The Kuman Pin Pointer is a fantastic little tool for metal detecting. It’s water-resistant, easy to hold, and the holster makes it convenient to carry around. It’s very sensitive and helps pinpoint buried items quickly, which saves a lot of time when you’re digging. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced detectorist, this is a reliable, well-built tool that makes hunting for treasures a lot easier. Yes I have found only nails but not its fault.

This metal detector worked pretty well for me. I was scanning a 5 ft area trying to find a land survey pin. I knew I was close but I couldn't see it, assuming it was slightly buried. After scanning for about 20 minutes, I was able to find it 1 in buried. It also found some other disappointing pieces of metal. If you're scanning only a small area, I definitely recommend this metal detector. One complaint I have is that if you tip it upside down, it will beep even if there's no metal. There's probably a way to troubleshoot this, but I've found that you have to keep it quite level to use it.

Ok, first things first.... this is not a Garrett AT Pro and not even in the same class as a Garrett. I gave it 4 stars for the performance to price ratio. Would have given it 5 if it was waterproof. That being said, I think it is a great pointer for its price. I have ran this now for several outings along with an AT Pro. The AT Pro out preformed the Kuman in almost every aspect, but for 3 times the price it better! First thing I noticed is the sensitivity is about half that of a Garrett making it difficult to Surface pinpoint. I like surface pinpointing because I can keep the plug size smaller. Smaller plug sizes means happy land owners and greater odds of being invited back! This can be overcome by getting to know your metal detector and sweeping from multiple angles but it is a slower method. The second thing I noticed is detection speed. Detection speed seemed a bit slower than the Garrett; meaning you have to slow down your motions and give it a second to process and alert. Again not a big deal, just something to get use to. With the Kuman, the sound is a very high pitch. I have some hearing loss issues and find it difficult to hear the Kuman. My father, in his upper 60s, could not hear the Kuman at all but could still hear the Garrett. The Kuman also vibrates so I guess the sound is not a big issue. I did find it easier to find objects in small holes than with the Garrett. the Garrett is super sensitive and goes bonkers in a small hole and a close target. The Kuman with its lower sensitivity had to be moved around more allowing for a more accurate pin point. I currently carry this as a backup pointer. I use it manly when I can't get an accurate point in small holes with the Garrett. It's light and takes up little room on my belt. Pros * Simple to use. *lower sensitivity making it more accurate in smaller holes. * Price point. * comes with nice lanyard and holster. Cons * Low sensitivity making it harder to pinpoint from the surface or un-dug hole. *It is not waterproof. *Sound is high pitched making it difficult to hear if you have hearing loss issues. Overall, it dose what it is suppose to do. If you are use to using a Garrett you probably wouldn't be overly impressed with the Kuman. I would recommend getting a Garrett if you have the available budget. If not, a $40 pointer is WAY better than nothing. The Kuman is a good buy for someone new to the hobby and not looking to spend a lot to get started.

So I just started into the hobby of metal detecting. After dropping $500 on a detector plus a few hundred on other accessories, I didn't have the $$$ for a top of the line pinpointer but I soon realized that I needed one. This is fairly cheap and it seems to go through batteries faster than expected...but I didn't keep track of the usage hours. It is NOT waterproof. The only thing I don't like about it is the waterproof bag. It does work, don't get me wrong, but it's somewhat awkward when it's on. I also don't think the bag's tip will last very long. One piece of glass or a sharp rock will end it quickly. After that I'll have to use a heavy duty ziplock bag or something if I haven't saved up enough for the one this is a clone of. It's great for the money, but it's got no frills either. Update: after having this for 34 days, the rubber part of the on/off button just disintegrated and fell into the handle of the pinpointer. Now there's a hole in the side of it that dirt can freely enter as well. This is clearly defective and should be replaced. I can't seem to find a way to contact the seller yet, but the warranty should definitely apply.

My wedding band can off while working in the garden, which is full of leaves and ground cover plantings. It could have taken me a long time to have to clear out all the leaves and search for the ring through the plantings, and if I stepped on it, it could get covered up. So I decided to try this inexpensive metal detector, and it located my ring, which was not buried, pretty easily. I would certainly recommend it for this type of search. I first practiced with it around the house, and it located hidden metal pretty easily. One problem - initially I could not turn it on, and I am pretty adept with tools. I tested the battery, which was fine. I pressed and pressed the on/off switch, to no avail. I was ready to return it, and at the last minute, I was finally able to turn it on pressing down on the switch with 2 thumbs.

Finding treasures

Bought this to detect bird shot when cleaning ducks/geese that Ive shot to protect my teeth and my meat grinder. Seemed to work pretty well at first and did help find some BBs Id missed when the bird was still whole. I vacuum packed what I thought was metal free goose meat. I ran it over to double check getting it out of the freezer. Bag was less than 3/4 of an inch thick. Detected something and I opened the bag up, shifting where the BB was, and could not locate it at all with the wand in the pile after. Figured it was a false positive somehow. Ran through my meat grinder and two BBs popped out. With them in my hand I tested how far away it needed to be to set it off. Advertised to ~3.5 inches. It had to be less than half an inch before it would start to register. Sensitivity leaves much to be desired. Still it is easy to use. Guess Ill have to spring out a little more for my situation.
