Extremely capable watch for the price
This is my second Amazfit watch, having previously owned the Bip U Pro model. This is a significant upgrade over that model and I am extremely happy with the purchase. Battery Life - 5/5: I have had this for about 10 days now, and a single charge has gotten me through. I am using this thing fairly often throughout the day and interacting with it quite a lot as I get to know its bells and whistles. The battery is very strong! Screen - 5/5: The screen is also quite bright on this watch. I have had no problems getting a clear read from it, even in bright and direct sunlight. It also gets quite dark at night, and the adaptive brightness is fairly responsive. Tracking - 4/5: So far, it seems to track activity, heart rate, and sleep reasonably well, but its not without hiccups. For example, it gave me a sleep score of 94/100 last night, and I can say I did not sleep very well in reality. I can't say that others are inherently better, but it is a drawback. The heart rate tracking can be sporadic, but I also tend not to wear it super tightly so that is naturally going to reduce the accuracy. Workouts do track fairly well when I use it, and the GPS works nicely for tracking runs. Comfort - 4/5: So far, the comfort has been reasonably good. Again, I can't say I have owned an apple watch or other competitor to use as a reference point, but the band has been pretty comfortable and I have not gotten any rash or anything that can be common with these sport bands. I will say wearing it a bit looser does prevent moisture from becoming trapped, so that likely has helped. Aesthetics - 4/5: Overall its a nice looking watch. I don't love the red dial, but otherwise it looks nice! As a 6'4 male, the size is an advantage, but for smaller frames I could see it being too large. Customizability and App Companion - 4/5: The Zepp app largely works quite well, but it can be a bit confusing to navigate. I have not had a great chance to use the coaching, so cannot comment on that just yet. The watch faces available aren't bad, but I will say they aren't all the prettiest. Some are quite a lot nicer, but others look like a 12 year old could have designed it. But that said, there are plenty of options that run the spectrum, so you shouldn't ever feel limited by that. Overall - 5/5: The price is great, the functionality is really good, battery life is impressive. There may be some marginal drawbacks, but this is a GREAT smartwatch at a great price.

Very full-featured, works amazingly well, stunning battery life
I have been exceptionally impressed with this watch. All the advertised features work as promised (rare!) and the app is easy to use with almost all the data collected, processed, and displayed in very thoughtful and intuitive ways. And it collects so much useful data - far more than most fitness trackers. Battery life is unreal - I collect every available metric every 5 minutes 24 hours a day, consult it dozens a times each day, have the screen on full-time during all workouts, and it still lasts a week+ between charges. I scanned all my grocery-store, gym, etc. membership cards into the app and now I don't have to carry any of them with me - they are all on my wrist. It has made a huge difference in my fitness efforts due to the motivation that comes from being able to precisely track what you accomplish. There are some small issues that I would like to see improved: The app features annoying adds for add-on services (like more detailed sleep analysis) that require subscriptions. You can't turn them off either - they just come right back. It also includes an app store where you can buy watch faces and apps for a few dollars each. This is frustrating because almost all of them are available to download free from miwatchfaces(dot)com - they are reselling other people's free work and charging for it. My only other gripe is that the only Heart Rate Variability measurement function is a metric called "stress" with an arbitrary number that is provided after every measurement. This makes it difficult to interpret for one of the most useful ways of using HRV which is identifying when you are coming down sick a few days before you actually get symptoms. Also, why does that app consume so much background data??? But don't get me wrong, there are very few purchases I have made this year that have been as positively impactful and valuable. This is a great watch.

Very nice smart watch but why have one?
I've had this for several weeks now and this is my first smart watch experience. This one works and looks great and has great battery life if you set it up right. The heart rate is accurate, the steps are fairly accurate. The sleep info is nice.( I wish it had an ekg and blood pressure function. That would be info I'd like to have) The notifications work well. I don't like that can't really answer messages from fb or texts. They have a few pre made canned answers you can send back but you have to use your phone to answer properly. The other functions like music etc. Work fine also. All in all its a very nice watch. The faces variety seem limited. I don't use all of the excerise functions so I can't speak on those. I've resisted getting one for a long time because I really didn't see the point of having one if you have your phone nearby anyway. I stand by that even more now after getting one. Although it's handy to let you know about messages and you can answer a call if you're in another room than your phone, if you keep your phone on your person all the time like I do, it's really unnecessary. I have my phone in my pocket all the time pretty much. I don't do athlete training or heavy exercise which these things seem to be heavily aimed at. It does have it's good qualities and everything it does, it does well but the question is why do you need it? My phone does all of this stuff and does it better. So I guess if you leave your phone in another room a lot, this could be useful or if you train or excerise a lot. Or if you're not in a hurry to answer a message with other than a canned message like yes, no, OK etc. And like I said, you can answer a call with it as long as you are close enough to your phone. I think the range is around 30-40 ft. So, all in all, it does work well within it's limits. But smart watches in general seem more like a fashion accessory than a super useful tool in my opinion. At least for someone like myself who keeps their phone on them all the time like i do. But if you are an athlete or a person who exercises or trains a lot, I can see that this could be very useful to you. Or if you leave your phone in another room a lot, this might be useful for you also. As a watch it works fine too but you can get a much less expensive watch or use the time function on the phone. So for me, it was a totally unnecessary purchase other than just curiosity about what they actually do and how useful it really was (which in my case really was not very much) but I can see how it could be for certain people.

Great inexpensive smartwatch
The Racetrack Gray band is simple and is the most comfortable watch band I've owned. It's not bulky like some bands. Battery life has been fantastic for me. I only charge every 7 or 8 days. Maybe a bit more frequently when running with GPS tracking. The Zepp app works fine. No credit card is mentioned or required for installation. Not sure what a previous reviewer is talking about, no credit card is requested. Workout transfer to Strava works and is seamless. The only software problem I encountered was that Bluetooth pairing was a bit trial and error with my Samsung S22+. For proper phone control of texting, notifications and call answering the paired device must be of the form "Amazfit GTR 4-4D90". Without the last four alphanumeric digits the watch will not have proper phone connection for all functionality. It took me quite a bit of trial and error with disable/reenable of bluetooth and forget of "Amazfit-4" connection before the proper "Amazfit 4-XXXX" connection appeared. After this difficulty I've had no problems with connections at all. Hopefully this will be fixed in a future software update or better instructions. There are over 200 free watch faces selectable in the Zepp app. In the "Watch Faces" screen select the right clover leaf like symbol and all the free faces appear first. I do wish the default always on faces included a simple digital face but the analog ones are fine. The watch seems pretty sturdy but I do use one of the snap-on conformal covers (Wugonguan brand 3 pack) when working on my car or doing dirty yard work. Without expensive sapphire glass I'm pretty sure the screen will scratch if scraped on a rock. Maybe someday I'll splurge on an $800 Apple Watch Ultra but the Amazfit GTR-4 is the perfect first smart watch for me.

This is what I have wanted
I've had this watch for a week. In that time, I've discovered features and settings way beyond what the big brands offer, even beyond pay walls. I want a smart watch because of the tech. Look, I don't work out on the regular, at least enough to care about those specific activities and whatnot. Sure, it's got that too, but this watch offers so much more like a barometer and altimeter because why not?! Big, incredibly responsive screen? Check Tactile feedback? You got it Stylish design? Yep Customization to make competitors look shameful? Heck yeah Thanks to the reviews here, I got a screen protector and I'm sure it has already saved some damage. Plus, because you can use any 22mm band, I found a fancy band here on Amazon that makes this watch look so much more refined. I can't stop bragging about it and playing with all the various features (a compass even with neat additions!). All sorts of watch faces, the ability to store music and record voice notes, sleep tracking that's good enough for me, and more! Cons? I'd say it probably could be better tracking steps, but I don't care about that anyway. The battery really is as long lasting as advertised. For the price, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

Surprisingly good!
Update 8/16/25 (after 20 months of ownership): Great watch. All that is advertised and more. I wear it daily and use it to track daily cardio (and of course for time, date, etc). Bluetooth feature works well. I get 14 days of battery life before it drops to 15% and in need of a short re-charge. The watch band is showing wear but I think I can get another few months from it before replacing it. I would buy another watch from Amazfit (but probably not for a while as this watch is as good as new). FIVE STARS!! This is my first smart watch. I wasn't expecting much for $169 and boy, was I surprised. Watch face is sharp with many free different faces. Monitoring steps is very accurate (within 1.1% of a FitBit I carry and of my Google 7 Pro). It has many more features I probably will not use with regularity.. I'm sure it has 98% the capabilities of most smart phones on the market. My biggest surprise is battery life. I've worn it for 8 days, 17 hours/day (take it off to sleep) and the battery is down to 24%. Though advertised to last 14 days, I'll be happy with 10-11 days. This is a good buy.

Fix sleep tracking
Updated 1/21/2023 I have reduced 4 stars to 3 stars, just to motivate the company to look into my review and take an action. But in all honestly, this is a 5 star watch. I have seen and used lots of smart watches including big brands, this one from Amazfit is better than all. I have not seen a better looking and sleek smart watch. Some highlights. (1) I wear it 24/7, it's just that good that I don't want to take it off my wrist. I have Apple watch as well , that I bought a few years ago, but only used it a few times. Mainly because it's not good looking and not fun to wear, and the battery is almost a day or less. Now back to Amazfit. All the features work well. The auto sports modes (there are several workouts that automatically start when you start that workout. For instance, outdoor walking or running , cycling, swimming etc. If it' s not starting for you automatically, just change the sensitivity from 'standard' to 'high' under "Watch settings -> Workout --> Workout Detection --> Sensitivity --> 'high' ". This is through the Zepp App. Talking about Zepp App, good, precise, to the point, and very well designed, intuitive. There are several watch faces available for Free in the App Store. I have downloaded about 3 dozen faces, and all of them are designed by "Zepp Health". So all of those are official. And all are free. Just keep searching for faces and there are hundreds of faces that are free. I just stick to the "Zepp Health" faces. Beautiful faces, for every design/occasion. Just love it. I keep my watch in Always On Display to ON (in smart mode). This means that when I got to sleep, the watch automatically turns on the sleep mode and goes to silent/sleep setting and display turns off. I also track sleep breathing quality and blood oxygen. Works good. With all this activity, the battery lasts for me about 10 to 12 days. My guess is that if I stop sleep tracking, the battery would last a little longer. Overall, best looking smart watch, intuitive menu on the Watch, and well designed Zepp App. Sleep tracking is little off in Zepp 2.0 OS, I ask Zepp to fix it please. If I have to advise Zepp for future enhancement, I would say design 'body energy' meter. Something that can track body energy and recommends/predicts the level of energy in the body, based on last a few days of sleep, activity, etc. I know this is a lot to ask, but there are some that are doing it. for instance, Garmin high end watch has a feature like that, and Citizen CZ Gen 2 watch, about to be released Mar 1, 2023, would have a feature like that, which used NASA and IBM labs technology to monitor body energy levels and recommends on hour much it think you can go more before taking a break or rest or nap. May be this sounds too fancy, but as the time progresses, people are trying to be more aware of their body/surroundings/health, and this may be a thing of necessity and usage in near future. Zepp; you are doing an amazing job. Keep it up. Looks like some level headed and smart/people with common sense are running this company. After I see an update to the Zepp 3.18.1.1 software version on my GTR4 watch, I shall change my review to a 5 star review :) By the way, there are other Zepp watches that are so elegant and well designed. I bought a few of those as well for family. One is Zepp E Circle (Moon Grey) and (Ice Blue) . I would have bought Zepp Z Smart watch, as it's so traditional and elegant looking, but since it does not have Bluetooth call function, therefore, I didn't buy it. I bought t-rex 2 as well for outdoors. it was so well designed and reminded me of Casio G Shock, but I returned it as it did not have the bluetooth call function as well :( and was running older Zepp OS 1.0 Original review: Good watch. May be best looking smart watch in market. Zepp app is good. Battery life is about 10 days for me with moderate usage, and that includes always on screen all the time and sleep tracking every night. It runs latest Zepp OS 2.0. This OS is better than Zepp OS 1.0, but with one major issue. Sleep tracking is hit and miss and not accurate. With any Amazfit Watch running Zepp OS 1.0, sleep tracking is very accurate , as compared to an Apple Watch. But with Zepp OS 2.0, they software team has broken the algorithms. May be they tried to make it fancier by providing sleep schedule etc, but the underline functionally does not work properly. Please fix it

Best smart watch ever?
Okay so maybe not the best ever but it's pretty dang close. I had the more entry level model first, LOVED it, so when it came tone to upgrade, this was a no brainer. Charge can last me two weeks, although I never get there because I just charge when I shower. Tracks sleep, many specific workouts, heart rate, prompts me to stand often, and so much more. It's durable and it's the best bang for buck smart watch I've used. It does have a proprietary charger, wish it had wireless qi charging, but other than that, it does and has exactly what I need from a smart watch. Even convinced a few apple watch users to switch. Phone is for phone things, watch is for watch things, I don't like unnecessary crossover and this watch allows me to turn off settings to have that. And did I mention the battery can last me two weeks? I don't even take the charger with me when I travel, don't need it. If that's not freedom, I don't know what is.

Good Watch
Perfect and nice battery life. Not as per advertise but still better that competitors. I am using with 80% options and does last upto 7 to 8 days. Charge is quick again, so need to worry. I have put screen potector sheet for glass protection. Very good product.

Box was very good but WATCH was MISSING
Crazy experience, expectation destroyed when you get a empty box and only user manual for 16k.

One of the best inexpensive smart watches ever.
A good and practical watch. Has loads of functions for fitness fanatics and same time easy enough for the layman. Definitely recommended especially for its price point. Check Youtube for many positive reviews. Only qualm is the standard strap that came with the watch. Although leather, it was not easy to unhook from the securing pin. It was a challenge, especially when you are worried of breaking the leather or the assembly. So my advice is to buy some other alternatives which is available in Amazon. Cheers.
