I bought this overhead camera arm to use for SpellTable, and so far it’s working great. I’ve only had it for a day, but I haven’t experienced any of the issues mentioned in some of the negative reviews. The overall build quality isn’t the highest-end, but it absolutely gets the job done. It’s sturdy enough and stays in place while holding my DSLR camera without any problems. The included ring light is also plenty bright. For my setup, I’m using sleeved playing cards, and if the ring light is set too bright it can create glare on the cards. To solve that, I turned the ring light brightness down and added a small LED light panel on the opposite side so the lighting is more evenly spread. With that setup, it works really well. I also haven’t had any issues with the arm falling, slipping, or slowly sagging like some reviewers mentioned. I made sure to tighten every joint as much as possible when setting it up, so that might help prevent those problems — or maybe I just got lucky with a good unit. Overall, for the price this is a really good deal and it does exactly what I need it to do.

FINALLY! I have been thru 2 other ring lights and the break, don't stay, topple over, you name it. This one stays secure and it very "bendy!" Easy to set up too!

I read the reviews before purchasing this and again I am wondering how we can get such a difference of opinion for the star rating. I watched a lengthy video review and cannot figure out how the man filming got it set up quickly with no wiggling when filming. I watched the videos and was able to set it up quickly including attaching the ring. Then began two weeks of trying it on three different tables, having someone stronger tighten the bolts, and yet, my camera fell out every time and brought the whole thing tumbling down. It either fell off the desk completely or I watched it slowly collapsing before it fell over sideways. My cell phone was obviously too heavy for it as well as too thick for it to be held securely in the mounting bracket. So, I switched to a Samsung A13, a much lighter phone and it stayed in place better but after a few minutes, it wiggled, wobbled, and as I tried to catch it the arms slowly sank to the desk. Defective? I don't think so, maybe just cheaply made. I returned it and bought one with a wider and deeper mount as shown in the photo with the red box around it, and the ruler shows the difference in size to accommodate different model phones. The mounting piece that holds your phone is the most important fact determining whether this will work for you. The second is will the arms stay stretched to the height and spread you need to film without wobbling. I saw so many five star ratings I was determined to set it up and have it be five stars from me as well, but I can’t in good conscience do so. It did not work for me.

I'm going to start off by saying this was the most easiest thing I put together without directions. The light setting works amazing for what I'm using it for! Very easy to move around on different sides of my desk. I do highly recommend this!

I bought this stand because my girlfriend got the same one a few months ago and she's been very happy with it. The price is very reasonable and the stand is sturdy enough, after all I only wanted to hold a webcam for an overhead view while I do electronics project videos. The stand attached easily to my table and I was able to mount my Logitech Brio 4K webcam with the tripod screw mount no problem. I used some cable straps to organize the cables and then attached the ring light with the flexible stand. The problem I had was that no matter what I did, I could not position the ring light in a position where it was evenly around the camera without casting some shadows or off-center light. It would be really nice if the camera could be positioned right in the middle of the ring, but there is no easy way to do that, especially not if you plan on moving the stand during your video (such as to zoom in for a close-up shot). If you do that the ring light, which attaches to a different part of the arm than the camera, would move relative to the camera when you adjust it. Instead, I ended up 3D printing a circular insert that sits inside the ring and has a cutout for the Logitech camera. This insert held the camera exactly where I wanted it, and got even lighting. If you have access to a 3D printer and modeling software (I used Blender) then you may benefit from creating such an insert. Otherwise, it might be worthwhile to invest in some other means to attach the camera such that it sits within the ring. As for the light itself, it is quite nice. It has cold white, warm white, and a soft white in-between which is just running both the cold and warm LEDs at the same time. It has many different brightness settings as well. It requires USB for power, but you can use a USB charger such as an old phone or tablet charger if you don't want to waste a USB port on your computer.
