Regarding inputs, MOTU: "These XLR/TRS combo jacks accept either a mic cable or a quarter-inch guitar cable. Both the low-impedance XLR jack and the high-impedance TRS jack are equipped with a preamp (so don't connect a +4 line level XLR cable!) 48V phantom power and 20 dB pad can be applied via the switches provided on the front panel. The trim knob provides over 60 dB of gain."

this interface works only with Mac? anyone can tell me if it is possible to work under windows 7 environment

To my knowledge, this device is USB 2.0 and Firewire compatible, e.g. O.S. does not matter.  It will work w/ Mac and Win 7.  The big issue is not operating system compatibility.  The two main issues are USB 2.0 vs. Firewire I/O availability, and DAW I/F compatibility.  You have to have some sort of compatible DAW software loaded on Win7 for it to recognize all MOTU functions, etc.  Mac has a decent DAW built-in, "garage band".  I use Cakewalk-SONAR Pro Audio for Win7 but there are several others out there.  ProTools is a very popular MAC DAW S/W package.  MOTU has its own DAW software that can be purchased, along w/ other sounds, synths, virtual instruments, etc.  I think that the MOTU s/w is only MAC compatible but not the h/w.  I do know that the MOTU hardware drivers load into W7 just fine.  I haven't had time to completely evaluate my MOTU Audio I/F; but, I do plan to see how well it works w/ both platforms (MAC and W7).
