Wonderful, time-saving and accurate
As a writer I often copy text from printed books or papers, when I don't have an electronic copy. I am forced to copy long sections by hand, which is time consuming - as after five books, I remain a (pretty fast) three-fingered typist. I was referred to this device by another writer, and it works PERFECTLY! It scans quickly into Word, or any other program you choose. It is about 98% accurate - a number which, in this digital age, is as close to perfect as I can imagine. My only regret is that I wasn't directed to the wireless version as well, as I would have chosen that one. But the wired one requires no charging, so it is more user friendly. Also, with either one you get helpful, clear, easily installed software. BUY THIS NOW, for all of us slow typists, or lazy typists - or even you annoyingly fast typists - this will beat your best speed. Guaranteed. You won't be disappointed, and customer service is a great help.

Great product for dyslexia
I use the scanmarker for my dyslexia. I simply highlight a word or sentence that I want to hear aloud and the scanmarker program on the computer reads it aloud. It also can be used for other things like copying sentences into a word or pages doc (might be useful for homework) and for translating text to be read aloud or to insert into a doc. If you don't mind having a wire then get this version. If you feel like having a wire will bother you, you can get the air. Honestly, you have to hook it up to a computer either way so it's not like you won't have to be sitting at a computer anyways. But it's a preference. I don't know if this is a design flaw or just happening to me but the USB Mirco B keeps coming apart from my scanmarker a lot. However, since it does come apart you can replace it with another USB micro B which, is nice because we all know wires go bad and it would suck if it was completely attached and you had to buy a new scanmarker every time the wire went bad. So I'm not really complaining.

The latency (time from scan to text window) is HORRIBLE (although at least the app manages to store input ...
I bought this device based on the reviews, however it doesn't even come close to performing. It doesn't work at all on Android devices (I tried 2 different ones, a Galaxy Note 7 and a Verizon Tablet - the device closes after a scan...) On Windows 10, the interface gives no indication of anything happening during a scan (with the exception of the scanner light being on). It also "docks" to the side of your screen and can only be moved up and down. The latency (time from scan to text window) is HORRIBLE (although at least the app manages to store input as it goes...when it actually scans successfully) Last, and the reason I purchased it, was for scanning Japanese text both horizontally and vertically. It fails completely at vertical text (using both Japanese settings) and horizontally it captures correctly about 30% of the time (the rest of the time it merely fills the text box with nothing, and gives an occasional message about scanning too slow/fast/whatever... This product needs to go back into the test environment for a few months - it's translation features seem relatively advanced, but they are utterly useless if you can't get the source data into it in the first place...

Good for students but with some cons
I give this pen 4 stars because, having used several of digital scanning pens before, this works much like the rest. Pros: -In terms of accuracy, I found this pen to me more accurate than most that I have used. Note, you will need to double check the entry to make sure it scanned properly--but you should probably do that anyway any time you transcribe something. It isn't perfect, but it it is about 80% accurate when used as directed. Note, if you have pencil/pen marks, highlighting, or if there are numbered citations in the entry, you will have some problems. -Some people complain about speed needed etc in order to scan, or that you need to keep it in a straight line. If you use the pen as you would a normal highlighter (angled like a pen, kept in a straight path over the line, at a medium speed) you should have good results. -I thought it would be too bulky, but I find personally the size is good for control. -Scans into outside documents such as Word and Scrivener. (You do have to adjust this setting in their little toolbar though, if you're having problems with this). Cons- -BRIGHT. I haven't had this issue with other scanners, but yes, if you are focusing on scanning a line correctly, you end up staring into that bright light and it can hurt your eyes after a few minutes. I'm not sure how others deal with this, but I made a little "shield" of sorts with a post-it note, making sure the post-it did not interfere with the line of scanning, and that helped a lot. Definitely not ideal, but a possible fix for those who need this item and have no other choice. -SCRATCHY. My biggest complaint is that it feels as if it is scratching the paper as I drag it across. My TS-1 from C-pen was like butter but not as accurate, so I guess it is a trade-off. Maybe with time and use it will smooth out. Overall, as someone working on my PhD who needs a lot of notes and research input quickly, I find this incredibly helpful. If you're a fast and accurate typist, yes, you could do it faster, but that is too tiring for me. I'd recommend this to any humanities student in a heartbeat (in fact, I have recommended it to quite a few).

Device itself of good quality and easy to get it working with some practice. Defective USB cable
The device came on time. Driver installation was easy and the device works quite well for the purpose I bought it for. The only issue I have is with the included USB cable. It did not work out of the box. I had a similar spare cable that I used. It worked and I have been using that since. I contacted the support about the defective cable through their software portal promptly and have yet to receive a reply after >2 weeks. The device itself is working well. I expect the company to respond and replace a defective part for a quality piece such as this. I will update the rating based on the response from the company.

It works.
I'm a phd student studying for comprehensive exams. I need to shave some serious time off my note-taking, especially typing out quotes from library books. I've been using this for almost a week now, and when I put down the $70 (that I shouldn't really be spending anyway), I was super hoping that I wouldn't have buyer's remorse, and I'm happy to say that this thing works better than I expected, and it works better once you get use to the right speed (which, btw, you can really zoom with this thing; you actually need to drag it fast for it to work properly). So far, for me anyway, the highlighter trips up over romanized ancient greek words and atypical punctuation (like brackets). Aside from minor corrections here and there, I can typically go several lines, and it works just fine, even with tiny fonts. Also, the usb cable doesn't bother me a bit. Oh, and it occurs to me that I'm probably saving myself from some kind of carpal tunnel problems with all the typing i typically do. Was feeling mild tendonitis in my elbow a few weeks ago. This is easier.

Great timesaver
I was particularly impressed by how quickly it was shipped to Iceland, it arrived 2 days before schedule. The customer service was outstanding and I received a reply the next day. The product is great but does take time to get used to, the angle has to be right and the speed, also if you are using a book it may be a bit hard if there is a bulge as it doesn't read exactly right the last word sometimes. I'm sure I will get a hang of this and it will not be a problem. Practice makes perfect and this product has reduced my glossary time substantially. Also I like using it so I'm motivated to read the books, it's beating the procrastinator in me! =D

Needs a bit more work.
I study foreign languages and have a large number of Chinese/Korean/Japanese books that I wanted to digitize without ruining the binding. I figured I'd give this a try since it says it supports those languages. It's decent, but the text size required to read accurately is quite large, and it will make enough errors that you spend as much time editing to correct mistakes as you do scanning. Guess the technology or software just needs a bit more time...

Without USB cable
The product is very good, very useful to me. I recommend it to all those persons who have to type a lot per day. Now coming do to its Customer service part. International Customer sevice very very good. They respond back to your email and give resolution too. But out here in India first of all the seller don't share any ph no or email through which you can communicate if you have an issue. Amazon customer service is horrible, they don't know what should be a logical solution in a given stitutaion. My product came without the USB code, nobody in India was able to help me, the help come from the Original manufacturer. Regards Pranab

Perfect printed text scanner
Perfect scanner to digitalize printed text. Works fast and is very accurate, almost never misses a word. It saved my daughter a lot of time on school summaries and transcriptions. Easy to download and install the manufacturer software.
