(obviously not as tough as a speed-ring supported octa, but sturdy enough) Quality of light is excellent, if you are looking for soft flattering light. I haven't used it without defusion so IDK about that... Nice and light for assistant-held boom work. Review: Well-built and convenient, and produce pretty good light - It is well-built and feel substantial compared to other no brand umbrellas. It is also easy to transport and setup, and pretty good light. Wish it was even softer. They do sell a diffuser that goes on top of the included diffuser, which is made in the same material, to soften the light even more. Just get too expensive to do buy all of that. Might as well buy a softbox then.
