I want comfort without the heat. Will this work?

Definitely- I don’t experience any extra heat with this cotton top!!

Is the bed pad really puffy like it looks in the air or is it going to be flat when I take it out

that’s what it looks like on my bed. my mattress is memory foam so flat but the pad is puffy even after a month or more of use. I’m very happy with it.

I measure the coolness the same way I measure my cats saliva. A droplet a day keeps the AC at bay.

How many years did this topper last for those who have had it for a long time?

I have had one for three years now, and another one I just purchased. They are very good quality, so I think how long they last would depend on how many times you wash it per year, and how many stains it accumulates over the years. My three-year-old mattress cover still looks as new as the one I just purchased.
