SENCUT Sachse

Bought this for $47. After collecting flipper liner locks exclusively, I wanted to try a button lock, and this particular knife appeared to be a good one according to the various YouTube reviewers, and it was in my price range. This is now the most expensive knife in my collection of “inexpensive” EDC knives. My definition of “inexpensive” started at anything below $25, then moved up to $35, and now with this knife it has moved up to $50. Slowly, but surely, it's creeping upward. Moving on... This Sencut appears to be a keeper. I can open this knife using the button with a wrist flick, and also by using the thumb stud, but I prefer using the flipper. I do, however, like using the button to release the blade to close. It is much easier than disengaging a liner lock. Just have to make sure my fingers are out of the way of the blade falling close. I do notice/feel metal on metal scraping as I push the button. A little oil from time to time should help this. Overall, the fit/finish/execution of this knife is pretty good. All of the edges of the scales are nicely finished smooth and flush with the frame. All the screws are snug. The blade has a nice simple design, and is surprisingly quite sharp. It opens/closes very easily/smoothly. The blade lockup upon opening is crisp/strong with no wiggle at all, and the blade is nicely centered when closed. The blade detent is pretty good... closing the blade with a nice snap, and at the same time allowing the blade to be flipped open easily. There is nice jimping on both the blade and the flipper. The body of this knife does seem a little small considering the big blade it houses. But, it feels good in my hand. However, I do wish the Micarta had a little more texture for a better grip. To me, the scales are too smooth. Surprisingly, I think the pocket clip is pretty good. I can insert the knife into my jeans pocket without giving the clip any help, and the knife pulls out of my pocket fairly easily without hanging onto my pocket for dear life. This is all I ask of a pocket clip. I have some knives with really flimsy pocket clips that will bend easily, and some that are way too strong. Like the three bears... this one appears to me to be just right. Of course, if you are rough enough you can bend any clip. Like all knives, if you use them frequently you'll have to check the tightness of all the screws from time to time, or use some good thread locker. Overall, this appears to be a good, solid knife. My first venture into “button lock” land is a positive one.

I've been looking for a good economical axis or button lock folding knife. I've tried Artisan, CJRB, Easegrow, Sitivien, and now Sencut. Some of those are impressive, but of all of them, this one is easily the best. It's well put together, centered, sharp, comfortable, solid, and smooth. I'm sensitive to even subtle blade wiggle, and this button lock mechanism has less than all of them, even the axis locks. In terms of play during normal use, it doesn't get much closer to a fixed blade than this. The action is easy and smooth. Flipping the blade out almost feels spring loaded, and it falls back smoothly into place. There is a bit of button stick, but I don't mind it. Makes the knife feel more solid. Most folding knives with a blade this long have much longer handles, so somehow they managed to put more blade into this handle. These proportions make the knife look especially nice, I think. And in early tests, edge retention seems good, so I suspect they're heat treating these well. When it's time for me to get a new knife, I will be buying this one again. This one does a lot of things better than expensive knives.

Just received my Sencut Sachse black micarta, and first impressions are great! Fit and finish is excellent. Smooth opening, firm lock up, nice release, and the blade centers perfectly. Nice unobtrusive pocket clip. Beautiful and useful blade shape with a good edge, not needing any sharpening now. All in all, a very nice knife for $46 bucks. I rate it an easy $60-65 knife. One criticism, the handle is very comfortable with excellent ergos, but the micarta is a little slippery. I think as it wears in it will have a bit more texture. Very pleased will buy Sencut again. This knife is amazing! I love everything about it. The scales are super ergonomic with no hot spots at all. The lock is fantastic and holds hard until you press the release. The blade is super sharp, and thin enough to be a slicer as well as a box opener. Great quality and construction. It opens like a dream and locks as soon as it hits the backstop. I can open it one handed, and both RH and LH work great. You will only need one hand to close it and the action is beautiful. You can feel the quality when you hold it, so this is my newest EDC to replace my tried and true Benchmade Bugout Ti, which I've used for years.

I've owned a Civivi Conspirator button lock for a couple of years and liked the action on the knife. So, I figured that given the reviews. I'd purchase a Sencut Sachse button lock. I was expecting great things from the knife but was disappointed. Possibly it's just an issue of quality control. Upon arrival the Sachse was extremely difficult to open with the flipper tab and I had to push the blade release button so hard. That my thumb joint was sore after opening the knife a dozen or so times. Additionally, I had to take a diamond file to the flipper tab to take down a sharp spot. Maybe it was a Friday afternoon or Monday morning made knife. I've opened and closed the knife close to five hundred times to work in the action, and though it has gotten better. The knife does not snap open unless I flick my wrist, and the button lock is still a stiff and annoying to depress. I have over one hundred pocketknives in my collection, though this is just my third button lock knife. The Sachse wasn't that expensive, but I expected a great deal more from the brand, and I do have other Sencut knives in my collection that I thoroughly enjoy. Most of my knives aren't complete "safe queens" and I do use many on regular basis. At this point I'm going to have to take the Sachse apart, clean and oil it, and see if there is anything I can do to loosen up the action and reduce the stiffness of the button lock. I usually work on my knives anyway. So, it's not that big a deal. But the knife should have performed better out the box, and hopefully, I can make it a knife that I'll like. On the positive side. It's fairly comfortable in hand, it came sharp, and the materials are of a decent quality given the price point. Hopefully, if you purchase a Sachse, you won't run into the same issues. Overall, not a bad knife. But mine came with some serious flaws. Update. After taking the knife apart, cleaning it thoroughly and it definitely needed the cleaning, and oiling the knife. It has become comfortable to open and close. I'm still breaking the knife in and it's becoming better over time. The knife is starting to open with authority and there isn't a great deal of button stick when closing the knife. It now closes smoothly, and I feel that it's a nice addition to my collection of working knives. So, if you purchase a Sencut Sachse and aren't initially pleased. Take the time to dismantle, clean and oil the knife. It will make all the difference in the end. If you don't feel confident in dismantling and reassembling the knife. Watch a couple of YouTube videos. It's not all that hard and the tools needed are not that expensive and can be used on other knives or other projects. If you are starting to get into knife collecting. Pick up some cleaning solvent, blue (medium) Loctite for the screws, and oil designed for use with knives. Good luck and enjoy your Sachse.

I absolutely love this knife! I own Spydercos and Bokers that I EDC, and have a couple of Gonzos for true beaters--forest maintenance work, removing thick invasive vines, etc.--both are a tad heavy to carry on long hikes. I wanted to replace the Gonzos with something a bit lighter, a little smoother, but equally tough for trail work. I did a lot of research before ordering the Sencut Sachse. I carry this every day now! The size is a perfect Goldilocks for me. The action is superb, with multiple deployment options. Solid lockup--centered blade with zero wiggle. The micarta handle is very well done--smooth, dry, but still seems very grippy. The steel is not premium but is ok with me, very sharp right out of the box. The fit and finish rivals knives costing twice as much. I would highly recommend adding this one to your collection!
