Can be messy but easy to use and sturdy
***this product is not food grade rated because it is epoxy*** I was able to put my childhood teapot back together because of this kit and I’m very grateful. I preferred a cleaner look so I waited for the epoxy to dry and I was able to scrape away the excess. Also wiped away excess while it was still wet and I firmly pushed the pieces together until the epoxy took hold. Be sure to arrange your pieces before you mix anything and make sure everything fits together correctly. Make sure you mix together enough epoxy to do one piece at a time because it dries V E R Y quickly. Remember to take your time! I ended up just missing one piece but I was able to fill in the gap with the epoxy and it did the job. I’m happy to say that this epoxy is water proof but definitely make sure you hand wash whatever it is you’re using this on. Overall a good product and labor of love.

Did you also find this from TikTok? Cuz I did
At first, I was really excited to do this project and because of my excitement I failed to read the instructions. Whenever you put the mixture into a little paper bowl, you’re supposed to put the glitter in before you start putting it onto your ceramic edges. I didn’t read that part, and I stuck the ceramic pieces together with just the resin and no glitter. I tried to go back and add the glitter, but it was not sticking so I took apart the pieces again and mixed new resin with glitter to put the pieces together. I put too much in this process and it did get very globby and gloopy and so there is a lot of bumping and dripping that happened because of that. This kit also comes with a pair of gloves and a mask, both of which I was too excited to look at or use or even think about. This mixture is extremely difficult to wash off your skin, and it smells very strong like chemicals so I would recommend using those protective products. As you can see in the photos above the end result is not exactly the same as the traditional Japanese. Process that uses gold because this is resin and glitter. I think it’s affordable and easy if you want to do something simple but I’m not sure I would use it on some thing I want to drink out of or eat out of. It was good enough for fixing the ceramic bowl I made in high school, but it isn’t fancy like I imagined

Not for the faint of heart - but worked great
I have to say - this worked a treat. I had purchased a handmade bowl I LOVED and my new kitten knocked it over her first night in the house and broke it into about 9-10 pieces. I remembered this method of repair and thought it could be perfect. Here’s what I learned: 1) it can’t hurt to try this. You’ll likely throw your broken item out anyway if you’re unhappy with the outcome - at least this could repair it. 2) follow directions. Put epoxy on both sides you’re joining. It makes a difference. 3) you need to be confident enough to move quickly but not so fast that you’re sloppy with the handling of the materials. It dries in about five minutes from the time you mix it - and with good reason. It’s enough time to get it mixed, put the epoxy on both sides and line up your pieces —- and then you need to join those pieces confidently so the epoxy oozes from the seem and HOLD IT in place until the five minutes is up and its chemical reaction is complete enough to hold. If you let go to early, the seam will split (it won’t look good) and you risk the piece falling off. Hold it long enough to bond and you’re golden - don’t get impatient!!!! 4) don’t rush. Give the previous pieces you’ve joined time to really bond/cure before adding your next piece so you’re not pushing/pressing on pieces that don’t have good firmness yet. All in all I’m VERY pleased with the outcome - but I’m also no novice to handcraft. I’d imagine that inexperienced crafters would really struggle with this. You have to have a solid game plan, a good sense of what needs doing, an appreciation for the method and both confidence and patience all at once. If you’re not experienced crafter and skillful with your hands, this will likely be very messy and frustrating for you. Also: this method isn’t for perfectionists. It’s meant to highlight the breaks and putting a piece back together will not result in a perfect outcome with smooth gold lines. It’s oozing epoxy and that doesn’t happen evenly ;-)

Great product
I really like the kit and what it did to a vase. The only thing is that glue has to come out from both parts equally but it doesn’t always. You have to waste sometimes some of it. If you don’t make 2 parts equal amount, the glue will not dry. But it is more than enough of it in there to waste sometimes of it. So not a bit deal.

This product did NOT work: epoxy never dried!
The kit directions stress how surprised I'll be to see how quickly the epoxy dries. This warning is repeated several times, and I'm told to complete the epoxy step in 4 minutes, the epoxy bottle says it dries in 5 minutes. The directions say that it will be dry enough for the next step in 24 hours. THE EPOXY NEVERY COMPLETELY DRIED, the pieces would not hold together, and 28 hours later, I was going to sand the edges to start over, but the epoxy STILL wasn't dry enough to sand off the the ceramic piece. Totally disappointed with the product, and mad at myself for waiting until the return window closed to start the project. Waste of money. Concept very cool, if only it worked.

It’s not a bad craft, but I have suggestions
I used this kit to repair my shattered plant pot. It’s in one piece again, it holds water, and I’m pretty happy with how it looks. Seems pretty durable too. That being said, I have several things to keep in mind: 1. This isn’t real gold kintsugi; it’s resin that you mix with a colored powder. I don’t think it is technically food safe. Also, don’t use it on your precious heirloom; find a professional to do it the traditional way. 2. It was pretty difficult for me to get the pieces lined up evenly, but I think I could have done better with practice. 3. I JUST BARELY had enough resin for this one project (interestingly there was a ton of gold powder left over). I was hoping for the price that I would be able to do a couple projects, but that wasn’t the case. I don’t think the resin would have stored well anyway. 4. The packaging wasn’t the best. The lids weren’t fully screwed on the gold powder, so when I opened the box it got EVERYWHERE. 5. Wipe your pieces down as you go. If you let your fingerprints dry, they’ll become permanent. Overall, manage your expectations and figure out what you want from this kit. If you want a beautiful restoration of your precious piece, do something else. If you want a challenging and crafty afternoon, this will do.

This is a great product for creating a family heirloom
Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with a golden glue. It’s a metaphor for life — and it’s life-changing. This product delivered all that it promised... and more! My wife Jane and I made our first Kintsugi piece of meaningful art last weekend. What started as a $12 ceramic vase purchased at a discount home products store has instantly been transformed into one of our most valued treasures. We didn’t do a great job with it. But that’s part of the beauty. The smudges, the unpatched hole in it, the messy streaks, the part that’s slightly uneven — it all equates to our beautiful lives well-lived, with all the pain and brokenness that comes along with life. The most important thing is that we have reassembled the broken pieces and we haven’t tried to hide the imperfections, but rather, we have celebrated them, highlighted them, embraced them, and we have learned from them. Jane recently recovered from a life threatening stage four breast cancer battle. Last year, I almost died of a pulmonary embolism. Kintsugi represents the broken pieces of life that can be reassembled and made even more beautiful. That once broken vase now has a place of honor in our household, much like we honor each other — with all of our faults, imperfections, injuries, and illnesses. We talk about Kinstugi in my film, WALKING WHILE BLACK: L.O.V.E. Is The Answer, in my book, L.O.V.E. Is The Answer, and in our L.O.V.E. Is The Answer workshops, webinars, and classes. It is one of the most meaningful and beautiful practices of art on earth. You don’t have to be an expert artist to create something through Kintsugi that you will cherish. We’re doing our second vase this coming weekend, but not to get better at it, just to enjoy the process — the practice — of Kinstugi. We highly recommend this product. So much so that we purchased kits for a dozen of our leadership team members so that they can experience it too. And, we are interested in purchasing more!

Fun and pretty repair job
This was a fun way to repair a cracked pot and fairly beginner friendly. The only downside is it’s messy and the epoxy dries fast so you must move quickly.

Easy to Use
The kitsugi set is user-friendly and simple to apply, which is a definite plus. However, I was slightly disappointed with the level of shine it provided. Overall, a decent product, but I was hoping for a bit more brilliance.

Wasn’t sure
While searching threw Amazon I looked at the kit and it seemed cheap but for that price lets some practice before the real deal. Received the package, I put it aside and a couple days ago I open it. Ok nice packaging lets follow the steps for the test of the test. Turns out it’s beautiful, doesn’t look cheap and pretty simple. Side note first time you glue when you think you hold it long enough, well.. you didn’t keep on holding and don’t squish it in submission lets the process do its thing. Cool kit thank you
