8240-5 12V Cordless Rotary Tool Kit with Tool Fabric Carry Bag

First time purchasing a CORDLESS Dremel - have 3 older corded. I have to say this was a smart choice. So much power! I’m taking my time working up to full throttle 😅 and the battery is still more than half after three separate uses with just one charge! Extremely versatile (slices through pvc lattice like butter). Great quality and weight for short or long work sessions. Noise is minimal and will vary somewhat in relation to power level and duration of use. The only thing I could ask for is a slightly better body. I have big hands (6’ woman) and it is a bit thick around the middle- not unreasonably so - just asking for a little better ergonomics when holding, like a slightly deeper pinch nearer the head for when a detail grip is desired ( I get that there has to be room for the battery to insert and yes, I own the grip attachment - not a favorite of mine). Otherwise, it is simply everything one would expect from the Dremel brand - including an excellent price. By the way, the original Dremel in my toolbox is at least 15 years old and still performs admirably within it’s abilities. Upgrading to cordless, though? Wow. Awesome! This was an actual purchase and I was not paid for the review.

This drill brand it's good for making no heavy work small jobs works very well to making details on wood or soft metals The battery doesn't heat up and lasts a good while, provided it isn't subjected to heavy-duty work; I do recommend it.

IMPORTANT! If your tool is flashing green when it is turned on, set it 10 to 15k and try again. Toggle on and if it still flashes try again. Now to the review. This is a great tool. It's got plenty of power and can SAND through a board. Not just cut. With a SANDING DRUM you can go through a board. It doesn't bog easily above 10krpm. It is great for cutting bolts, cutting sheet metal, sanding metal and wood, rough and fine shaping in wood. Fine shaping in aluminum, polishing steel, rough axe or lawn blade sharpening, engraving, and much more I haven't done yet. The battery life is good, but it leaves some to be desired. It can be gripped like a golf club for grinding, and shaping, or like a pencil for fine and detailed work. The battery charges in 30 to 40 minutes. It is quite heavy, but not enough to stop most detailed work. I can't say much about durability, as I've only had it for a week, but I've got it covered on sawdust, metal dust and splashed with water lightly. This is a brushed tool, but there is not a way to change brushes, so I guess you replace it. Fine with me for 70$, but might be a deal breaker for some to replace every 150 hours. It is a great starter dremel though. You will have to buy a lot more accessories to fuel your rotary addiction, but at this price it's pretty easy to. The carrying case is a huge bonus. It fits my 110 piece accessory kit with the charger, tool and battery. I overall, a great buy.

I have several Dremels but this is so handy to use. Love the freedom without a cord to get in your way.

Bought this to trim my dogs nails after purchasing other trimmers I decided to try this Dremel and it is the best! Gets the job done quick with less hassle. Not sure but my guess would be this is what the professionals use. Don’t waste your time with the other nail trimmers. I wish I had purchased this from the start.

This might be premature in writing this review. As soon as I received my dremel this afternoon I set up the charger and charged the battery until the blinking light stopped and the green light was a steady light. Inserted the battery into the butt of the dremel and pushed the on/off switch to on. Immediately three blinking green lights start to flash and after 1-2 seconds it goes off. I pushed the on/off switch again...Nothing. I pulled the battery out of the socket and reinserted, again... Nothing. Do I have a bad product? So that leaves me with 1-2 options now; return the product to Amazon or call Support. Guess I'll sleep on it tonight and decide what to do....So right now, since it doesn't turn on at all I really can't rate it over 1 star. Second Day...tried the Dremel again this morning and NOTHING. I'm leaning toward returning the tool, in the meantime I'll keep trying the On/Off Switch. Was looking forward to using the grinder on several projects. Guess it has to wait. Update: I returned the Dremel which is always an easy process for me. After I informed Amazon of the problem and completed the questionnaire they informed me another Dremel will be shipped and I have about 30 days to shipped the original item back. This is a big PLUS for me when the return process is above board and straight forward. I received the replacement and I made sure it worked. Yes, it is a disappointment whenever you receive a defective product, but I do understand minor problems as such do occur. In the meantime I'll continue to purchase items from Amazon.

Great tool to use. A bit bulky but 12v supply with 35000rpm still available its worth it. However keep in mind that Amazon US supplies at 110V so make sure when ordering. I am still looking for a replacement charger to get the battery charged it is so upsetting......

This is my second Dremel, the first being a hundred years old :-} and corded. This one has WAY more power. The new EZ-Lock cutting wheels and mandrels are superior to the old mandrel mounted ones -- cut maybe five times faster. Really. This battery-operated tool is significantly bigger than my old corded one, so is a little more awkward to use, but I can get used to that. LOVE the power, LOVE not having a cord. The nose piece just below the collet unscrews and becomes a collet wrench -- brilliant! No separate wrench needed to change bits (but you still need one to futz with mandrels). Easier to take with me than the corded one--no extension cord. Comes in a nice (but bulky) fabric case with a few accessories No flex shaft, but I have one from my older Dremel tool. I use a Dremel tool on almost every project -- to cut, to sand, to polish. I have the carving burrs and use those often in woodworking. I bought this tool so that I could have two tools, each with a different bit, to save swapping bits in and out, not thinking that it would replace my old corded Dremel, but it certainly has. IMO the 8250 or 8260 are over-priced. The 8240 is not brushless, but I'm not worried about that. And who really needs to control a Dremel tool with a phone? Like, come on! The short story: BUY THIS TOOL.
