Great Footwear!
I bought these to use as house slippers. I wanted something to keep my feet warm; I have an AC vent under my desk at home. I also wanted something that provides traction on my laminate wood flooring. First pair of Jikatabi I've used. I like them so much that I've started using them as my everyday out-and-about shoes. The fit is good. I would say they are true to size. I ordered the equivalent to US Men's 10's (28 JPN size). I wear 9.5 - 10 size. They are light and comfortable. I prefer snug shoes, and the 10's are a bit loose for my desired fit, so I will try a 9.5 (27.5 JPN) the next time I get a pair. I tried washing them in warm water and drying them on high heat to see if they would shrink. They did and were too tight for a few days. I think they have stretched out to a size somewhere between their pre-wash size and their initial post-wash size.

Exceeded expectations
I bought these on a whim before a 5 day LARP event. I didn't own a good pair of boots and couldn't afford nice Renaissance boots, but these seemed comfortable and were affordable. Plus they worked with my costume. I wasn't sure how they were going to hold up with the insane amount of walking I was about to do or with the expected rain, but these turned out to be AMAZING. They were SO comfortable. I didn't have to break them in, they were nice and breathable in the hot weather, my feet didn't hurt at the end of the event, and I was even able to run around in wet grass and light rain and my feet stayed perfectly dry (I'll still probably weather proof them, but they held up well out of the box). Who needs a pair of fancy leather boots? These are my go to LARP shoes from now on. I would recommend getting tabi socks to wear with these. I'm not sure how they are with a bare foot inside, but I imagine the socks only made these more comfortable.

Order half size bigger
The toes fit well but my heels are hanging out a little bit with socks on. I usually order 7.5, without socks its snug but comfortable; however, with socks,my heels stick out.

Foot health
After dealing with nerve pain and aches in my feet and legs after a bad car accident I got tired of walking around all day evey day like I’m walking barefoot on broken glass and bruised feeling feet. So I did some research and came across an article about the benefits of tabi style sheep’s or boots. The benefits of the split toe and how important it is for the separation of your big toe from the rest is important to not just your foot health but your back health and the way you walk and posture. Since I’ve had these tabi for the past 2 months and wearing them on a daily basis my pain in my feet and legs has almost gone. They are extremely light and very comfortable. I live in these. My 8 year old daughter where’s hers everyday all day as well. It’s like wearing socks all day with a very flexible gum sole on the bottom. And they are very well made.

The fit is odd
I am a barefoot shoe person, so that is my perspective. The length was right, but the volume in the toe area was too tight. I don’t think adding an extra centimeter of length is the solution there (i already had .5 cm of length between my toe and the end). It’s just not a shoe for people with higher volume feet (volume = height of your foot when you look at it from the side). Also, the soles are quite thick and I felt like my foot wasn’t quite landing where it was supposed to there. The upper material is cotton though! Excellent build quality! Both the upper and the sole felt like good materials. I actually expected it to be much thinner overall. I’d say it’s definitely worth trying to see for yourself.

first "shoes" in a decade
i have had much trouble finding shoes that fit, i stopped wearing shoes back in 2006, and have only worn sandals since, i have a high instep, and wide curved feet (allegedly between 3-4w) (my foot measurement in cm is 27 x 12) a couple years ago i was inquirring on forums about my need for better winter foot gear and someone suggested i look at these jikatabi... wish i would have got these back then i asked above if these would fit a 12cm width, seller says thier 10.7cm, im glad i had already made the purchase, cause i may have not done it they are a bit snug, bare foot with the insole, but i removed the insole donned my thick accrylic winter socks and the shoes fit just fine even with NOT having split toe socks also removing insole makes these have some real decent tactile sensory between foot and ground and help promote walking ball (front) first, instead of heel first the only thing that would make these better for me is if they were permenantly waterproof (while still having similar look/feel material) and if i could curve them inward slightly to accomodate the outter curve of my foot if i remember, ill update on how they hold up to a wisconsin winter update; ive diy'd a few socks into split toe, they do feel better then regular socks in these, and ive been sticking to my thinner cotton "ankle socks" (they come higher though and barely peek out the top of these shoes) after the incedent bellow, ive been keeping the insoles inside, they are a bit snug, but not uncomfortable tried to wear these w/o insoles x-mas eve, bad idea, the cold cut right through the sole, cold feet was the extent of my issues though. (pack snow and a 1hr car trip no heat) id bet if one used a custom (diy) felted wool insole, the cold transfer would be eliminated no problems shovling for 20 mins (no wind chill 30F< ) or general wear, my feet stay warm if these run the same width at 27.5 i would get the smaller size, and my only "problem" would be the snug fit which is probably fixable by cutting in a couple small sections of stretch denim, but im not capable of the quality id demand in such a mod lastly, im not particularly in love with the tab closure, maybe a zipper for the majority then 2 tabs at the top still the best money ive spent in years though, hope i can find a sandal hybrid for warm weather

Ninja Tabi boots
Awesome Ninja Tabi boots. I ordered size 9 and normally wear a 8.5. I recommend ordering a half size up like I did because they fit perfectly. Good quality and nice sole traction.
