Ice maker, would give 5 stars. Do to the poor packaging mine came with a small crack next to the water fill, lucky that it was where it was located that it didn't affect operation of the unit. Very happy with the product. The one time I could have used the over boxed amazon packaging..lol Would still recommend. Hopefully they correct the issue.
