Dual-Spindle Doweling Jointer DJ710, 710W 120V 60Hz, Wood Plate Dowel Joiner, 2X8mm and 2X6mm Drilling Bits, 80 Dowels

After reading some of the reviews here I was hesitant to buy this item. I love using dowels and figured it might be worth the risk, and it is definitely worth it! After following the set up instructions to get the window lined up and the depth gauge set accurately it was a breeze to use. I managed to sink 5x sets of dowel holes (20x total holes) in two boards in under in 2 minutes. They lined up accurately and everything glued together beautifully. The GOOD: -The shop vac hookup on the bottom works well and keeps dust under control, I ended up printing an adapter for my large shop vac. -It's very accurate once you get through the set up steps. Depth is really accurate and everything is quite solid for the price point. Hole diameters are spot on for standard dowels -The operation is very simple and straight forward, set your depth stop, line up with your mark and drill. -Power cord is a good thick gauge and doesn't leave me concerned. -Fast to use once you've got your work piece clamped and marked it lets you bang out dowel holes super fast The BAD: -Would like a handle on the stationary side of things to help keep the tool more firmly planted to the workpiece -Would like the power switch was oriented upwards for ambidextrous access. -It's a bit loud, but not much worse than any biscuit joiner I've ever used, so just use hearing protection. In summary: definitely recommend this tool.

i know what the stars say and a couple of off-colored reviews but i decided to give it a shot and see what the quality looked like, and i'm very glad i did. i did NOT place this order expecting to get a Festool Domino and therefore i wasnt setting myself up for disappointment. what i WAS looking for is something that could could quickly and easily perform cheap basic doweling function and do it in the format of my biscuit jointer. and it does just that. and might i add, does it with a certain amount of precision. there may be a little smidge of slop or a slight need of alignment window adjustments but it's all manageable. as i said this isnt german engineering at it's finest, and neither is the price. but i'm telling you it's decent. and i can layout and run this thing with 2 plunges and have a stronger joint than a domino and it literally took less than 15 seconds to perform the second plunge, AND ive still got $1500 in my pocket. i bought the whole kit so i got 3 different sizes of dowels and 4 different sizes of bits (6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm) and an extra set of the midsized bits (10mm) (5 sets total) also a decent bag and an extra set of brushes came with. hope this helps.

I purchased a dual spindle dowel tool for one reason only. To save time. That makes this a homerun. I'll be honest in saying that I wanted to purchase the Grizzly version. However they won't be back in stock for another 6 months. Too long to wait. I settled on the Iglooo because of the cost. I knew I wasn't going to be getting a Festool quality type tool. As expected from previous reviews, there is the issue with the alignment. In my case it wasn't with the left vs right alignment. My issue was with one bit drilling 1/8th inch higher than the other. After staring at it for a few minutes, I realized the top plate is actually a bit off. I made a few adjustments and got it level. I found the on/off switch very stiff and not able to turn it on with the hand holding the tool body. I am hoping that will loosen up a bit with use. I then added scribe marks to show where the drill bits would be so I can drill larger flat stock. Overall, once you spend an hour or two getting it set up right, it's a good tool worth having. Only question unanswered is will it last?

If you want a doweling machine, buy the Lafelle. This thing is a piece of junk! Machining is terrible, binds after some use, center lines don’t match up, and fence is flimsy. Had to have mine replaced in the middle of a project… then sent it back! Total piece of junk!

The perfect tool to combat the festool domino and its excessive price point. It does exactly what it says. It does just as clean, drills two dowel holes with various bit sizes. The alignment lines could use more contrast, but they work just as intended. could be improved with just a little bit of ink from a pen. if you need a Dowling machine and you keep eyeballing the festool domino buy this because it is well worth it. Many people say, they struggle with the alignment and the drill bits don’t drill precisely even, however, I’ve used this product in over 1000 dowels and I have not had an issue with alignments yet. I prefer to only use one drillbit not to, and that increases its accuracy.

UPDATE 10 November 2023 -- The seller reached out after seeing this review and offered to make it right since I got a (somewhat) faulty product. Based on other reviews, it seems my copy was an outlier, and it's very comforting to know the seller did reach out to address the issue. I'm confident that if you purchase this item, and have any issues with it, the seller will make it right given the opportunity. ORIGINAL REVIEW I purchased this after searching for a dual-spindle doweling joiner, and noted that it looks almost exactly like the Grizzly version of this tool. Many such purchases should've taught me a lesson (ha... stupid me) that you're better off buying quality once than saving money once then buying the quality tool later anyway. The tool arrived in good shape, and also included a set of smaller drills as well as two sample packs of dowels. Being able to unbox the joiner and get to work immediately was very nice. Unfortunately, that's where the "very nice" part ended. I opened the fence and noticed that the detents which should stop the fence angle at pre-set values would not engage. I looked at the problem, and noticed that the detents don't line up at all with the bearing that would engage them. If you watch the video posted by the seller, you can hear the fence click as he moves it; mine does not do that. No detents, that's fine, I assume I'll make most (95% or more) of my dowel holes at the 90 degree setting. I opened to 90, locked it down, and checked for square which is when I found problem #2 -- the fence opened to the 90 degree indicator is not at 90 degrees, it's ~1-2 degrees past, so the holes would be drilled at an angle. There are no adjustments to be made that adjusts where the fence sits when fully opened. Instead, before use, I have to pull out a carpenter square and set the fence to 90 manually. It's not a HUGE issue, but the combination of the detents not working and the fence being non square means more time and effort before I can use the joiner. I'm also unsure how I will use this when I need to set the fence to anything other than 90 degrees. The addition of the vacuum port under the drill bits is nice, but it's less than 1/2 long so the vacuum hose falls out pretty easily. if it were an 1" or 1.5" long, that would be great because then the hose would have more to clamp onto. It's usable enough to not return (barely), but I would be very cautious over purchasing this. If you want to save the few dollars over the Grizzly, you can make this work. I can't directly compare to the Grizzly as I've never used it, but I can say the Igoo is fiddly and irritating to use.

Great tool for the price. However, you need to calibrate it before use. On my unit the 90 degree plate setting was off by a degree. Using my carpenter square I found 89 degrees on the tool was actually 90 degrees. Also, the clear plastic marker was not aligned. I had to loosen the three hex screws and align the markers with the points on the drill bits. Also, be sure to set the depth of the bits' cut to the appropriate size dowel. I'm using the tool to make picture frames. With the smallest dowels, I can use two dowels in a 1 and a half inch board. Anything smaller will only accommodate one dowel.

After unboxing a well packaged unit, it came in a tool bag that was not listed in the description along with the 8mm bits in the machine and the 6mm bits in nice plastic storage packs, similar to the type you get for CNC bits. I used it for the first time today, after reading the reviews about the accuracy of the plastic window, I just removed it. The registration lines were easier to see and line up with the face plate. The setup was quick, and the drilling was effortless. The dowel holes aligned perfectly on the table I was repairing. I know Grizzly sells this exact model painted green with a different name, but they are always out of stock on a tool that is 30.00 cheaper but won't qualify for free shipping. It's a wash if you have prime. I would recommend this tool for someone who is NOT DOING HIGH VOLUME PRODUCTION WORK. THIS TOOL WILL WEAR OUT. The gear case for the dual drills DOES NOT HAVE A SERVICEABLE LUBRICATION POINT. Over time this will fail. If you are using this tool irregularly for joinery, then look no further.

I only got to use it a little bit so far but so far I love it done a few test pieces and it all seemed very precise and super quick and convenient the holes it drills are perfectly clean. It definitely has that angle grinder noise so wear hearing protection. Unfortunately the plug is US type but the adaptor I got holds the plug in tight so no problem. I got this over the triton because it has more accessories was cheaper and has a little better reviews.

Schaut auf die technischen Daten! Es ist eine Maschine für US Netz, 120V 60Hz. Die kann in Europa gar nicht betrieben werden!!! Kein Wunder, wenn die dann das Rauchen anfängt. Ich habe mir das Typenschild zum Glück vorher angesehen. Es gibt auch eine 230V Version, schaut lieber mal bei dieser.

Toestel wordt geleverd met een US of UK? tweepolige stekker zonder aarding. Bijgevolg niet bruikbaar op het Be elektrisch netwerk. Bij navraag bij Amazon kreeg ik te horen dat ikzelf de stekker kon veranderen ( maar wat dan met de garantie?) of op eigen kosten een adapter stekker kon kopen. De chat klantendienst vertelde me ook dat ik dit had moeten specificeren op de website bij bestelling(??) . Achteraf bleek dat die keuze op de website bij bestelling niet mogelijk is. Of dit allemaal wettelijk zo in orde is laat ik in het midden maar qua klantenservice is dit niet ok. Omdat ik de machine nodig had bij een project , heb ik de adapter gekocht . De machine op zich werkt prima en heeft genoeg accessoires om een mooi werk af te leveren.

Excelente máquina , precisa el único detalle que he encontrado que solo sirve para materiales de 18 mm en adelante , por lo demás la recomiendo , buena calidad de materiales .
