Motor Run Capacitor, 5 MFD, 2-3/4 in. H

Got the blower in the Lennox house furnace back up and running at minimal cost. Functions as designed as a capacitor, has enough kick to get the furnace blower going. Very easy to replace the burnt out cap, just 1 screw and two wires to move. Fits easily because it's mounted by a strap that can accommodate similar sized caps.

Really good price! It's good to purchase a couple and keep one handy. Caution: Be super careful to discharge both the old and new capacitors before doing any work. I just used an insulated screwdriver across the terminals.

It matches the original condenser in our geothermal heat pump and save me paying for a house call. Don’t be afraid to replace your condenser. Just turn the power off and match the plugs. Ten minutes if you are handy.

I say this is professional grade because the last time I bought one, five years ago, it was at an HVAC parts house.

Just before the latest cold snap. capacitor on fan on air handler went out. I was able to use another capacitor to keep it running. Today, I installed the correct one. Price was very competitive with what I pay wholesale at HVAC supply house, and they both are Titian brand. Titan is a well known brand in the HVAC industry. A big plus is I didn't have to spend ten bucks on gasoline, or a couple hours time to go get them.

A little background for those DYIers that are not familiar with how an AC motor works. If your motor fails to start on it's own but will run fine if you give the fan a "spin" with a stick just before applying power then you have a weak run capacitor. This is a motor RUN capacitor used typically for the fan motor (approx 1/4HP.) If you need a Dual Run cap, this is not your guy. A "Dual Run Capacitor" has three (not two) terminals labeled "C", "FAN", and "HERM", which stand for the Common, Fan, and HERMetically sealed compressor, on the top and are used to boost both the fan and compressor motors. Dual Run capacitors have two different capacitance values marked on them (eg. 60/5 MFD.) It is important to get the right size capacitor for your motor, using the wrong size will cause the motor to rotate irregularly, especially under load. This hesitation can cause the motor to become noisy, increase energy consumption, cause performance/HP to drop and the motor to overheat.
