Explore the world of professional photography with the Photek SoftLighter II 46" White Umbrella, a versatile and high-quality lighting accessory designed to enhance your photo shoots. This durable umbrella is expertly crafted to take light from your strobe head or mono light, reflect it into its white panel, and then soften it again with a diffuser on its way out, providing a more natural and flattering lighting effect. The SoftLighter II 46" White Umbrella is not just an ordinary umbrella; it includes both gold and silver light-enhancing discs. These innovative light modifiers have the ability to alter the color of your light, add more sparkle and contrast, and increase light output by a half stop, offering you a wide range of creative possibilities. With its generous 46" size, this umbrella is perfect for capturing 1-2 person head-to-waist shots or setting up a 3x4 ft product display, illuminating an impressive 11 sq ft area. Its large size and white color help to reflect and diffuse light evenly, reducing harsh shadows and creating a more balanced and aesthetically pleasing scene. Please note, for mounting shoe mount flash units to the SoftLighter II, a shoe mount light stand/umbrella adapter is necessary. Shoe mount flash units must be set to Manual as the entire flash will be inside the umbrella, unless the flash unit is equipped with a remote sensor. This umbrella is designed for strobe use only and is not suitable for use with hot lights or modelin Review: I mean, Annie Leiboviz, am I right!? - Build quality better than I expected. (obviously not as tough as a speed-ring supported octa, but sturdy enough) Quality of light is excellent, if you are looking for soft flattering light. I haven't used it without defusion so IDK about that... Nice and light for assistant-held boom work. Review: Well-built and convenient, and produce pretty good light - It is well-built and feel substantial compared to other no brand umbrellas. It is also easy to transport and setup, and pretty good light. Wish it was even softer. They do sell a diffuser that goes on top of the included diffuser, which is made in the same material, to soften the light even more. Just get too expensive to do buy all of that. Might as well buy a softbox then.

Beautiful Light, Affordable.
Impossible to beat for the money. The new fiberglass rods are an upgrade. Still a little fragile but at the price, easily replaceable. For Profoto users, I've got Acute heads and the 8mm shaft is no problem.

Nice modifier but very fragile
These (and the 60") have been my go-to location light modifiers for a few years but the price point and fragility are forcing me to look at alternatives now. Even just buying replacement "Goodlighter" umbrellas cost more than most alternatives out there today and leave you with tons of extra black covers and a closet full of umbrella bones.
