Varathane 358322 Premium Gel Stain, Black

Je suis vraiment déçue de ce produit. Je souhaitais une teinture noire qui me permette tout de même de voir le grain du bois et ce n'est pas le cas.

Had some difficulty getting the stain to truly blacken a piece I was working on. Eventually, after enough coats, I had the sheen and blackness I desired. I think next time, I'll try ebonizing the wood first. This stuff does dry rock hard, and is impossible to remove without sanding, so in addition to a proper finish coat, it's a durable finish.

I did a light sanding and it turned out great. Matches my other bedroom furniture now.

This was exactly what i was looking for. It preformed as expected. One big piece of info not in the description is that as a stain, this does not perform like a paint, you have to wipe away the excess. On their website (and the can in tiny letters) it says "Rust-Oleum Varathane Gel Stain will dry to the touch after 1 hour. If applying to bare wood, all excess stain must be wiped away from the surface. If the stain was not fully wiped away, we recommend using a clean rag and some mineral spirits to remove the tacky stain from the surface." I took a bit of work but i followed these directions and it turned out great. I have a distressed "shabby chic" coffee table that was getting a bit too distressed. I applied one coat of this and buffed it out and used Varathane 200161H Water-Based Ultimate Polyurethane

Exactly what I needed! Beautiful color and the small can was exactly the amount I needed! Perfect amount for the money! Not drying as quickly as I hoped, but I’ll give it more time.
